Man you’re a lot like me. I run a Garmin OTR DZL truck GPS as well as a phone with Google Maps In Satellite view. Makes it super easy to get into shopping centers. Just be careful not to hit a railroad track and bounce that phone out the window like I did about 6 months ago.
Around the fifteen minute mark you said “don’t get on the right side of my trailer” when I drive anywhere near a semi truck I give them plenty of room and slow down some to let them do what they need to. Love your videos.

Then when they get to the angled dock/ramp in back, 90% of the drivers can't line up. The ramp walls aren't perpendicular to the dock and the tractor is like a foot away from the wildlife refuge at the back of the building.
Hang gliders use a launch point on the ridge you're climbing at that "scenic view". It can be fun to sit in that pullout and watch them glide down into the valley when they're flying.

Me: as an associate of Marshall's (tj Maxx, home goods, Sierra) your right also we make sure you don't have extra pallets with goods on it, people laugh but it happens more than you think. in my Safeway days the driver would have switched an order that actually is for another store one of us mangers would have to call the other store and be like: omg you guys stop stealing our orders lol 😆 but rather than call corporate to have the truck come back I'd sometimes load it in my car and vica versa....by 01 someone snitched and we had to stop that, on the downside I waa like Dave 10 bucks says your gonna end up moving to the other dock but no your l Iike that was the right dock boys ☹️ oh well
Depends on the company relationship, I deliver milk to grocery stores. we have one seal that is put on by our warehouse; we break the seal at our yard to ensure the yard jockey didn't mess up putting the correct trailer number for our route, load up our equipment and then head to our stops (we also have keys to some of the stores to do deliveries prior to them opening), but then you have other truckers who need to show seals to the same store; all depends on product delivery and the company relationship(shipper and receiver)
@kolosis1149 that's true as well I've also been mgr for Safeway for a long time so yea I know the ups, mail service, and soda drivers are on their own many stores have soda/snack machines in break rooms someone just needs to use the code for that guy

I did triple stops when I delivered Toyota Forklifts for West Side Transport, but did not like knocking off wood wedges with a mallet and crowbar that were nailed to the floor and were used to keep them in place. That is the worst place for parking spaces and a tree at the second stop
I hope you stopped at that Cookout when you went to the second Gabe’s. I moved from NC back to NY and I’ve missed that place ever since. 😂😂 Great vid and great planning… as usual.
Ps. I think a lot of drivers may not know how much space a truck needs that’s why they get beside you. I didn’t know before I started training and learning.
Trip planning is one of the things I miss about doing OTR... but every now and then, my job has me go to new stores so I get to do it every now and then haha (they know I ran OTR and did trip planning so have confidence in sending me to stores I haven't seen without sending me with someone who has gone to them)

Likely not often helpful in your situation but with all your research do you check Street View? For your first stop you could see that hill just before the store and on the second stop you could go all the way around the building. You have to be careful though since the Image capture was in 2017 when it was a K-Mart.
So I'm confused, why exactly did you do that really weird back up with that last load? I get there were two other trucks there, but could you not have driven past the red truck in front of the dock and backed up from there? Obviously I'm not a truck driver so I don't know, but just basing it off of the video it looks like that whole areas was open and would have been a lot easier to back in from.
Getting my CDL at my local trade school here in a few month. Not looking for in depth but can somebody give me a list of what I should really study and practice that they will teach you and expect you to know? To be 100% honest my only biggest flaws are math 😬 but i work on it. Thank you thank you for the help!!

Dave that squeeling noise your truck is making or is it your truck. If so you might want to let your company know nothing no worse than a turbo going out on the road.

You are quite the pessimist, you underestimate yourself give yourself credit for a job well done. I was OTR about 30 to 40 years ago whe3n we didnt have GPS or good internet to help. I did have a scary time when dispatch told me the wrong town and I ended up in a residential area about 3AM. Had to manuver thru narrow residential streets, scaryeeee.

I hate that so many dock areas have tons of unmarked doors, makes it way harder for us drivers to know where to back up to.
