I love Chat GPT 😂 when I’m in a pinch unable to figure out what to cook for dinner , I have put what’s in my fridge to Chat GPT and it will whip up a recipe for me. And it’s usually really good 😂
I love this idea. I recently bought a notebook from Barnes and Noble. I’ve been wondering what exactly what I wanted to use it for. I am so excited because now I have found the perfect thing to do with it. ♥️
I started doing this a couple years ago but didn't realize at the time it was called a commonplace journal. I just needed a place to write down all the things that struck me through the day...I wanted and needed to remember... gratitude...grief... favorite things...etc. It grounded my racing brain just a bit. Now I have different journals for different things...one for gratitude one for prayer one to quiet my crazy brain...one for work notes...one where I can write down thoughts about books...one for Bible reading..etc
I love the idea of indexing themes! I commonplaced a lot of quotes about reading, education and poetry last year so it says a lot about what mattered in my reading. I keep a “Book of Centuries” in my commonplace book which is a timeline for all of the books I read. I have a page for each century and write the titles under the century they were published in. 😄
Education/learning! I reformatted my commonplace journal too. Mine is combined with my personal journal and my book journal… everything is mixed together and written chronologically. I have the pages numbered and then an index in the back so I can quickly reference topics and categories and authors and titles.
Nice! I am a many notebook kind of person but I could see it being very interesting to combine it all and see the themes that are prominent each season!
I have wanted to start a common place book for the longest time, but have struggled with the set up too. I am inspired by your video, I will probably let go of perfectionism and write everything in there, even unorganized. I figured I could always redo it later, but having the information is more important than perfection.
I’ve had random “common place journals” that were just places for quotes. This year my 13 year old daughter inspired me to do something new. It’s bring sorted by month (mostly) and holding not just quotes but memories & doodles (because I want to work on both writing & art this year) I started setting it up before new years and jotted a page of Hope To Focus & Someday:bucket list alternative The Lazy Genius did a podcast on this and it was so encouraging & inspiring Each month gets a pretty “bullet page” month thing for fun and a starting quote. January has “I’ll have none of this ‘new year new me’ rubbish! I was fabulous then, and I’m fabulous now!” Maybe one day I’ll sort all my found quotes into one spot, I’d probably rather enjoy having that resource.
So i decided to start one this year. I'm going simple and may branch out in time. I'm only doing book quotes (from any book that has a quote that moves me or is just a beautiful prose-wise, etc. What i saw one booktuber do is after copying the quote, he writes how it made him feel or why he chose that quote. Sometimes he finds that he has a few in a row that "go together " so he just journals right there underneath those quotes what they are saying to him or how they make him feel etc. So I'm doing something like that. I like your idea of themes esp since you reuse yours like you mentioned.
I heard someone say when you feel the urge to pick up your phone, grab your cp book and reread it. I thought it was a great idea to remember which quotes you choose and why.
I just started the indexing feature in a commonplace book, and it has made all the difference for me! Far more motivating to use like this. I am adding topics as I go and just noting things from books, podcasts, and other media that strike my fancy. Topics in my index so far are mom quotes, ASD (my youngest was recently diagnosed, so I’m reading all the books - VERY interesting!), faith, ministry, creative (about the process and actual inspiration), and romance. I anticipate more with time! Now that I think about it, I need to create a spot for content that has made me laugh, too!
I love my commonplace book. I use colour dots for my categories and leave a margin on the outside of every page. I have categories like: sermons, mother culture, quotes, inspiration. I think if I made my categories too numerous I would quit fast. Lol
New adventures. You are in a new city, there has to be new places and adventures to have. 😊
I have been keep a daily gratitude journal since November of last year, and I feel like it has helped my mood so much!
I love that!

I've never thought of that, so brilliant!
@ the possibilities I’ve learned with Chat GPT are seriously endless! 😂

Oh yay, I hope you enjoy it!
Love it!

You sound like me with all the notebooks! 😊

Oh cool, I've used a book of centuries for things I'm learning in history, but have never thought to add the books I'm reading!
Education/learning!

Oh fun! I have not heard of this before! I need to try! I love journaling
It's really great when you come across so many great quotes in books and you have a terrible memory (ahem, me.).
I love those pens and highlighters I have the same ones!
They are so great!
I love it! I just started a journal for quotes, but I'll have them arranged by book.
That's pretty much the way my other commonplace book is, it can be fun to lay it out that way!
@ChantelKlassen I hope having a book of quotes will eventually make it easier for me to find quotes to sprinkle into my reading journal.

It can be so hard to get past the perfectionism, I can understand!

This sounds like such a great way to journal, and what a keepsake!!!
I keep a database on notion for all the quotes I like. With what book it's from and the theme of the quote.
That's a great way to do it!

That's a cool idea to do some journaling about the quotes after, I've never heard of that before!
I love that!

These are great ideas, and I love the idea of space for content that made you laugh, I need more laughs in my life!

That's a cool way to organize your commonplace book!
or avocado?! 😅 How about a section for Joy?
I totally should have joy, thanks! Haha, yeah, probably won't have one for avocado. 😊
I have those pens and highlighters!
Sweet! Do you love them as much as I do?
@ChantelKlassen yes i do! I was a little sad to see they didn't write pastel but I got over it. Lol
He never heard of a commonplace book 😊
I find them very fun!
They've been around for hundreds of years. I've been reading and watching videos about them in the past month or so. It's been enlightening.
I knew before you said it why you were not going to alphabetize! 🤣
😂😂😂 you know me so well!
@@ChantelKlassen Yes. And I can relate!🤣🤣🤣
