I think Grant did the Thumb design the best. Over priced but really good gloves. They feel like they were sculpted for a fight rather than just protection.
Crap, good question and so hard to answer because they’re SO close in terms of quality, performance, fit/ feel, etc.... PERSONALLY, I like the Flys, then these Grants (the padding is fantastic) and then Winning. I picked Fly because their hand compartment is probably one of the best if not the best in terms of comfort. But padding and feel-wise these Grants are a perfect blend for protection and feedback. I can throw bombs and not have any pain or be afraid to mess my hands up. Plus the pop is just the best.
Allowing yourself to experience the finer things in something that you have paid dues in and that you have genuinely earned to me is no longer a vanity issue its just an awesome reward. After a certain amount of hours boxing, luxury gloves are justified and worth it, even though $80 gloves will always be fine. My opinion.
Great video Carlo. They always are. Quality training clips. Love the way you rip those body shots in. They’re my favourite shots and I work on them a lot. Beautiful gloves. Expensive, but top class. I’m waiting for a pair of extra padded Cletos to be delivered from the US. Further down the line, my next pair will be either Winning or Grant. Thanks for the great work my brother.
@@csquaredboxing Hey Carlo. Just wanted to thank you for your review of the Cleto Reyes extra padding gloves you did a while ago. I brought these based on your review and mine arrived yesterday from the US. I used them today in sparring for the first time. I love them! Great knuckle protection and a super comfortable glove all round. These are my first pair of Cleto Reyes and I love the quality and craftsmanship. A big step up from my previous gloves. Thanks man. Much appreciated.
Damn, those hooks to the body! Great work on everything else, too. If Everlast has a 40% sale this July 4th, I'm pulling the trigger on their MX head gear, and possibly gloves, too.
Don't buy the head gear IMO. They are funky fitting. I tried one from another guy in the gym. Not comfortable, IMO. Just get a red winning headgear or similar. All the other MX stuff is great though, including the groin protector.
Right on man appreciate it, just trying to improve every day! I try to really work a lot on the body, especially in sparring it’s effective against head hunters or sparring bigger dudes that have a power advantage
@@customerservice9602 Thanks for the advice. It's for my son who is starting out boxing. We will just return it if he don't like it. @@csquaredboxing Definitely. I make sure my kid works the body shots on the heavy bag, especially the liver. Also going to buy a wrecking ball for our garage gym so he can work his uppercuts better.

You know whats crazy, i ordered my grants from them maybe 6 years ago in the standard colorway in 16oz directly from grant and they were 269, it is crazy how much the price has increased over the years...i only used them for a couple months then life happened...gloves are in mint condition, with that price im glad they are
Yeah man it’s crazy how expensive they have become. I had a pair I bought from ringside back in 2009 and I think they were $200 at the time. That’s when they were more affordable and available to the masses. Now they’ve gone boutique.
Hey Carlo, quick question for you. I have a pair of TC lace ups that I plan to use for sparring. Have you ever damaged gloves by the taping over the laces? By that I mean removing coloring from the gloves or damaging the leather.
Yes I had that issue on my old pair of winnings when taped off multiple times you could see it would start to de-laminate the leather a little bit with the combination of sweat and sticky residue from the tape. Not much you can do about it other than not using tape
csquaredboxing thanks for the quick reply. I feared that might be the case. I may opt to use my lacenloops with them then. I find that lace n loop can snag the laces some times, but pros and cons lol! At least laces can be replaced.
Cleto Reyes vs flys vs grant vs winning? Iv never tried the winning or flys however I like the cleto Reyes over the grants just because I feel the solid punches when I hit the heavy bag and mitts , I like the performance of the Reyes gloves. The grant gloves felt like the thumbs were too short on my hands. But if u could please put them on a list from 4th place to 1st place
Very curious on the "Orthopedic" version of Grants - known to be worn by Floyd Mayweather Jr. in both training and his fight gloves. The last time I consulted Grant Boxing about this, they confirmed the above statement, said it would cost an extra $75 for the Ortho version. @csquaredboxing , any chance of giving this a try? It's costly (as Grants are already very expensive)... but you get more hand protection and I guess the primary padding of the gloves should last longer due to your knuckles being shielded by the Ortho foam instead of direct knuckle contact into it.
Yeah I may give the orthopedic versions a try sometime in the future and post a review. Curious to see the difference in padding compared to their standard latex gloves.
@@csquaredboxing Nice. Yea they told me that the only difference is literally just adding a layer of orthopedic foam as the most inner layer (makes first contact with knuckles). I'm guessing that since the material is so light it doesn't really affect the overall weight of the gloves.

Haha Halloween is my favorite holiday. I actually just did the “unboxing” video to show the people how Grant gloves come in the mail and how they’re packaged since it’s a glove that not many people have.
Haha I know man, it’s hard to justify for anyone regardless of your budget. $400 is a tough pill to swallow for boxing gloves, yet alone $600 on up for customs. I used to compete back in 2002-2003 during my Air Force years when I was stationed in Clovis, NM, had a few amateur bouts in Lubbock and Amarillo, TX, I was 20 at the time. I’m planning on doing the international masters tournament here in Phoenix this November.
Yup, Im 36 now and still get carded lmao! I get it all the time so I'm used to it. Its funny, Filipinos in general age slower than most, so I can relate to Manny in the fact that hes 40 but still looks faster than most guys in their 20s.
Hey, I'm thinking about getting a pair of fairtex aura boxing gloves and I'd like to get your take on whether I should go with the aura, which is authentic leather and a bgv12 ($82), and the bgv 11 that you reviewed a month ago that was made from synthetic leather ($68). Is authentic leather worth the extra cash?
I think It’s good if you’re trying to build muscle but there’s weight retention with using creatine so it’s not really a supplement that’s good for boxing. Boxers need to stay lean and flexible since the power comes from the legs, hips, and rotation/ fundamentals. Creatine I think could help with building muscle, but that’s not a “goal” for a boxer.
