I've come straight here from an unbelievably abysmal Modern Corrie episode, and the difference in quality is staggering. Brilliant again - perfect in fact - especially the renewed confirmation of what a pillock Kenneth is, and the incomprehensibility of the wondrously lovely (and twice as clever) Valerie continuing to stay with him - thank you!
@@dianewalker4633 Not too long ago I was watching some from (I think) 2005. That was still good. Although was certainly guilty of feeling the need for a "big storyline" every few months because they believed (perhaps correctly) that otherwise the audience's interest would only wane. Most soaps are only on now for tradition's sake-or perhaps because they bring in big numbers, but I reckon that's also for tradition's sake. Back in the 60s they were our view into other people's houses. Social media now means we see into other people's houses all the time. So they've lost their raison d'être over time-which in itself is okay, because things always have to move on. But in order to be worth re-commissioning time and again they have to prove themselves now, and that becomes harder and harder each year.
Thank You as always, am loving Dec 69. This episode is dominated by Alan and Val. Val Barlow is outstanding. Thought it funny when Sandra wanted to name one of wigs Alan Howard as a future boyfriend unless Elsie wanted him for herself. Not a Chance she snapped. Sandra's smiles show that she knows Elsie is hiding her true feelings. How longer for, we'll have to wait and see. Not long I hope 😀

I never watch any episodes from 1985 up to the present time. I just can't be bothered with them and sadly they seem to get worse and worse.

From 1979 with me . I miss Ray Langton too much, it was awful when he left, mind you one can only stand so much of dreary Deirdre.
That God awful sex - obsessed Sandra makes up for it in this episode, mind.
animilated as sez hilda, wish i could remember all hildas sayings, she really is a god send in corrie, picks me up no end
Those were different times! Thank you so much for sharing, as always.

I love Sandra.
I don’t.
Thank you thank you! Another brilliant episode!
😲 I see things haven't changed in 55 years! Ken Barlow being the example of a misogynist male.
I can't help wondering where Peter and Susan are. Bound and gagged in their room perhaps? Quietest children I have ever heard of.
They must have been in the room upstairs that Tracy disappeared to somewhere around the 80’s !! 😂😂
What a sweet ending with Hilda
Watching Uncle Albert eat is not a pretty sight!
That Ken is a right pr*ck - Valerie was probably glad to be electrecuted
Yes, definitely not one of Ken’s finest moments in this episode.
OMG LOL right?
One way of getting into a coma.
Who would have put up with Tatlock even back then.
Year a was born

It's all boat people now.
Pretty gloomy and double gloomy 15 years following the WW2 for them working glass
