*Question of the Episode: What is your favorite Reptile House?* Scales down, easily, the Saint Louis Zoo's Herpetarium. Not a pure reptiles house per say But the old Curiosity Caverns at Busch Gardens were my favorite, due to the cave theming Followed by Philadelphia Zoo’s Reptile House, St.Augustine Alligator Farms Komodo House, and Knoxville’s Old Reptile House, Sacramento and the Central Florida Zoo are after this
Not exactly a reptile house, but MOLA at the Fort Worth Zoo is easily my favorite. Great species variety, excellent modern design, has 2 amazing outdoor Crocodilian habitats (especially since they're able to breed Gharials) and also some nice interactive boards and areas for children. A close second to MOLA is The LAIR at LA Zoo. That one is fantastic as well.
I totally agree about the MOLA. I'm semi-local, and I've been to the Fort Worth Zoo a few times. I was there in October and got a great shot of their Saltwater Crocodile.
@TheBKLD Aw that's awesome! Salty is never in a great position for me to get photos. I've gotten some decent Gharial shots though! Glad to see another Fort Worth Zoo and Mola fan in the community.
My favorite Reptile Centers are a tie between Scaly Slimy Spectacular at Zoo Atlanta & MOLA at the Fort Worth Zoo. Great tour as always Zach. Can't wait to see what's next.
Another awesome episode Zach! Definitely wants me to make a visit to Toledo soon and see what they have to offer. As for my favorite Reptile house probably Knoxville because of how well down everything is with the design and species list. Overall have a great day and can’t wait for the next one!
I always love your videos! I’ll definitely add the Toledo Zoo to my bucket list. My favorite Reptile house is the Saint Louis Zoo’s Herpetarium. I love how historic it looks, I love how you can see certain terrariums from multiple floors, and it has a good collection of species.
Greetings from Germany, my favourite reptile exhibit is the Berlin Zoo Aquarium with has it's entite second floor dedicated to reptiles. They also show some pretty rare species like gharials, tuataras or croc monitors, and on the other two floors house a big variety of fish, amphibians and invertebrates.
My favourite reptile house is the complex of houses around the manor in Cotswold zoo, with the bat, siamang, reptile and invertebrate houses all linking up.
I've only been to a few zoos, but I adore feathers and scales/birds and reptiles at the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois. Putting birds (which are reptiles) with the rest of the reptiles just shows a great respect for phylogeny, and I love when zoos do that.
Great video! My favorite reptile house is the one at the National Zoo. Such a lovely variety and features uncommon species like the Cuban Crocodile. This one at the Toledo Zoo also looks really nice. I especially dig the statues of extinct reptiles!
My favorite was the Miami Serpentarium. I’m not sure if it still exists, but it was my go-to spot every birthday. I still have pictures of them milking venomous snakes, including a 14 foot king cobra.
my favourite reptile house would be the one at Zoo Antwerp, in Beligium. Despite it being a historic building of the zoo, it has a renovated interior with big and beautiful terrariums for the zoo's impressive reptile and amphibian collection. To top it all, it ends with two bangers: a Komodo dragon enclosure and a walkthrough with iguanas and tortoises
I haven't been to a ton of zoos, and less that have a dedicated reptile house. As a New Englander (see why I haven't been to that many zoos yet?) I thought San Diego's Reptile Gardens having a bunch of fully outdoor exhibits and even having the indoor areas be open air was a novelty, but my pick would actually be Zoo Atlanta. It may be unsurprising given how new it is, but their reptile exhibit is really awesome.
Seeing the tuatara at Toledo was a very memorable experience for me, as it is the animal that surprised me the most to see in real life. I always thought of tuataras more as rock iguana sized animals, so to see something akin to a bearded dragon is size was really unexpected!
While far from being overwhelming, I like my Cincinnati hometown zoo’s reptile house. Dating back to the 19th century, it has the honor of being the oldest zoo building in the country still in use.
To be honest, being European my favorite reptile houses are ones you’ve probably never been to, but the reptile house in Pairi Daiza is something else. My favorite American one I’ve been to is probably the on in San Diego.
My favorite reptile house is the one at the Bronx Zoo, also the thing you said in the mouse house vid about the world of darkness being closed didn’t age well because it will reopen in the summer of 2025
My favorite reptile house is Columbus because obviously. But I went to the Toledo zoo three times this year and it was amazing, Toledo is my favorite zoo. I’m also a zoo fanatic and Cincinnati residence. Over 24 different zoos and aquariums in 2024. Funnily enough my boyfriend’s name is Zach lol.
My favorite reptile house that I have been to is defininetly either Knoxvilles or Atlantas. Knoxvilles has a lot of rarities and is very well drawn out. Atlantas is also very drawn out and has rarities but I think it takes the cake out of the two just because of the size and amazing interior work.
If I remember right from their videos, Brian Barczyk's Reptarium has Tuatara...you really ought to contact them, especially Lori there and get a tour of their current facility for an episode...possibly meaning you could have a second one in a few months when their new Reptarium & LegaSea opens Anyway, I still love Cincy's Reptile House
Thank you for the suggestion and actually the reminder! I talked to a spokesperson at AnimalCon and was invited to check out the LegaSea when the time comes.
Wow! I didn't know you showcase extinct animals (albeit models of them). If there was a zoo/safari park with cloned extinct animals, would you go there (as long as a Jurassic Park/Jurassic World incident doesn't happen)?
So not strictly a reptile house but Henry Doorly's Kingdoms of the Night focuses largely on reptile species and if it counts then that's my favorite. If it needs to specific to reptiles then I guess I'll go with San Diego. And Saint Louis also has a super cool reptile house because the collection is good and the architecture comes from the old World's Fair so it looks like an ancient Greek relic.
I recognize that JWD Quetz anywhere Kinda wish they kept the Pterosaur mounts Funny how there’s two JP references with Dilophosaurus and the JWD Quetz in the thumbnail
My favourite reptile house would have to be the Secret Life of Reptiles and Amphibians at Jersey zoo which has very naturalistic vivariums with some of them housing more than one species of herptile such as housing an emerald tree boa with golden poison dart frogs and strawberry poison dart frogs. They also house some species of herptile that aren't usually seen in captivity such as lesser Antillean iguanas, mountain chicken frogs, ploughshare tortoises and Telfair's skinks.
Well iv’e been to a lot of Herpetariums including Toledo’s but to be honest i’m gonna go with Saint Louis mainly because historical value and rare species including if im correct, the only Guatemalan Vipers in America and i heard there making a Komodo Dragon enclosure for Saint Louis.
Cheyenne Mountain Zoo in Colorado Springs has a reptile house that mixes reptiles with human elements. It does seem pretty cool but I hope the animals think so as well
My favorite Reptile House is the San Diego Zoo's Reptile Walk!🐊🐊🐊🐊 And visit the Woodland Park Zoo soon, Zak! Also, here are 5 zoo trivia questions for you & your girlfriend.... 1) How many years ago did the Honolulu Zoo originally house American Alligators? 2) Do you wish for the Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo & Aquarium to house giant anteaters in their Lied Jungle attraction? 3) Which zoos in America are known to house European Rabbits? 4) How many new elephants do you want the Oakland Zoo to welcome in the future? 5) What year did the old California Academy Of Sciences' Steinhart Aquarium once exhibited a Port Jackson Shark? Bless my scales and feathers!🐊🐊🐊🐊🐊
Next month the zoo will be renovating the reptile house. It will close on January 1st and will reopen mid to late 2026. Some of the things included will be an enlarged exhibit for Baru with underwater viewing, kiosks with 360 degree view and air conditioning for guests.
I've seen the Tuatara at the Dallas Zoo, which is my local zoo. The reptile house there leaves much to be desired, in my opinion. The species list is decent (at least it was when I was last there), but it just feels dated and not even in a good way. It's not a high priority stop in the same way that, say, the MOLA at the Fort Worth Zoo is.
My favorite reptile house has to be the Philadelphia Zoo because I really enjoyed seeing the big crocodiles and alligator when I was younger along with the venomous snakes like the king cobra and also seeing giant tortoises, rattlesnakes, anaconda, Boas, Gila monster and also the variety of other reptiles and amphibians and I also like the Bronx Zoos world of reptiles however the Philadelphia zoos reptile and amphibian house has to be my favorite because of the childhood memories I have of going into the reptile and amphibian house.
If have ZOO, I like to building a Large Reptile House🦎 with 5 stages: i) Snakes🐍 (Black Mamba, Boa Constrictor, Common Death Adder, Corn Snake, Eastern Copperhead, Gaboon Viper, Green Tree Python, King Cobra, Mangrove Snake, Northern Cottonmouth, Timber Rattlesnake and Yellow Anaconda). ii) Turtles & Tortoises🐢 (Alligator Snaping Turtle, Eastern Box Turtle, Giant Tortoise (Aldabra or Galapagos), Indian Star Tortoise, Mata Mata Turtle, Northern Diamondback Terrapin, Pig-Nosed Turtle, Radiated Tortoise, Red-Eared Slider Turtle, Snake-Necked Turtle and Spiny Softshell Turtle). iii) Crocodilians🐊 (American Alligator, Cuvier's Dwarf Caiman, Gharial and Nile Crocodile). iv) Lizards🦎 (Argentine Black & White Tegu, Blue-Tongued Skink, Caiman Lizard, Fiji-Banded Iguana, Frilled-Neck Lizard, Gila Monster, Jamaican Iguana, Plumed Basilisk, Prehensile-Tailed Skink, Texas Horned Lizard, Thorny Devil, Tokay Gecko, Tuatara and Veilled Chameleon). v) Varanids/Monitor Lizards (Emerald Tree Monitor and Komodo Dragon).

