As a newly wed I did a load of underwear for my husband. He said that's not how we fold it in the Navy. I tipped it out on the sofa and said have at it.

This lady has been let down by NHS and Social care. She should never have been discharged from hospital without a care package being in place. She needs to be assessed asap by Social Work. Obviously housework is a big problem but she likely needs help with all the other activities of daily living. Fife Carer's Centre in Kirkcaldy are fantastic and could help start the process of getting the help this lady needs.
Thoroughly enjoying your videos. From a fellow Fifer. 😃

I have come to a conclusion, so when someone tells you that you are doing it wrong turn around and tell them to do it there self. Because badly folded is better than not folded. You would be surprised how quiet people go.

I needed your advice forty years ago when I was stacking firewood for the first time. I was 21 and had moved into a house with two other people. My Dad had brought us a truckload of firewood already split and it sat in the carport waiting for someone to stack it neatly. I asked my boyfriend to do it, expecting him to be stronger and experienced in having a fireplace before. The wood sat there for a couple of months so I finally undertook the task myself. He then criticized my technique! The nerve of that jerk! The relationship ended soon after.

Old lady here and I'm an expert at folding laundry because I wash like items together (bath towels, hand towels, washcloths, tea towels, washrags, etc.) so when you're folding you are repeatedly folding like items. You get into a rhythm, and you have the towel you just folded in front of you, so you'll be able to repeat the process. Same with T-shirts, pants, socks, underwear, etc. I hang blouses and dresses on a hanger immediately and let them dry on the hanger so they can go straight into the closet when they're dry.
That was an EPIC amount to laundry! You did good just to get them sorted and folded. ;)

I agree with you @AZHITW, I too consider myself old (63) and own a cleaning business now semi-retired having put my daughter in charge.
I started using clothes hangers when my kids were small and I still use clothes hangers when washing and follow the same folding techniques like with like. Tip: when washing bed linen, once folded, I pop the sheets and pillowcase/s into a pillowcase, keeping them all together in the linen cupboard. 😊

Thank you for helping this woman!!! I personally hate ironing. My husband hates vacuuming. We have a mutual agreement that he never has to vacuum and I never have to iron. Although we don't have many clothes that need ironing, most of them are mine - he still does it without hesitation. I am very grateful for that. And while I don't generally hate laundry, I hate laundry in winter, because it is overwhelmingly much and I have to be very consistent or it won't dry on the line and then I get backlogged and have to spend hours catching up. I rarely use our dryer because it is expensive. While I share your spider problem, I have a cat who pays her rent by getting rid of the spiders for me. Luckily she doesn't gift them to me though, I only get an occasional mouse and thats fine 🙂I am also one of your viewers that came over from Mack's channel. Greetings from Luxembourg!

I also hate ironing 🤣 my husband always does the bins in our house because I can never get the lid off without hurting my hand for some reason. Sadly I'm allergic to cats so no spider catchers in my house but luckily my husband and oldest daughter will remove them when needed 😁 x

If she has trouble folding laundry she should consider just not folding things that really don’t need to be folded and just have a storage bin for each type of item she can just throw them in after they are laundered. Items that really don’t need to be folded -> towels, sheets, blankets, pyjamas, underwear.

I always fold right out of the dryer so that everything is ready to be put away as soon as I bring it upstairs. That could help this woman if she's able, but it seems that the problem here is that it has nowhere to go even when folded. I hope she's amenable to your suggestion that she do a purge of some things to make more room. You're doing excellent work!

I hate all house work. It is something i see as an unending task. When I clean it has to be full on. Like floors I sweep then wet and scrub, then mop until the water comes clean. This is a lot of work and takes me all day. Then the second someone steps on it i feel like it has all been undone. It is unreasonable but sadly how I feel. I use these cleaning videos to keep my motivation up. Because it feels heartbreaking when something that takes so much work becomes undone so easily. You are doing great work and i commend you for your hard work. I like your voice. It was nice getting to know you and the resident. I hope she gets the help she needs.

In my whole life I don't think I have owned as many clothes as were shown here. I hate ironing, and find it limits creasing if I take things straight out of the washing machine when it finishes and hang them up instead of letting them sit in the machine until I get round to emptying it.

Vacuuming is my nemesis. I have a canister vac and a small apartment, and I'm constantly having to navigate around furniture and reposition the cord. If I ever hit the lottery, my first purchase will be a cordless stick vacuum.
It would be nice if your followers could chip in to buy this lady a couple of dressers for her clothing so she doesn't have to stack it on the bed. I don't imagine it's easy for her to reach it on there. Also, if I were her I'd keep a wastebasket next to the sofa so she has somewhere to throw her trash.

I just hate doing them because of all the stretching. I was a single mom who raised two children on my own. I worked 2 jobs while they were growing up....a full-time job and a part-time job. My children were doing their own laundry by the age of 10, but we never seemed to be caught up with all the laundry. They are both adults now, and we all maintain fairly neat homes. But during that time, that was not always possible. The family joke now is that Mom was behind on laundry for 20 years... until both children left for college. I love doing all my laundry on the weekend now and knowing everything is clean and put away. But that was not a priority when they were young. Now my least favorite job is sweeping. I'm not sure why. I don't mind vacuuming or mopping, but I hate sweeping.

Both Mack and Remy are quite eloquent speakers in my humble opinion! They are also both very wise. I do think your advise hit the spot and true too! You gave her lots of practical tips and tricks to make getting started easier. I’m so sad that adult humans can be so horrible to their children in so many different ways. I know I’m not a perfect mother myself, but I’ve never been abusive in any way shape or form. I love my kids and couldn’t hurt them so purposefully and with such meanness behind it. That’s not to say I’ve done everything perfectly 100% of the time. Take care BOTH of you, and thanks for being such a nice light in what can be a dark and shadowy world.

You did a fantastic job on her house. When you narrate your videos, speaking louder and more confidently will help people understand you better. I had to use captions because you are so soft spoken. You are a sweet lady and I have shared all your videos. Wishing you luck with your channel.

She should be entitled to social care. I’m disabled with trauma and physical stuff, I qualified for it so I don’t under why she isn’t? Sometimes the way you ask for it and what you say and how you say it determines if you get help or not so it’s worth going to a charity that can advocate for you.

That mountain of folding would be overwhelming to me. I also do lists of chores & cross them off when done & also add to the list if it was not originally on it & then cross it off so it counts. 👍

Thanks for another interesting video. This resident has had such a series of terrible misfortunes, so your help will have been a great relief. I’m sorry she’s not getting much support.
For me, it’s dusting. I hate having to move little things around just to put them back again because particles have fallen from the air!

Hi Stephanie, you are doing a great job, helping people in need even when you have your family of four to take care of. I admire you for the patience and the kindness you show to the residents. They surely appreciate all your hard work and time. There are no good or bad ways for folding, do what you think is best. Lol. Be mindful of your back, you only have one. Try to use a chair whenever you can. Hopefully this lady will get some household help in the future. Keep up the spirit. Bless you and your family. BTW I absolutely hate dusting. 😂

Well done, you for standing the whole time while folding. There is no one right way to fold towels. It depends on how they are stored. I used to C-fold them, but I can fit more towels in my narrow linen closet when they are C-folded and rolled up as well. Whatever fits and folding style is easy and practical is the right way to fold towels. 😊
