This report was aired as part of a January 1979 special from ABC News. 'China and America: New Beginning.' The anchor for the broadcast was Frank Reynolds. Note that China in 1978 had barely changed from the Cultural Revolution days and the death of Mao two years earlier. Note the extraordinary poverty and the unbelievable change - 1978-2013.
