Yooo thanks! I’ve definitely seen your name on a couple wrs. I was really obsessed with speedrunning a good few years ago and this game was caught in the crossfire at some point, so I was pretty familiar with a bunch of tech going into the challenge. Kinda need a dang lot to do jumpless lol

Dude I’ve never seen BattleBlock theater like this before. Making it into an insane puzzle game, I can’t even comprehend how difficult and complex these are especially the “block deletion part” that was insane
Oh yeah this game is insanely mechanically deep. I tried my best to do it justice in this challenge, but you could dedicate an entire pannenkoek type channel around this game

Whenever I watch these, there’s always a few turning points of “Okay, some standard tech”, to “Okay, that’s pretty clever. Looks like he’s pretty good at this”, to “Is Sample… a genius or something?”
You have to be at least a little bit of an insane genius to do 100% TAS for games
Seeing you work out how the checkpoint system works in this game was so cool to watch.
Easily the most fun I’ve had scriptwriting. We didn’t work everything out while actually playing, but it was super satisfying to look back and develop an actual working theory.

Battleblock is one of my favorite games of all time, and you don’t understand how happy it makes me to be able to see new content from it. I always thought that this game was a gem that faded from peoples minds over time, so I can’t express how happy I am to be able to see people play it again
This puzzle platformer will be forever ingrained into my brain due to agdq 2015 and the infamous donation of "your a cheater!"

As a veteran of the coop speedrun this was an absolute joy to watch, and seeing someone else go through the process of figuring out the respawn system was weirdly cathartic :P Keep it up, love your content ❤
ayo I’ve seen your name on a wr speedrun or two! Speedruns in general were a huge inspiration for this video and my challenge running in general (battleblock was my first “challenge” game), so it’s super cool that you enjoyed!
Just a little fun fact at 26:52 if you didn't wanna stand on the edge of the block the dart gun is somewhat useful as it sticks to walls for a few minutes, so just use the first lava block aim at the wall land on the dart, I think shove gives you enough height to get you up to the ladder
That’s a good point, that totally would’ve worked. Standing on spikes isn’t actually that difficult though, so it wasn’t the biggest deal luckily

It's been an idea I've been considering doing myself, but I'm unsure if I'm unhinged enough to actually try it.
I'd love to see if unlocking all treasure pods in Slime Rancher 1 & 2 is possible WITHOUT the jetpack!
Slime Rancher 1 seems pretty feasible with some exceptions, such as those located on islands in the slime sea, but I'm honestly unsure if you can even ACCESS entire areas of Slime Rancher 2 through normal means.
The only thing that makes me think it's possible is the new "Gadgets My Way" update!
You seem to be the right kinda insane, so I hope ya give this challenge some consideration!

I absolutely love this game. I've been playing it even since it came out. It grew up with me. Seeing a recent battleblock theatre of any kind really surpised me. I didn't think anyone still had any interest in this really fun game. You guys were an exception. I saw this video recomended to me and did not look away as soon as it started playing. This video was not only beyond entertaining, it also showed me so many new glitches and tricks i never would've guessed were possible. This is an amazing video and im honestly extremely grateful it exists.

I gotta say this was one of the most complicated thinking i saw, like I felt like i was in class but i was actually understanding what was in class. the 2 player checkpoints blew my mind as i never even thought about that. by all means amazing video

I have so much nostalgia for BBT. It was always a treat to play with others on xbox live back in the day. Maybe not my favorite, that would go to Minecraft, but BBT was always the most chaotic and got us the most laughs
I've managed to do that block deletion on accident by playing with a friend. But that respawn checkpoint system was genious. Good work!!

Okay, I'll start by saying that Battleblock Theatre is one of my favorite games.
There's not much I don't know. With that in mind, this video is extremely well put together.
The editing is fantastic, and explaining complex concepts with little graphics is awesome.
The act 2 scene 2 solution was such a crazy solve, fantastic work
I think I’d actually like to see a stream of this ngl. Watching the nitty gritty of this challenge sounds interesting even if it’s repeating tricks etc

This challenge is insane and I can't believe this is even remotely possible. Also, love the choices of background music. Dangonronpa and Metroid have great soundtracks.
I’ve always loved this game ever since it came out and seeing how two human mind's can bend this game into a masterpiece of ingenuity really makes it shine even years after it’s prime on the 360. It has been way too long since someone’s made a video this beautiful game. ♾️/10 on the video.

22:40 i would guess it is because when you die, the game removes your hitbox, allowing you to move through anything, but you're dead so it doesnt matter. Then, before the game realizes that you're dead and shouldnt be able to hold the block anymore, the explosion launches you up and then the game says "NO, dont do that!", allowing you and the block to move up exactly one space... to be fair i know nothing about battleblock theater and this is pure speculation but yk
yeyeye I think you’re basically right. If I had to guess, I’d say that the order of actions within the frame of death is this: the player is moved up one block (which takes the block with it), a spawner is placed at the player’s position (which spawns the bones and whatnot at the elevated position), and then the player is deleted (which releases the block at the elevated position). The only reason it requires explosions specifically is because that specific death animation moves the player right before they’re deleted.
