    Great video! I remember going to visit family in Mendenhall, MS back in the 90's. My aunts home sat a block away from then Illinois Central's line. I loved seeing the long haul trains come through with a few locals.

    That KCS train coming into Hattiesburg was crossing the old airport road crossing in the Palmers Crossing community. I taught school over there in that community and I would watch the trains pass by while teaching music classes.

    Im assuming that engineer running the Bessemer unit was not too friendly to railfans based on the blurred out video!

      No, he did something stupid that would have gotten him fired if I left it un-blurred.

    I always enjoy these videos. Always very informative and great scenery. There was one engine when it blew its horn reminded me of the blue Conrail engines, don't remember which one. Looking forward to the next video

    KCS is the only class 1 railroad I haven’t seen yet, I really hope I get the chance too before it’s too late. And holy cow, I have no idea how just those 2 locomotives were able to handle such an unbelievably long train, thanks Precision scheduled railroading lol

      If you ever wanna see every major class one railroad drive through the port of Houston or Houston yards. You’ll see every major class one, rare motive power models, and a ton off odd ball schemes and locos that work the plants and locals. It’s a bummer kcs/cp is happening in the sense that I feel like they have by far the best class one paint scheme, but im excited for Cp’s next 2860 Hudson to make its Canada-Texas-Mexico tour

    That mentioned E-W route from Dallas TX to Shreveport LA is a historic and busy line that basically parallels Highway 80. Many of the old towns along 80 are great places to watch trains, especially Wills Point downtown area. Wills Point used to be a major coal and water stop during the steam era as it is about the half way point between Dallas and Longview before crossing into LA to Shreveport. They dug a massive reservoir with its own pump station in the middle just to keep the water towers filled. It's now called Willow Lake and a private residential area, but the concrete platform that once supported the pump station is still standing. Longview has a large BNSF yard that just about every important line in the area joins into somewhere. The original yard from the steam era has had a lot of track removed and is fairly rough, but the old Y track used to turn steam locomotives around is still in place despite being shortened. Even though it's mostly UP trackage with the BNSF yard, KCS has a presence in Longview and the distinct paint jobs on their locos really makes them stand out. They normally run 2 newer -9/4400 style units pulling long mostly intermodal freight VERY SLOWLY through Longview usually with a helper in the middle. Never get to see any of their older units passing through, unfortunately. Also, I really hope the KCS paint schemes stay on their locomotives. That's the nicest paint scheme on any modern Class 1 RR out there. The CN units that pass through here just look bland.

    Something I would like to point out. The KCS 3219 and 3205 are indeed SD40-2’s but the KCS 6092 is actually a SD40. The one difference is the number of holes on the wheel trucks. An SD40-2 has 6 holes on each side of the locomotive. An SD40 has 4 holes on each side of the locomotive. Nice Train Video as always.

    • @ridleyscurry2480
      @ridleyscurry2480 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I think it is rocking. The ties might need replacing or something, because I think the rails or bending in spots as the engines run over them

    wow! these standard ge widecabs of todays rails ...are boring to watch compared to the wicked sound these old sd40-2s produce! Even the horns of today sound monotone /muffled and boring...compared.....These locos sound like they are saying..."GET OUT OF MY WAY>>CAUSE I WILL TEAR YOU UP!! Kinda like a rattlesnake giving you a warning stance.."I MEAN BUSSINESS"!!
