Here are my guesses. 1: very low budget - cameras are expensive so they used cheaper and older cameras 2: drag can be messy, heavy cakey makeup, wig lines, padding lines. Drag queens used mor fake boobs and hips here. With this blurry look the queens look better and more polished 3: Ru is an older queen and wanted to give the show an old tv feel
Low budget, new show so they didn’t want to invest much incase it bombed. Tv kinda looked like that in general in 2009 as well so part of it is just a era thing. Filters/post production editing might have also had some effect because I assume they might have not had a proper/full set up for lighting and crap.

Tbf, there's times when production is being shady, and there's times where a queen is being shady and production just lets you know. This was totally fair. This wasn't savage of the producers at all unless Raven was talking about someone other than Tatianna.
Another prime example of why Season 1-6 was the golden age of this show. 7 was the beginning of the end when the queens started to become more scared of saying shady things and expressing their true feelings because of backlash from the fans.

That's why season 1-7 had the best confessionals and untucked! If fans could avoid giving death treaths and just enjoy the show, then we could prolly see the queens real personality and witness more of these and we won't be watching best friend race.
