Another perfect episode - the writing (especially the beautifully subtle Ken, Val and the letter plot), directing, acting - everything. All character based and wonderfully enjoyable, thank you!
Brilliant, the one I've been waiting for, it didn't disappoint 🎉. Very amused to see the ladies swoon over Alan, especially Sandra. Elsie doesn't seem impressed, so far. Thought it funny her saying to Bernard she likes being single yet reading a love story book. Will have to wait and see next episode to see if Elsie & Alan speak to one another, although they both had a long look at one another in The Rovers Nice of Alan to buy Hilda a drink, although he doesn't know yet know her, what she's like. Felt sorry for Jack. Good for him going with Albert and Stan to reunion. Annie was being snobby. More I see of Val, more I like. Looking forward to next episodes to see how Alan & Elsie get on. Thank You ❤
Hi, I agree 100%. Val was my favourite character. Anne Reid was so brilliant she didn't seem to be acting at all, and consequently made believable situations which could have been mundane with a lesser actress so watchable. When she decided to leave a year later the Powers begged her to stay but she wanted to move on - a huge loss to the show but of course she's been so fantastic in so much since.
Classic episode from beginning to end, notable for the first appearance of the tragic Alan Browning as Alan Howard. Saw him recently in the ATV Thriller episode The Crazy Kill opposite Denholm Elliot, Antony Valentine and american actress Tandy Cronin . Love the way the ladies swoon over him and Albert and Jack causing a comotion.
@@jetblack.7186Yes, ironic considering the pub was the one of the sets that had been redecorated 3 weeks previously to look less bright on the colour cameras.
Annie Walker (2:08). If six light ales came to 10/6, then one must cost 1/9. How were people able to calculate that so quickly? Did they have a pre-set price list?
Hilda's wig....god love her.....sorely missed. ❤

13:36 the necklace is stunning ❤❤❤❤ Now I understand why it caused such a stir in a future episode.
I love the old coronation street,I watch them everyday on itv3.
A golden episode! Thankyou for sharing ❤
So do I! Thanks for posting.

@@ysgol3Yes, I agree. Val was a very strong character and believable.
Albert and Jack at the end bless them 😂😂
That first look when you know. Great to see the moment when Elsie and Alan meet.

I've seen that ATV Thriller episode, it's good. I like Alan. Yes, tragic, the whole Alan/Pat love story.
The Rovers walls could do with a coat of paint.

Albert Tatlock was a wise uncle character in the early Corrie years but then he became a grumpy old bore
This show went downhill when Bobbie 😺 left !
Annie was always a B to Hilda - and to Stan. Hilda and Stan were cool. Annie was a stuck up mole.
