I live but just two blocks away from Grace Community Church here in Lake Forest and did you hear about the Legacy Standard Bible coming out? I'm super pumped and never have been more excited for an even more accurate translation! I'm pretty sure he uses the '95 NASB as of right now , Im blessed by YHVH Elohim. Before I even knew about JM that I had purchased a '95 NASB just a week ago. Praise Yah! He said this new Legacy Standard Bible will be be the Bible to use for this generation and the one after. That is a pretty big claim and mark to reach for a translation in English, yet the brothers in Christ at Master's Seminary know what they are doing and making this distinctly conservative in translation unlike the new NASB 2020 which has received major backlash.
I got one several months ago. The line matching is excellent! It has many great study features. However, I only use this for study and not my "everyday" Bible. I wish Thomas Nelson would produce a Bible in the NASB like the NKJV Comfort Print Thin line Reference Bibe in large print and premium black goatskin with a black letter text.
@Bible Buying Guide - You did such an excellent job on this Review! You got me excited enough to really dive into my Signature Series paperback LOVELY $3.99 MacArthur Study Bible (NASB). My Bible has a Free Bible Study Tools download. Does the version you are Reviewing have that? Initially I would not have purchased a MacArthur Bible of any kind because he does not believe that the gifts of the Spirit are in operation at this time. WHEW! Lord help him. I like the Bible though in spite of his unbelief. I suppose he is not the only Christian in the dark. That being said, since I collect Bibles - this is an addition to my Bible Collection. Your delivery was so honest and inviting - Bravo! Amen. 🌄
Great review. May I know what is the usual problem of hardcover? I have two imitation leather Bibles and the cover usually chip off easily since I live in a tropical country. Thanks Randy. God bless
Thanks! I haven't had that issue here, but we have a much different climate. Any hardcovers that I've had a problem with have come apart at the seam between the cover and the text-block. I love your Rubik's Cube avatar. I learned to solve the 3x3 in the early 80's and I still solve it just about every day.
Are the other NASB MacArthur 2nd edition study bibles (imitation leather, hard cover etc) have the exact same features, layouts, maps, notes etc. as you mention in the Goatskin?
The notes are small. The dark font and line-matching for the notes helps. The paper in the Premier Collection is 39gsm. I'm not sure about the other editions, but I'd guess them to be 32gsm.
Hi Terence. I personally recommend a text-only or a reference Bible for a main Bible. This way, we're not pulled to one point of view without seeing other opinions.
@@BibleBuyingGuide Thank you, Randy, I always value your opinion. I have moved back to my own country England I used to live in Suquamish WA. Randy, would you use the NASB or the KJV? there are so many translations I do not know which is true. Thank you again
Doesn't this Bible have any particular theological presuppositions. Is it pushing reformed theology over some other type of theology. Does it have a particular eschatological bent
The ESV study bible in LARGE PRINT is best that I have. It does not seem so dogmatic along election OR OSAS but sort of lets you make up your mind. Any comments by a human are NOT inspired.
MacArthur makes a pile of money from his publishing empire. I wonder how he comments on Jesus' declaration on how difficult it is for a rich man to enter into the Kingdom. He willingly accepts his role as a personality cult leader. He blasts all the Joel Osteen riches but then collects all of his publishing royalties without a problem. I'd stay away from his bible.
Said by someone who probably likes the King "James" Bible, in the "Thompson" chain reference variety. I'm only joking, but you get my point. I personally use the KJV almost exclusively.
@Followerofchrist 247 Ok onlyism... It looks like you know well onlyism... You know what onlyism that's the reason why we need to study God's word so that we could know who Jesus Christ is... Are you gonna stick with onlyism or you gonna stick with allism.... Wish ism to you... Thank you onlyism
@Followerofchrist 247 I'm at the point now that whenever I encounter the poison, circular reasoning, and arrogance of King James Onlyists, I don't even debate them anymore because it's clear they have no interest in integrity, intelligence, and true Biblical scholarship that honors the Word of God.

Hi! I have heard about that one. Thanks for the info. I'm looking forward to seeing it. It might be a better option over the NAS update.

Zondervan has a NASB95 Classic SCR BIBLE IN BLACK GOATSKIN. i've had mine for so far 2 years.
I googled this bible in black goatskin. Looks nice, but wonder if they make it with red letter?@@Giancarlo_1997

I heard that what usually happen to a hardcover especially with this heavy Bible. Thanks. Yeah I am too, somehow it relieves me from stress.

Good question! I think they're the same, but unfortunately, I've only seen the goatskin.
I bought the study Bible that was 9n sale for 25.00. It us awesome!!!
If 9 is text size isn't comments about 7 and too small to READ? Mine has very thin paper.

Is there anything you'd like to see added or changed regarding this Bible?
Excellent question! Nothing really stood out to me as missing or needing to be different. I live the materials and the design is well-executed.
Randy would you recommend using this Study Bible as my main Bible?

@@terencealbertmcbain8041 thanks! I actually like to use multiple translations from the various manuscript families, so I'd personally use both.
Isn't it true that if you have the ESV study bible that it is almost identical to NASB. NKJV. Any other?
Yes, the notes are the same.
should i buy a NASB since i will just use it as reference or should i buy ESV instead?
If you are using it for reference or study, I'd go with NASB. If you are going for readability I'd go with ESV. Your mileage may vary. (YMMV)
Great Review!
Thank you!!
Bible ASMR!!
Too bad the people who make the Bibles we read can't read them themselves. Yet, we keep buying them and doing these reviews.
are these bibles Smythe sown?
Yes
Is the hard cover version also Smythe sown?
@@linux_admin2501 I think so, but I don't have it in hardcover to confirm.

There is a Calvinist and Dispensational bent to the notes. Personally, it’s still really good to me even if I don’t agree with it all.
Is there a chance the premier collection will ever be offered in Black? Particularly in the ESV edition.
❤️🔎👍

Very small text if you are over 50.
Do you know what would be cool. Bigger print for us blind people. Maybe that entire bible study without the bible. Use you own bible. 🙂

If you're hunger for truth NASB is not the suitable bible as it replaced some word in the bible... I will recommend KJV...
