Update from Kask. They have identified the locking mechanism as a problem and retailer's have been asked to identify and return all effected units. Problem is some people have reported it failing after several rides. So, you may be lucky and get one that lasts, but personally I'd just buy the old one while you can at a much reduced price for basically the same helmet.
It's not the same helmet. The fit is vastly improved. The old one squeezed tighter on the sides and had a pressure point on my temples from the bend in the Octofit structure. The Protone Icon fit my round head much better. The older pads also felt hot and fuzzy, and the newer one feels cooler and smoother on my forehead.
Hey Chris, Does the "vertical stabilizer" bother you at all? Like does it bounce around and make the helmet feel loose? Obviously no one likes a helmet that's too tight but I don't want it to feel like it's not on securely if it moves around too much.
Hi, great review. Have you tried Radar EV glasses with this ? Wondering if they can be stowed away nicely on the front without pulling apart too much - also are arms hitting the ear retention sysyem ? cheers
The kask protone icon would have been amazing if it wasn't for that one major flaw. the adjustment knob in the rear falling apart! hundreds of recent protone's icon are arriving defected if not falling apart within two months. i considered buying the icon considering the s-works are pretty much out of stock every where but after doing research i might stick with the original protone.
In a single week I have bought two of these. Returned one last Wednesday because the adjustment dial fell apart within seconds of trying it on. And today exactly a week later I received another one in the post, and the exact same thing happened. For a helmet of £245 this is terrible. I've also seen another person reviewing it with the same problem...
Do not buy this helmet or the Elemento because the dial of the octofit+ system is too fragile. I have 2 elemento helmets and the dial broke for no reason and the company does not want to do anything to repair my helmet. It's really sad because the helmet is really comfortable. I now have 2 $500 helmets that are no longer of any use to me. My bike shop told me that he had never seen a company with such terrible after-sales service!
I purchased one from the Competitive Cyclist a week ago and the wheel broke after the first ride. CC was super nice and I returned the helmet. They will send me a new one when they become available in September. We'll see how that one works. Hopefully no issues.

Chris, thank you for such an amazing update on the new protone Icon excited to connect ! Kwaity

My octofit system moves up and down super easy….if I throw my head back and forth even a bit there octofit will change position….is this normal?
Shoot, not that I’ve experienced.
Thanks for video - I use Oakley Radar EV and wonder if the longer arms touch the rear cradle ? cheers
Good to see they fixed the brow pad sweat thing, drove me mad.
Might just be my head shape- seems to be better than other helmets I’ve used.
Are you still using it? How's the retention doing?
Yup. No issues.

If I did, it’s been years. Based on the profile of those glasses, I’d imagine they would be okay.
Great overview...Where did you get yours from? Almost impossible to find
Hello what do you think about MET Trenta 3k Carbon? Do you think is better that the Protone Ivón?
I haven’t used it, but have a friend who uses one regularly. I’ve heard nothing but positive feedback and I think it looks great.
Thanks for the video. Anyone know the weight of size large?
I’m not sure. I would guess the kask website lists it.
Another great video. Thanks alot! :-)
Thanks!
Have you had Evade II? How does it compare?
I’ve had a few of them. They’re both awesome.
Ciao, quick question about sizing: I’m 58,5 cm better M or L?
medium

I’ve heard. Haven’t had an issue with mine, thankfully.
Great vid! 👍

Chin strap that shatters… over time.

The same happened to me, I had to return it, and now I got a xnito helmet, working fine so far
Utopia has 37,5% less drag than Protone

Mushroom
It's a shame about the dials
I think they have that issue sorted now, right?
The new retention system is junk. Mine fell apart at 1st use and all reviews from UK retailers are saying the same. Everyone is sending them back.
Bizarre. I’ve had no issues with mine.
I never got these helmets. I can’t stop thinking the helmet is on backwards. 🤷🏻♂️
Did you just say "9 11"? #neverforget
Ah, man… total missed opportunity.
Got the protone icon superb model by kask✌️🫰👍😊
It’s a good one!
