Negative Day won’t budge for a “Florida job” OSU hasn’t had a losing season in like 900+ years so that was an easy pick for that job. It’s not just about the HC position in the swamp it’s the total hierarchy there that needs to be rearranged. Once Napier leaves most the talent is gone with it. DJ Lagway, Tre Wilson Jason Marshall will be notable names to leave after November 😂. Love my gators

Does it have to be offensive minded? It would open up the pool of hires to get a defensive guy.
When the players say it's time for a change, they need to make the decision very quickly. Not acting fast enough, we could lose them just because of the decision making right now.
Here is how this will probably go down. Lane is loyal is no one. He is team Kiffin and Jimmy Sexton is his #1 fan. This will result in a price shootout between Ole Miss/UF. Given UF current dumpster fire, they will have to overpay….and I think Ole Miss will match and I think that will push back to Ole Miss. the other candidates are not worth discussion.
However, inserting Gruden does provide a dynamic. Liberal admin in UF might not want him but at the very least, this forces Sextons hand becuase he will fear the auction might not happen.
UF admin is VERY conservative so stop it and Gruden was trash as a Buc fan. Plus, he is a racist with his comments with the Raiders.

@adamb6370 I went to UF for 8 years for undergrad and graduate school from 2000 to 2008. I'm not mixing anything up my friend and know exactly what I'm talking about when I made the comment above. Maybe they are "liberal" in your opinion but they are very conservative in my opinion.
For example there is no other reason to hire Sasse in the first place outside of the fact that is who Desantis himself wanted and the UF BOT aligned with what Desantis wanted. In other words, they pwanted someone from the conservative side to be the president. It didn't work out but that is what they wanted. That is just one of MANY examples I can point to but I will digress and leave it at that because this is about football and not about policitcs.
Lane should have been hired three years ago instead of Billy. If UF fumbles this again they might as well leave the SEC.

Lanning reportedly turned down Alabama and has unlimited NIL money at Oregon. He wouldn't think of leaving for UF.
Kiffin is the clear #1, Drink is the other option. Don’t make either of those happen and we will be looking for a coach in a few years.
Lanning and Lincoln have literally no reason to leave the west coast for Florida.
Considering the time crunch with recruiting and the portal I think we will be doing an on the job interview for the next coach on Oct 5th in the Swamp. That coach is looking for redemption while the Gators are trying to be redeemed and the price should be affordable. Whether I like it or not is irrelevant. It's the money. It's always the money.

I agree with you. I would be surprised if Billy doesn't get fired after the Miss game win or lose. Like you said, the break is the key because it takes players a few days to adjust to the changes. We should know by Mon or Tues of next week.

Hire Lane now but let him finish at Ole Miss that way the players are aware of who is coming in to fix the issues. Lane can also recruit for the Gators while still finishing up at his current job.
Lane is loved in ole miss right now why would he leave? Recruiting classes are pretty similar, Billy has a slightly better one right now. But he’s getting paid pretty well, I don’t see why he’d leave.

Florida probably isn’t getting any of these coaches. Definitely not Lanning or Riley. Lane had some fascination with Spurrier back in the day but it all depends on how Ole Miss does. May have to look at Coach Drink, Matt Rhule, Bill O’Brien. If Florida strikes out on Kiffin they may have to settle.

Before you say anything about Lane Kiffin, I am going to say that I do not like him, have never liked him, and in all great likelihood, WILL never like him. He has just the kind of personality that we don't need. Second, there's something missing from our criteria - what happened to the Defense? Offensive minded is great, but without defense, you're gonna be running uphill forever. As I said over on the side, there, I say Charlie Strong.

Offensive minded, proven winner (in the SEC no less) and he can recruit. He beat Saban numerous times and tore Kirby's defense apart, all when Alabama was clearly the better team.
