***** I am glad that you feel that way. Good for you. But trust me I know how they do stuff. Lets just say I work with them quite often. But I hope to clarify, Not all fly boys is what I described them to be. There some whom are great friends of mine great guys, humble, kind etc. But of course there are black sheep everywhere, I just got a feeling that the amount of "publicity" bestowed upon them played a part in cultivating some undesirable behaviour and attitude they have towards others. I believe the top brass understand that and you can obviously see some shift in emphasis on other airforce vocations, which in my humble opinion is the right first step. In fact I advocate the current "recruitment" or "recognition" initiative whatever you call it to be expanded to the other 2 services.
With good reason. The whole airforce is built around planes. Everything else is simply there to support the pilots and the planes. Cockiness comes with the whole package I suppose.
I kinda disagree. Its a team effort in order for any mission to be completed successfully. They are in the frontline, that's why they get the majority of the limelight. Movies are not helping either. Yes agree, not everyone can do what they do. What I am trying to say is ,some of them feel they are the only ones that makes things work and 1 level up above the rest. It's this type of attitude that can cost a nation dearly. And it is this that disgust me.
I know that the comment was posted a week ago. I can't ignore the comment without giving my personal and honest opinion about RSAF pilots. I apologise as I have to disagree with the comment posted. We do not know who they really are and what kind of person they are until we meet them in person, have conversations with them and spend time with them. Until then, we should never judge pilots in any way (actually, we should never judge anyone). Or perhaps, they just look that way ('cocky'). We may see them with that 'cramped' face at times. But we must know this. They put Singapore first, before themselves. Their minds may be clogged up with personal life troubles/problems and could be thinking about them during that time. Also, they could be drained physically and mentally (imagine yourself travelling at high speeds and at the same time, pulling high G turns, alongside extreme maneuvers for training. You get onto a swing and swing hard for at least 20 hours). To me, the whole of Republic of Singapore Air Force is on the frontline. They work as one. The Air Warfare Officers, Air Operations & Systems Experts, Air Defence Systems Specialists, Air Force Engineers and all the other officers of the various vocations are standing together on the frontline. The whole of our Air Force. That's one of the reasons why 'One Force' can be read on the title of this awesome video. And just in case if you were wondering who I am - I am just a proud Singaporean teen. I hope that I had not hurt anyone's feelings! :)
