    I got a NIB McKinley am/fm off of eBay for $179. It’s great!

    I just brought mine in to the house today, the ssb is far more stable than the Galaxy 959.

    What's a good antenna setup for this radio?

      @@ericbilliter3354 base Antron 99 or A99 as they call it. Or mobile mag mount striker SRA10.
      Or Wilison 500 or 1000. But whatever you choose make sure your swr or standing wave ratio is low 1.1- 1.5.

      @@M6MRP um 😐 I just replied to someone else who asked a similar question as yourself. And the answer is. “Most folk that talk on 27.400 or 27.390 are using Ham HF Radios Modified for 11 meter.” So if that’s what you want you better check the used market, or new and expect to shell out a lot more money than a McKinley goes for.

      Yeah, I didn’t like the second one too much. I feel like they did fm to just say they did it. But the George fcc that was worth it. But the price point is a bit ridiculous. I think it’s 240 us dollars. Yes it’s an excellent radio with some new technology and features. The digital noise reduction system is one of the first features you find n any legal CB radio. So I am very pleased with the overall performance of the President George. Maybe inflation and corporate price increases has gotten us loopy. Or perhaps 🤔 it’s not as bad as we think. If you look back at CB radio prices in the 70’s and 1980’s. They were close if not more expensive. If you lookin my community page I have a link for Radio Shack Catalogs , so you can compare prices from then to now. Where am I going with this thread? Basically for current President models. I would go with the original McKinley and the George FCC. If FM is not for you stick with the McKinley. I’m happy you have one too. Thanks for listening watching and hopefully subscribing. Have a great day. 73.

      CB’s were not cheap by any means back in the day. I’d like to run a McKinley in my truck. But there isn’t a place to conveniently mount it. A buddy of mine would like to get a McKinley II, if President ever does another production run of em.

    You should have gotten a Richard instead for only $10-$20 more! Sideband is for skip only cause nobody drives around on ssb mode and not reliable. Get 50W right from the Get-Go plus Echo! Got Weather on my phone! I've been told that i hide in the basement using a Base Station!😂

      @mikecricket113  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@WEREWOLFUSMC I get what you’re saying. About the Richard. But the Richard doesn’t have SSB.
      On the contrary I do use SSB in the mobile for skip yes and for base to mobile situations when I further away from the person I’m talking to. While Am is 6-12 kilohertz wide. SSB is 3 kilohertz wide and will travel further as you know already. Also I understand that all manufacturers of “export radios” 10&12 meters cb like radios listed as ham radios are really just using the loophole of selling ham like radios to the 11 meter market for profits it’s good for them. I will be getting one of these type radios we are talking about in the future. And yes probably will mod it. For 11. But it will definitely work on 10,11,12 and possibly 15 meters. There are a few models out there that can do all. The main thing is to do and buy what suits the individual. If barefoot isn’t for you then that’s fine. In the end it’s all about what makes “you” happy. 73 and enjoy 😊

      @mikecricket113 i loved talking on SSB when i was younger(reminded me of Star Wars) and made great distance contacts. Been a fan of HAM as well. Been a Truck Driver and had many radios too. I love the easily converted imports so i don't need an amp. Not needed unless you wanna annoy your locals. That's not me. Lastely, a single antenna can only run in the band you most use. CB is mine. It's gonna come in handy when SHTF!👍
