I learned about tempered glass the wrong way when I was a kid. My dad had a few older restored pinball machines in the basement. While playing when it was common to get a ball stuck. We would slide the glass top off, retrieve the ball, and put it back together. One day I sat the glass down just "right" (WRONG) and the corner touched first. POOF! I was holding nothing! There was tiny pieces of glass EVERYWHERE...... and let me tell you, pinball tempered glass is $$$$$$$$$$$
Awesome video that answered some questions and I appreciated how you recorded the sound at the end so we could hear it continue to crackle. That said, you didn't really cover what tempered glass is other than it is heat treated.
Hi, I am looking for a 36×72 tempered glass, I don't understand it's costing me 490 installed for shower door. It is so expensive is it because the odd size?
I did Commercial Woodworking for over 25 years and on one job I was accidently shipped tempered glass that was about a 64th of a inch to big to fit in a opening and by code it had to be tempered I was told by my boss to try and sand it on site with my belt sander it didn’t work and a new piece was ordered
Probably way too late, but look for laminated glass, that's that's used in windshields, or else you can use polycarbonate, but scratching and hazing could be an issue long term.
The differences of annealed glass vs. tempered glass aside, you ran the score way too hard and then to state, "Well, that didn't work.", is a little silly because, no glass just jumps apart after you simply score it. You have to run the score with a running pliers. Just sayin'.....
Yup, he didn’t even try to run the score. And the way he just hit it in the middle like that 🤦♂️. Of course we know it’s going to shatter, but he doesn’t seem like he knows how to even properly cut annealed
Interesting video, terrible title. This taught me almost nothing about what tempered glass actually is. Stated and tested several /attributes/ of tempered glass, but that's not what the title would lead one to believe this video is about.
So umm 🤔 yeah. Delete this video, give more info and make it good. You saying “well that didn’t work...” yeah thats a sign you need to do a take two and learn from take one.

Mythbusters had a great episode testing the results of being thrown through plate, tempered, and safety glass... was a pretty cool episode!!
Have to check that one out!

So what would be best for a combine cab? They’re known to break randomly.
