How to Applique with the Button Hole Stitch

  • In this video tutorial I show you how to sew your applique using a button hole stitch with your standard sewing machine.
    This is a great way to applique - the edges are finished with a stitch and you can choose either black thread or a matching to your applique thread. Perfect either way!

    So is this stitch for machines that don't have a blanket stitch setting? Or, why would one prefer the buttonhole stitch, over the blanket stitch on their machine? just wondering....

    I'm a bit confused .. that looks like a blanket stitch. I have the same machine you do, what number stitch did you use?

      Sharon-- it is the same! I believe I use 11 or 12- just depends on how you want your stitches to be and which direction you like the side stitch to go on. 23 would work also, but looks like the straight stitch might be stitched twice because it's thicker. Try a few on a scrap and adjust your settings before you get started. Write it down too if you didn't finish so you know what you are set to! amzn.to/2b44WzF is the sewing machine used in the video- Brother cs-6000i Mine has the extension table as well.
