Fun Fact: Honolulu City Lights was written and recorded by Keola and Kapono Beamer and released in 1978. It topped the charts in Hawaii. Karen Carpenter did a fantastic job (as did Emma Gilmour), but if you wanted to hear the original (with acoustic guitars using slack key tuning), it can be found on TH-cam. Aloha!

Hello Emma. Things have been busy and demanding this past week. It’s all good, just busier than I’d like.
Tonight, I am rested and feeling good. And it’s time for my Emma fix. This is the first time I’ve heard you do your rendition of this song by Karen Carpenter.
I remember how sad and lost I felt when we lost our beloved Karen. An iconic musical treasure was gone forever. OR SO I THOUGHT. God in His mercy has chosen you to bless us through your commitment to perfection. I must say that every song you perform is a special journey (a Magical Mystery Tour as the Beatles sang). And I’m sure that Karen Carpenter is more than delighted that her legacy is not lost at all because you are allowing us to relive those golden moments we hold so dear. Your arrangements and performances are just so damn good. I actually think your voice is sweeter than Karen’s, and hers was the best ever. Emma, I very much appreciate the dedication and hard work you put into your music to put contented smiles in our hearts. Blessings to you dear Emma.
P.S: I took the time to listen once again to Karen Carpenter sing “Honolulu City Lights”. And oh my, sooo nice. And then I listened to your rendition again (actually the sixth time I’ve listened to you sing it tonight) and I can honestly say, that in my humble opinion, yours is better. And I appreciate that you sang “bring me back again” the third time during the transitional ending.
😎 the last time i played this was before a friends funeral and it went well emma but i got wrecked seem to be doing that a lot these days but i say just find a way of copeing as long as you police yourself have a great saturday like a furnace here cant stand the cold in the morning xx 🎄⛄⛄🎅💙👍
