it's probably because thealbum has this sort of "end of the road" theme to it. In the ITunes sesión interview Murdoc explains what the messagethey wanted to transmit was, you know, what they wanted to say. He explains it waaaay better. Check it out
You're right, a lot of songs on the album are sad. Maybe considering what the last guy said plastic beach did mark a new direction for Gorillaz in a way
AlienaxD1 yeah man. Stylo had me in tears Just joking. But yeah most of the song are so beautiful. Like: Empire ants Cloud of unknowing To binge And the list just goes on
... this version i personaly think is better...more demon days sounding... and the way damon changes the range of his voice....but Womaks is alot more Plastic beach, so both are GRRRRRRREEEAAAATTTT
i imagine watching the sunset as the worlds problems continously grow until the total point of complete annihalation of everything around us, i would stand from a distance, letting it unfold, just watching by until i am lost in oblivion, while this song plays...
Well in all honesty, this should have been the album version. Its potentially one of Damon's best ballads! Its annoying how unselfish he is with his songs! god dammit
@BBoldtThaMixer I disagree. To me, Damon's voice conveys so much more subtle emotions, it sounds so sincere and real I can nearly relate to it. I keep skipping Bobby's version, because it never really clicked for me, I just simply never am in the mood to listen to it. There's never a good time for me to play it. I don't feel it. But that's just me ;)
It sounds like a 2D cover honestly. I love it to death, but Bobby simply embodied the lyrics and made the song the way it had to be. "The age and the experience", as Murdoc said. You can feel in his voice the entire life he's weaved, it's incredibly emotional.
Its ironic that the title cloud of unknowing is a medieval christian text about how to connect to god through a negative road, where god is totally unknowable and one must renounce all ideas about god, in order to reach him.
They should do that live...in the same way in memory of Bobby.
He was battling dementia when they made the album.
They showed Damon singing this in the documentary
@@Crim_5009 that scene made me tear up so hard
They have 2 concerts in a row! I really hope they keep it on the Setlist for the rest of the tour 🤞
wow
with 2-Ds voice, it sound so much sadder
Arrogant Anarchist Are you telling me that 2D and Damon Albarn are the same person?
Yoav Ledezma Don't know if you're ironic or not?^^'
david leal Ironic, bro. It's a prank.
@@aramledezma4230 ofcc
@@aramledezma4230 they don't actually have the exact same voice as 2D's voice is made digitally off Damon's voice
im not crying youre crying
what
it's okay :)
it's just beautiful
Shut your sensitive ass up
Nevermind I cried too
My god.. soo amazing.
Is it just me, or most songs from Plastic Beach is sad as hell. But beautiful too

Beautiful... I wonder if they did this after Bobby Womack passed away, and they sang this in his memory...
wtf
No, Bobby passed on in 2014, this was done in 2010
I cannot express how beautiful this is. I can't tell which version I like more!!
i imagine watching the sunset as the worlds problems continously grow until the total point of complete annihalation of everything around us, i would stand from a distance, letting it unfold, just watching by until i am lost in oblivion, while this song plays...

Netwanderer23 I had a lot of those thoughts too back when I would listen to this album

Peaceful.

I think more than one came from my eyes
this is so sad. Hearing this after watching the iTunes interview, the last bit, gives this song a whole new meaning....I'm sad now....
Can you tell me what itunes interview are you talking about??
They say the perfect song dosent exi-
This is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard
Cloud of unknowing, always was a haunting song.
I love this version so much more than the album one.
its awesome but doesn't exactly fit the tone of the album overall.
bobby did so much better in my opinion, more emotion, more depth.
Joy I prefer the album version, I think Bobby puts more depth into the lyrics
Joy u tweaking

The song should have been a duet just like To Binge or Empire Ants. You can’t change my mind.

This is so beautiful I teared up a little. Everyone has to know about this.
Ughhhh they're both so powerful... I can't pick a favorite
This version has something special... maybe the fact was i heard this on a very important phase on my life.
This makes me wanna cry even more now ...no fair 2d
@BBoldtThaMixer
I agree, bobby womack's version is so powerful. This one was really good as well!
I love this song, so much

Absolutely beautiful, haunting
🌷favourite version to me🌷
My heart just literally drop and break like a glass
every time I listen I cry
I'M NOT CRYING! WHO PUT TEARS ON MY PILLOW!
Sounds like a song from Life is Strange ngl
This is far more tender than Womack's version. I love it.
I loved the womack version but this just has more soul, sadder, it's beautiful
Still... 3 years later. God damn!
smooth as ice
this is amazing. acoustic is lovely
This is just amazing
This version is so much more gut wrenching
Incredible.
OH FUCK I LOVE THIS.
This gives me a Désolé vibe
Peace to my man Bobby Womack
Awesome. Could you upload the other songs from the KCRW? That would rock man.
Genuinely cried.. Ahaha wtf hes literally god

This would sound so good with the other instrumentals!
i prefer this version cause it sorta keeps the feel of plastic beach

Raccoon Child 2D did it better
Sounds just like The Magic Whip's era Blur.
This version is better in my opinion
@IGETTHUMBSDOWNALOT1 I agree wholeheartedly...
... except on that very last bit. >>;
@McEvoy2006 Haha, best comment I've seen about Gorillaz yet.
i just died

I'm not crying YoU ArE
@rkukentertainment Yeah but would love mp3s of these.
I think this is about God
Do I sence a P-Side?
I wish :,(
@bodosegogo nah, isnt
too bad this wasn't the album version.....
The beginning sounds like something out of RDR2
MErci du PArtage l'ami
Anyone know the tabs for this?

Why have you disabled ratings, who can't like this.
Kknkkkooll
Sorry but this just is not the superior version. Bobby’s is best
