I officially love this for a toe closure, and I love shadow wraps for the heels! And I love 9inch circular needles! Between them all I can knit socks! Yippee!!
Excellent! I botched the kitchener stitch on my sock toe but at that point I just wanted it done, and I actually like feeling the seam at the toe of the sock, so I think I will try this on the next sock :) Thank you!! (and the braid does look cute, you're right!)

Thank you for that video using a crochet hook! I actually used it to join a sleeve onto a baby cardigan and the "braid" actually looks cute and it has retained its elasticity which I was a tad bit wary about!
Thank you Liat. This is perfect for garter stitch which I use to join using 3 needles bind off. And I was never happy with 3 needles bind off because I kept making visible stocknitte seam.
I was searching for a tutorial on grafting cable stitches, but this one is way cool for grafting garter. I'll have to try it some time. I'm going to poke around and see if you have one on what I was actually looking for.
I really like this I tried my first Kitchener stitch on a infinity scarf grafting the two ends together and though I understood the mechanics with all the two needles and the awkwardness of it I made a pigs ear of it this would be much easier for me I think thank you.........................
I believe ifyou inserted the crochet hook in the back loop of the stitch (think of the way you slip the stitch when you SSK) you will not have a twisted stich. I do like the process of the join. Thank you for sharing.
I'm curious to know how this looks with stockinette and what it's like on the inside (e.g., is it smooth enough for a sock toe?), so I guess I'll have to make a swatch and give it a go. Nice tutorial. The other advantage of this method is that you don't need that long tail that you do for kitchener and which I sometimes haven't made quite long enough. This is interesting.

This is a nice alternative to Kitchener stitch. Thank you for sharing. But I think it would have been nice to also see the inside of the sample. Is the seam on inside, resemble a graft seam, is it a raised seam or smooth and unnoticeable one? Please do not answer if you have not done this finish before and/or not the creator of the video.

If you don't have a tapestry needle, you could still use the crochet hook and pull it through with the hook. Thanks for this video!

I was wondering the same thing. Would you end up with a lumpy toe on a sock?
Its slightly raised on the outer side, smooth inside, and not noticable to me on a sock.
