Raised the VHF/UHF antenna to 30feet
Height is might when it comes to line of sight. Antenna was at 15 feet so I doubled the height. So far I’ve had decent audio reports on repeaters I could hardly get into. So I’m happy about that.

C4FM is Yaesu’s digital phone modulation mode. Some repeaters may say “Fusion” and that usually means C4FM digital audio. Some repeaters may have a node room number that you can link up with other repeaters nationwide or around the world. Does that change the power for just that channel or for all channels (the power for the whole radio)? Thanks.
@@stevehorvat69 I think it’s for the particular memory channel. In chirp you can write in what power level you want for the frequency or repeater.

i made 8 contacts set up on the pourch with the 7300 and a battery running a 10m magnet mount on the pickup at 40 watts

@@SamsungGalaxy-ls8ys One would think. Not sure your logic on this. But. For FM on 11 meter Cobra and President both petitioned for use of FM.
@@mikecricket113 Look at the Cobra 19 ultra v or the Cobra 19 mini, the cases appear to be the same even the labels on top.

does this rig handle split tones for repeaters where transmit and receive are on different tones on the offsets
@@PDQpromoPrint yes it does. You can either program that manually or you could use Chirp.

You have a random wire antenna. A 9:1 unun is essential since the feedpoint impedance is typically 450 ohms.

Thanks for your instroduction, I just passed Tech exam 2 weeks ago. I'm planning to get this FT-991A for 2m and 10m band first as well. What kind of antennas you recommend? I don't mind switch back and forth between these 2 bands.
@@JanusHao congratulations 🎈🍾 on passing your first exam. Antennas. Well for 2m and 70cm I use the Tram 1480 it’s been up for five years and no complaints. But if you’re looking for a Triband. With2,6,&70cm. The Diamond V2000A is great for getting on 6 m fm if you have 6 meter repeaters in your area. 10 meter SSB voice from28.300- 28.500 MHz. Well you can’t go wrong with the A99. You might have one already. Check out my community page on my channel here I put links for radios antennas and gear.

I have a President Randy II FCC and am wondering what the big difference from the Jerry is, other than being able to select screen color (?) Both seem like nice CB AM/FM radios.
@@musicman364 it’s about what it comes with software and hardware. No belt clip, no dock charger, no lanyard, no scan skip, no vox , no companding, no microphone clip. No noise gate, no programmable emergency channels , and no color change like you mentioned . So with out these things listed the Jerry cost is $129.00 as compared to the Randy that has those things and cost $165.00. I hope that helps.
after you set up the radio to talk to a tower your 5 watt radio go in at 5 and comes out on A second channel at 60 watts for a 20 mile range
I live in a downtown loft apartment with a steel balcony..and another balcony above me...and a building across the alley (a true concrete canyon), but I have a clear shot of the sky and a direct shot to the east...would this setup work for my situation? does it need a clear shot of the sky? I could mount it to an "L" bracket so its out beyond the front of the balcony by 6-8". I sure would appreciate your advice on this.
@@grafixartz1 I don’t see why not. It may give you a chance to get your signal up and out. But I’m wondering how well you hear signals? Do you run a vertical currently. 95 % of 11 meter operators run vertical polarization. With a horizontal antenna you will have less noise on receive. If the balcony above you is close to your head when your outside than I guess this might help your situation. Do know that if you are talking locally you may have a lower output signal to those using vertical polarization. Horizontal polarization is more for skip. But either way you’re getting on the air. Give it a try. 👍
What does the compander do? Mine is supposed to be coming in this week.
@@mitchh6702 I may have missed spoken apparently, if you long press the monitor button, you will activate or deactivate the switchable reception mode filter. As you can see underneath the monitor button orMON. There is a capital C. I took that for compander. Which is used in FM only to make tx audio sound more consistent and clear. Manual page Six. good idea partner till your better 3/4 busts out the aftermarket panti warmer and your just stuck doing smoke signals! if thats the case then i recommend hard wireing that sucker to the ol flux capasitor! there ya go you happy and mommas happy!

@@Witness4Jesus59 in the video it is the Lil Wilson magnet mount. 36 inches. Me and Timber have been using a pair of them for 11 years now. No complaints for what we use CB for.
You know this is great to grab and go if you’re traveling. I’m glad President Electronics gave us two different styles and solutions to playing CB Radio.
Not only in a life or death situation, but anytime there is an eminent threat to a person or property. That is the wording from the FCC about unlicensed radio use.
