I can't thank you enough. I have to Kitchener stitch a band of a hat that has 4 knit 3 purl 15 knit 3 purl 3 knit and I have never done a graft in my life!!
I am preparing and watching a LOT of YT videos. Yours is the FIRST to show how to switch back and forth from knits and purls and not only that but to have the timestamps AND the written steps is immensely helpful! Seriously...this has been giving this novice knitter some anxiety and you have given me the knowledge and courage to do it. I will rewatch your videos several times and I just mentioned to my hubby (it's 1:18 AM )that I should knit up a quick practice piece to practice before I work the hat.
Thank you again, so so so much!!

Those written instructions are a lifesaver! I've done Kitchner stich before, but not purlwise, and I had to switch back and forth a lot. I'm familiar enough with the stich to understand the written part, but not enough to do it without instructions, and looking back up at them with every switch was a lot easier then clicking to different spots in the video.

Thank you for this very clear and instructive video. You explain very clearly how to transition between both knit and purl stitches! I hope you do not mind me mentioning your video in one of my projects on Ravely. The grafting on my cabled cowl looks perfect, thanks to your amazing instructions.

Nice video, but have a question. I only want to graft purl stitches. Do I do the #1 setup and also the #3 setup?

i'm so confused. so a kitchener knitting stitch is sewed with a needle?

    • @artandneedlework

The kitchener stitch is a sewing/grafting stitch. It connects already knitted stitches to other knitted stitches by using a large blunted sewing needle, usually referred to as a tapestry needle.

@@artandneedlework It would have been helpful for you to say what you just said above at the beginning of the video. I had no idea what I was watching until the end. Then it made sense.

@@Dennissiple She does. And isn't it obvious that she's using a tapestry needle and not a knitting needle?
Don't be so rude. She did a fantastic job with this video.