Always nice to see Zoo tours make a video on the local zoo!

Beautiful footage of my favorite Reptile House residents: Baru the crocodile and Large Marge the reticulated python.
One zoo outside the USA and New Zealand is Chester zoo in England. They are kept in one of the zoos many tropical houses.
I love Chester zoo! The enclosures are huge!
Great video! My favorite reptile
house is the one at the National Zoo. Such a lovely variety and features uncommon species like the Cuban Crocodile. This one at the Toledo Zoo also looks really nice. I especially dig the statues of extinct reptiles!
As someone who live a half hour away from the zoo, Baru is always a joy to see
Love the old building, and the exhibits are pretty good, and spacious! Not so weird!
My favorite was the Miami Serpentarium. I’m not sure if it still exists, but it was my go-to spot every birthday. I still have pictures of them milking venomous snakes, including a 14 foot king cobra.
Also my favorite reptile exhibit is the world of reotiles from the bronx zoo and the reptile house at san diego zoo
Awesome like all ur vids

Reptile Gardens is forsure the best reptile exhibit in the world. Theyre rated a top 10 zoo in America for a reason.

I like the reptile house at Columbus because its the only herpetarium I've seen that's organized by biome.
Next month the zoo will be renovating the reptile house. It will close on January 1st and will reopen mid to late 2026. Some of the things included will be an enlarged exhibit for Baru with underwater viewing, kiosks with 360 degree view and air conditioning for guests.
