Hey, just a quick update from Focusrite!. The Preamps themselves are not RedNet, but the convertors are! The 4th Gen Scarletts have all-new remote-controlled preamps with 69dB of gain. They also have a huge 120dB dynamic range, using their flagship RedNet convertors. 🎶🎶🎶
The main value of massive dynamic range isn't to capture nuanced playing (this was possible on tape with c. 60dB dynamic range) and using the whole 120dB of dynamic range will blow your eardrums (both at capture time, and reproduction if you can find something studio sized that will go that loud at your listening distance). The major benefit is that you can record at a lower level, for whatever reason (accidentally setting gain too low), and recover easily by adjusting in post. Having that amount of gain, with such low noise, is a wonderful thing - now our mic/source self-noise becomes the problem. Modern gear is soooo good!
Can you split the Main Inputs instead of them being tied together as stereo? That is something I have been hoping to get for years. If this is perfect for podcasting, I would guess they can be separated.
is there a perceivable difference in gen 4 vs gen 3 on say the 4i4, for microphone recordings. Aside from level differences. I thought Gen 3 was pretty transparent?
Most ppl will now RUN AND BUY THESE BASED ON THE GUY FROM FOCUSRITE AND HE ALL WELL & KNEW THEY WERENT THE REDNET PRE-AMPS when he said they were and most ppl don’t LQQK HERE IN THE COMMENTS - Video should be edited and reposted my IMHO 😠😟😒😏🤯👎🏽👎👎🏻
I dunno about that. I'm more interested in the comment where they said they are the converters from rednet. Imo this will make everything better.. Pre amps are pre amps
Because it is less clear what's different between 3rd and 4th gen of the same thing, than it is between two different product lines. Also, if you're still curious, there is an article on focusrite's website that explains the difference between clarett and scarlett.

a latency performance-test would be the most important thing to know.
Yes. Companies and even many video reviewers never mention how the latency is.
@@carpediemearth It is crap on my Gen 3

That's pretty cool! About airmode, isn't that also available in Gen 3.. so what is the difference between the Gen 3 and Gen 4 for airmode?
Your audio sounds amazing, can you show us how processing (eq/compression etc) you use to achieve this sound?
I'm not fussed about upgrading. I keep finding really cheap interfaces second hand. I'm on my second scarlett, 6i6 2nd gen... Makes beautiful music...
Headphone switch at 3:55 just so there is no confusion.
good catch!
Hello! Does 18i16 has this good preamp mentioned in the video, like in 2i2 or 4i4. Or is it even better?
I love this channel for podcast gear. I know it's small, but its' great for me. Btw the guest is a dead ringer for Daniel Radcliffe
haha I get that alot!

Great review: Question, 2023 4i4 Focusrite 4th Generation Scarlett Line inserts on the rear (3-4) 100% bypass the preamps?
Hi Alexes, nice video. Can the interface be used with iOS devices? They have separated power and data usb-c connections, right?
Hi, yes 4th generation Scarlett devices are tested and proven to work with MacOS, Windows, and iOS devices.
@@FocusriteTV cool, good to know. Thanks for clarification. I didn’t find this on the website.
Can you play guitar along to sound from youtube through a daw at same time .
Hmmm now this vs UA Volt series
Thanks for the presentation, British Charlie Day.

The air mode supposedly sounds better and i think the auto gain will definitely make for better recordings
love the Cat Division lol

There's a whole lot of crackling noises in this video 😐
why everyone keep comparing with the gen 3?
A more interesting comparison would be against clarett.

@0Jebus0 ok, i get that, how about giving some feedback about gen4 and actually recomending it? Makes more sense in 2024
M 1 D 1 LOL :)
I bought a 3rd generation 2 weeks ago and no one told me that the fourth generation was coming.
I feel ripped off by Focusrite.
It's still a good interface lol
