- What's up people! In this video, I walk you through step by step process of how to install a Vortech supercharger. This is a V2 Vortech supercharger with a 4-inch inner cooler kit. I've been considering doing a Coyote swap but this project costs a lot less. My concern is that I've been told that supercharging the stock 2V isn't the best idea because the piston construction is considered weak and be be easily broken. Anyway, it has been 3 years since this video so I'm interested in how well your supercharged 2V is doing.
It has been fine for me! The pistons are fine it is the rods that are not very strong in this motors. I am turning up the boost soon so I am going to build the motor. If u run 6-8lbs it is fine on a stock motor

the hole for the oil return fitting was the funnest part of my install,take plenty of time here people so you do not make a mistake that requires you to replace the pan lol

I have the same SC...no Intercooler 400/380......27 mpg on the Highway! The only time I got less than 20 was the 4 days I drove 80 miles round trip to Barber's Motorsport Park (Road Course) and ran 45 minutes wide open each day! @@prestonsarlo Either your tune is rich or you stay in the boost a lot! I have instaledl 9 Vortech's including mine and I have never seen more than a small decrease in gas mileage (UNLESS you stay in the Boost a lot). You need a Boost Gauge , Air/Fuel Gauge, Wide Band O2 sensors, Wideband Commander, 42lb Injectors, a Ford SVT Focus Fuel Pump and a Good Tune (mine was tuned by the owner of BAMA Tuning) it runs 12.50/111 spinning and I have been 171+ at Talladega. I have a Intercooler set up, but never put it on because i didn't want to cut my car up. By the way....good video, I wish 18 years ago there was a vid like that when I installed mine. It took 3 weeks for me to install mine and 5 hours to do the next install for a friend.

What had to be done prior to this? Anything internal on the engine? Did you already have larger fuel injectors? Where did the maf come from?
No internals done. I did the larger injectors when I did this just didn’t show me putting them in. The maf is from VMP
Can you do this on a v6 it’s my first car and im trying to make a lil more sporty so ya it would be awesome if you can let me know.

What air filter did you add? I thought it needed that air intake assembly. 👍
That was just a specture filter but apparently they aren’t any good so I swapped it out with a power pipe and a fender filter

Any idea on where the piping and intercooler are from. CXRacing makes it kit but it doesn't look the same as yours.

Awesome video man! I have a couple questions about what kind of maf sensor your running because I seen it was the slot style and those don’t come like that. I have a v2 vortech non intercooled and my slot style maf is giving me a huge headache! Is there a better way of reaching you?

What tip are you using on that chisel to punch that hole? NGL, taking an air chisel to my oil pan makes me more than a little nervous

Just got the exact same kit, did you install the fuel pump or have someone do it ? What’re you running for gages??
I put in the fuel pump in the video before this one. And for a boost gauge I am running a glow shift one

Saw someone else have a problem getting the unit over the stock belt tensioner. He had to get a different one. Think he was after one with a lower profile and didn't bump into the back of the Vortech. Did you have this problem? Was there a special part number for the tensioner arm? Subscribed.
Appreciate the subscribe! But no I didn’t have any issues with the tensioner. I do believe I have an aftermarket tensioner but I unfortunately do not have a part number!
what other mods did you do to your car to be able to do this, i wanna do it to my 04 but i wanna know how deep the rabbit hole is
U shouldn’t need to do much. Just injectors, fuel pump and a tune and ur good to go

Question where do you tee in your air line for the blow off valve?
I have it going to one of the vacuum lines On the driver side of the motor right near the fuel rail!

Yeah I was actually able to drive it perfectly fine without a tune. Could be different for some people but as long as u stay out of boost it’s fine
Did you have to bend your AC lines that come from the compressor on the block? My mounting bracket doesnt line up because of the return line off of the compressor into the dryer
Yes I carefully bent the lines as well as the bracket attached to them
Did you replace the Fuel injectors and Fuel pump? You were able to drive it with out the tune after install?
Yes. 42lb injectors and a 340lph pump and yes I was able to drive it out of boost without a tune

What's better a supercharger from kenne bell or a vortec supercharger or will they make the same power ?
They are both really good and will make Similar power. The vortech tends to be a little cheaper so that’s why I went that route so it comes down to the price and the sound of the supercharger
When you tap into the oil pan how do you keep junk from falling in there that'll clogged up a lot of things and you cut the bash bar now that you weakened it what do you do for strength and what is that you tapped into for vacuum on the blow-off valve and my question what happens if you do not get a Dyno tune
The air hammer just displaces the material so it shouldn’t go into the pan. I’m not worried about the bash bar because I don’t plan on crashing. And you can tap into the vacuum line from the fuel rail. And you should get a tune for maximum performance
All the intercooled vortech kits I see are air to water, where did you get the air to air?

Depending on how many miles the motor has it might be a good idea to replace the timing chains and tensioners

It is just an oil line. The supercharger pulls and displaces the oil back into the pan.

Got it from autozone I think but everyone said not to run it because it can get sucked into the supercharger so I took it off

I used a hammer drill so it would push the material back because I needed enough material to thread into. And yes it’s a 90 degree fitting

It’s a v8 and yes bigger fuel pump and injectors. I only run 93 now

I dont know if you or anyone has any ideas on this but i installed the kit on my mustang and now im leaking a ton of oil onto the right side headers for some reason
Have you gotten under it to see where it could be coming from? Oil feed line or oil filter
it looks to be coming from the valve cover gasket on the passenger side but it's leaked so much out I can't tell I read there might be too much crankcase pressure so I'm wondering if I hooked something up wrong or if it just gave out

Yo!? How did you put that front mounted intercooler on. The v2 kit on the website looks like the snail faces the passenger fender and not pointing down to the driver side like you have yours? Any insight is appreciated! Thanks man
That’s probably because that isn’t the intercooled version. This intercooled kit isn’t directly from vortech but I’m pretty sure u gave to un bolt the “sail” and turn it so it faces down

Went to a 340lph pump, 42lb injectors everything else is stock
what size oil fittings did you use for the feed the one that goes into the oil filter

Just curious how much different the install is on a 04 mach 1 being my motor is a 4v.
I’d say it would be very similar. I know things are a lot more packed in there because of the shaker but it should be the same idea

Looking at buying a used kit, it has the two pulleys that you have mounted on the supercharger but I don’t see the smooth plastic one. Do you know where I could buy it?
If u look up the installation instructions for whatever supercharger it is they will have a part number for each pulley. That’s exactly what I did
