    Hello Doug, I have some questions about how you hooked up your switcher with the BRBS, because I ordered one :-). I also have an switcher and want to switch the amp with it. Did you used the ethernet-cable? And how connected you it with your switcher? greetings from germany. Joe

    • @DougErapps
      @DougErapps  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Joe. i used the midi out of my switcher (Free The Tone ARC-4) to the midi IN of the amp. i believe midi channel 1 works for changing the channels. Very easy!! you can reach out to BRBS for cc#s to control amp functions. If your switcher doesn’t have midi you’ll have to use the regular BRBS foot switch with the ethernet cable. I’m glad you ordered an amp!! It’s amazing!!! congratulations!🤘🏻🤘🏻

    Hey man just seeing this killer amp video and diving into your sig knaggs videos now! Long post incoming all about gettibg into my first potential knaggs kenai vs buying a les paul
    :
    I hope you will see this reply id be interested to hear your updated thoughts on how a knaggs kenai w lp style bridge compares to a les paul standard or even higher end gibson les paul custom shops r8 r9s since you have them all and have also had your knaggs for a few years now makes me that much more curious to know your opinions.
    ^
    Knaggs has all the prestige and quality going for them over gibsons history riddled with QC woes regardless of what price point, even custom shop models can have flaws and things on that make me cringe but anyhow I wish there were more video / reviews / demos like yours rocking a knaggs where most people would think to grab an LP for "that tone". For nearly any les paul there's thousands of reviews, demos out there, the knaggs kenai and other models steve stevens Eric steckel (your doug Rappaport model ) and the base level kenai not so much wish I could find more playthrough videos !
    ^
    I'm sure you see where this it going now;
    My 1st big Q in this novel and in as much detail as possible regardless if youre a little partial to one brand over the other even;) can you please tell me
    *How similar or different you feel knaggs is to say a les paul standard ? *
    (Assuming of course they're both none weight relieved and have 1 piece bodies and speced out somewhat similarly in general otherwise it will be like the gibson vs a thinner Prs comparison.)
    ^
    The main reason I am asking is because like most players who see knaggs that have a love hate love relationship with their les Paul's - I've always wanted something different that does that les paul thing" w higher quality but nothing can do it over the years, I keep wanting to buy say a higher end LP slash november burst or victoria gold top as that is the middle ground between the newer les paul standard 50s and the much higher custom shop tier ( std 50s are also an awesome les paul that gibson got right at a production level but like always u have to go cherry picking to land a winner and sift out the duds)
    ^
    I've saved nearly enough for a used customshop les paul if one comes up used or the newer slash les paul standard and other recent gibson standards as my previous weight relieved gibson lp classic did not quite speak to me.
    Now the problem with knaggs here in canada atleast for me is lack of availability within 1000+ km ; no try- before you buy- factor working in my favor since there's only 2 dealers in allll of canada and unfortunately those 2 are not even in my province, making a trip out to those 2 places would be near possible any time soon and I don't have the time to book a flight out that way and definitely no chance in pulling a road trip to Quebec or BC lol
    :
    So watching a ton of videos and reading up on several knaggs interviews with Peter, Joe other players like Steve stevens, yourself and Eric steckel has me pretty confident in taking the plunge to custom order a knaggs w Eric steckel les paul body style thickness
    BUT
    My big goal is to end up with that les paul killer - a knaggs speced like a les paul, the custom shop I've always wanted that a Gibson could never deliver ; so with the eric steckel full thickness mahog body and neck plus that maple cap finally whatever pickups either sds or bareknuckles;
    *
    * Do you believe its possible for a knaggs steckel based kenai made like that could actually sound and feel damn well like a solid les Paul standard but with that laser precise consistent joe knaggs treatment?
    Was this your experience that made it beat les paul in most areas ?
    :
    :
    Personally the icing on the cake factor is missing from alot of the other companies, the 1 otger thing I need to have cosmetically is a binding on the body and fretboard in order for the whole guitar to feel les paul ish ( no offense to yours ;) number 2 is the solid non weight relieved body. PRS would not make the cut here since even the SC245 visually looks off to me with a beautiful top, perfect bound body then all of a sudden a fretboard with no binding at all and bird inlays lol.
    ^
    What I keep hearing is that knaggs has gibson and even prs beat in that sense. If I order a kenai with 2 bindings , a thicker body like the erick steckel im hoping to achieve that more vintage inspired les paul sound that PRS esp , ltd , schecter and other companies just havent been able to nail yet in order to go head to head with a les paul.
    ^
    I mean if it was good enough to make guys like yourself and Steve stevens (a big les paul lover as well ) put down his paul from time to time and use his knaggs SSC when he has dozens of vintage and speced out with a fine comb custom shop LP builds to his liking to be wowed by the knaggs take on an LP essentially then that to me speaks volumes.
    Surely if knaggs couldn't capture that magical les - paul ish vibe - then he wouldn't have put down his speced out custom shop les Paul's that he's had for decades and agree to out his name on the knaggs headstock right? Aha
    ^
    I've also tried several mccartys or pre lawsuit PRS sc245s and they felt way more comfortable and held tune much better than an LP for sure but did not sound or feel like a les paul with that big percussive oomph" or thunk" with every chord and note unfortunately..
    As it stands Joe knaggs has my attention with the Kenai or Eric steckel kenai with it's full thickness body to be the one for a les paul guy to "convert to". I love the les paul not knocking gibson here at all! just knowing that knaggs has a slightly more comfortable alternative that is leaps and bounds past gibson in QC seems very tempting but of course it has to nail the big les paul tone or else it is like PRS vs Gibson all over again and as I said it's a gamble for me even if knaggs is 100% consistent because I have to order in slim pickings for us Canadians at this time..
    ^
    If youve come this far thanks in advance for reading my novel mate! Lol
    I'd love to hear your thoughts responses to my main points and any feedback you might have whenever you get the chance, i know i didnt make this easy with my novel above I thought I would be as detailed as possible in the event you might see this.( I know you were also a les paul player before you picked up a knaggs as well )
    ^
    Oh and I know things like describing the feel of the neck compared to a les paul standard is very subjective and is very hard to do online instead of getting your hands on it in person but if you could even compare your knaggs kenai neck shape to a specific les paul like standard 50s, 60s or an R9 etc that helps alot as well in order to get a mental picture of what their neck profiles are.
    * if it's anything like the les paul standard 50s or standard 60s or a happy medium of the 2 then that will probably be just fine for me. *
    ^
    Thanks in advance for any replies / feedback cheers from Niagara Canada man
    🤟🙏

      longest comment ever. Lol! You absolutely cannot go wrong with.Kmaggs. It is an absolutely outstanding guitar. However, it is not the same as a Les Paul. It has a similar warmth and a similar mid range mahogany bump, but it is not the same as a Les Paul. For me, only the Les Paul custom shop guitars are worth buying. That’s where I start. My first signature model had binding on the neck and the body. Faux binding actually. Knaggs will make you whatever you want. If you’ve already had Les Pauls, try the Knaggs. As long as you understand, it is not a Les Paul, but its own beast with its own outstanding sound qualities. Then I believe you would be very, very happy.with Knaggs. I’m not comfortable buying a guitar site unseen, but in your situation, you may not have a choice. Whatever. Knaggs sends you will be killer
