    Priceless tips from a seasoned fishkeeper. This should hopefully help fishkeepers even if your not just breeding plecos, simple and can easily be modified to suit your needs. I have the same issue with my python, love the flexibility but slow to fill/drain. Hopefully they make a 3/4" to 1" ID hose. I like the option of being able to throttle the water down specially when filling smaller tanks, draining is blank to the walls for me. Thanks for the update,I know this is a late comment but fish happens.

    Very much enjoyed this video. I do water changes similar but i need to go to a larger hose for waste water. My return only does 600 gph. Need to work on that i see. Thank you again.

    Minus the R/O system your manual water change is just like mine I went from 1/2" to 3/4" and it cut like 15 minutes off my time. Now my only problem is my pump is too fast for my faucet....

    You deffinately have given me some great info on making my waterchanging easier! I’ve been hauling buckets to my utility sink in my fishroom, the bright spot is, I have a hose to fill them back up. Eventually I think I will need an ro filter for my apistogrammas and soon I may try wild type mouthbrooding bettas. Thanks tom for all that you do sir💯⭐️

    Those 60 breeders are some killer tanks,great job on the top ones. I thought you were going to put the Leopard Frogs in one of them 60's, but you do need the space for babies makes more sense. ✌🌿

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I had to put the L260's somewhere since I needed their tank for my C. Schultzi 'Black'. I wasn't planning to use two of the new 60B's for grow out tanks, but thats what it's come to for now. Eventually the middle 60B will be a pleco tank. I just ordered the plecos that will eventually occupy that tank (I think). Stay tuned.

    I would love to see your take on a list from hardest to easiest to spawn Corydoras in your opinion. Also how do you feed shy Corydoras?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Many of the lineage 9 corydoras can be rather easy to breed. Some of the longer nosed corydoras in lineage 1 and 8, can be rather challenging. With that said, there is one lineage 7 corydoras in particular that gives even the most experienced Corydoras breeder a hard time, and that is the Corydoras Eques.
      In regards to feeding shy corydoras, like my entire tank of CW009 Green Lasers or my Corydoras Suessi, I just feed them at night when the lights get turn off. My Seussie will come out and feed during the day, but any movement will send the scurrying for cover. I rarely see my adult green lasers except when they spawn. If they are out, I know a party is about to start.

    How do you go about priming the drain hose? Thanks.

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A quick suck on the end of the hose. Not ideal, but it works. Once primed, it stays primed until I'm done with water changes, thanks to the ball valve.

    amazing video do you mind giving me the dimensions for that stand you built ?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Which one? I built them all. If you're talking about the 60B rack, its 52W x 19D x 57H(?) The middle and top shelf are dado cut notched into the vertical 2x6 posts. The bottom tank sits on 2x4's directly on the concrete floor with insulation between the bottom of the tank and the concrete.

    The 60 gallon breeders are SWEET!!! I really like the looks of the top tank with all those pleco caves. I know you've answered this question before but what is that material you're using for the tank tops? Thanks!

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Clear 6mm Twinwall polycarbonate. It's used for greenhouses. I cut to size with a table saw. 4' x 8' sheets can be purchased at Menards for around $75.

    I read on Bentley's channel where you commented that for your new 60 breeders you tried putting Aquaclear 70's on there but they didn't fit over the lip of the tank. Any idea how wide that lip is? I am looking at replacing the Tidals on my 75gal with 2 Aquaclear 70's, for all the reasons in Bentley's video, and am afraid they may not fit over the lip, just like you encountered.

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm trying to find that exact species myself. Last year at Cataclysm someone was selling L183 during the room sales event for $10 ea. My buddy bought 20 of them, and I passed. Now they're impossible to find.

    Would you be ok with running a 75 gallon tank with plecos, or African Cichlids with just sponge filters?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plenty of people do it. Just buy large enough sponge filters, or add extra. ATI Hydro PRO sponge filters work the best. Grab two or three size 5 and you're be fine.

    Awesome video. I’ve been debating upping my fish room to as big as yours and I have a question. How much is your electric bill a month?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Honestly I don't know. My wife manages our money. Apparently it's not high enough to make her say anything. In all seriousness though, the fish room operating costs (electric, water, fish food, incidentals) are under $4,000 annually. Every penny of the fish room is fully funded by the breeding and selling of fish. We actually enjoy a healthy profit from the fish room.

    Hi, I have a question. Is it possible to put a male plico with two females in the aquarium? And is a cave enough or is a cave necessary for every substance?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a M/2F trio is fine. Lots of people do that. The Male will get the cave. Personally, I like to make sure the females also have a cave. A single cave doesn't promote breeding. When the females are ready, they'll find the male.

  • @dennisking7633

    I have been wanting to set up a tank of nothing but different types of plecos. Is that something you would recommend or not?

    • @TMAquatics
      @TMAquatics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Plenty of people do it. It can be tricky though since plecos can have such a varied diets. If I did that, I would focus on species that have similar diets.

      Thanks. I don't spend a lot of time on videos and editing, simply because I do not have the luxury of extra time. I'm sure it shows at times. However, I am trying to bring more value and quality to my videos with B-roll and better footage. I did pick up a new camera rig about 6 months ago. So now I can use a more robust editing tool when stitching a video together. Prior to this, everything previous was shot on my iPad and iPhone, with the basic editing tools of iMovie and Videorama. Needless to say, I now have access to better quality video, images, sound, and editing. Just wish I had more time to make more content.
