Personally when it comes to hunting games, I find that Charity shops often have a lot of decent stuff. I've come across some really good finds in my time hunting at them, most of my 400 odd games have come from them
I can’t blame the CEX staff for being taken in by fake products to be fair as some look pretty decent, but to have one sat on the shelf at an inflated price ain’t cool. I’m glad you were able to come home with some stuff and the whole trip wasn’t a complete bust. Take it easy.

13:10 I traded that sword of the Berserk to that CEX a week before hand. Was looking at the Kirby game as well, I guessed it was fake based on how well the box looked.
That Pro Evo talk of the survival of the fittest hit me in the feels man, tried to relive those days but it will never be the same as it was back in the day. Special times man!
I had a counterfeit experience with CEX several times with an A grade Apple Watch Stainless Steel Link Bracelet Strap. I order this item 4 times online, first one I received was genuine but the clasp was warped and had missing links. However, the next 3 attempts I was sent were fakes! I gave up in the end. But the most disappointing thing I noticed was when I went back into the store to return one of the fake straps, I noticed in the window they were trying to sell one of the fakes I had returned as a genuine strap for full A grade price!
I can relate to the Kirby mishap… I went into my local store yesterday and found NFS Most Wanted Black Edition on PS2; one of my favourite games of all time… get to the checkout and ask if they have the bonus disc as I noticed the swing holder was missing and the girl told me they didn’t have it. I also asked if theyd sell it at standard price as a result, because you’re not getting the bonus content, and she told me she didn’t make the prices and shrugged at me. They shouldn’t charge a premium for something if the bonus content is missing!
I remember when game stores like Gamestation, Game and CeX had people working there who were genuinely passionate about games. Now, the workforce at these stores (minus Gamestation because it’s gone), are mainly dossers who are just there to get through the shift as easily as possible.

First video of yours that I've seen and I'm pleased to see you're fairly local to me, I'm in Stoke! I love a good CEX hunt, it's like a UK version of LGR Thrifts. I'll keep an eye out for PS3 Essentials at the Hanley and Newcastle under Lyme store for you.
I assume somewhere, somehow you catalog your games, be interested to know what app, etc you use assuming you do. My collection is small relatively (360) and I forget what I have / don't have on occasion.

I also had a terrible experience with CEX selling fakes - ordered some Skyward Sword Joy Cons that turned out to be fakes, clearly bought from AliExpress or something, then sold as legit. Paid 40 something for each one, only to be sorely disappointed when they arrived. It was clear even from just holding them they were fakes, but the dead giveaways were the HD rumble wasn't right, the printing of the Nintendo logo was wrong, the inability to update them and the zero Amiibo support. CEX really needs to have a dedicated training process for staff to inform them to do proper checks on whether or not things are legit or fake. Nicely done for calling them out, if everyone does the same, hopefully some day we will have eliminated all fakes / repros from the CEX chains.

Went to Ireland on a vacation and never before visited CeX in dublin. Honestly had a decent experience, got Gamecube Resident Evils for 20 bucks less than in my home country of Finland.

CEX near me has been caught selling games with reproduction sleeves and even labels on some of the games. Usually they mark them that its reproduction buts theres a bunch which have made it through.

Fairplay to the guy for being honest about kirby when you asked, but thats a bad business practice to just try resell it 😢 well done for calling it out again 👍
I used to work at the Burton on Trent store. Since the new franchise came in aroudn October 2018, the staff turnover has been extreme. I even had a falling out with the area manager after he tried to scam a customer out of their warranty on an £800+ phone. Terrible culture there Edit: There was also a HMV around the corner, and they had a regular thief who would steal boxsets etc and come to our CEX store to sell it. Under order of the boss, ask no questions and buy it in. Can't comment on how the store is now or if they have new owners, but 2018-2019 it was essentially operating illegally.

Around the Amsterdam area in Holland, we don't have the retro stuff at our CEX's. Still hoping that will come. CEX helped me starting collecting about 8 years ago. I first bought all the cheap 1,- /1,50 stuff, even the printed covers for ALL consoles on a weekly round to the stores. I still do, but now bundle it to make a little profit to buy the more expensive stuff. I skipped collection for the PS4, but now since I have a PS5, the 4 & 5 is my main collection focus and sometimes pickup a cheap game for the PS1, 2 & 3 collection. WINNING IS ESSENTIAL Btw, funny thing I like to do at CEX NL. I got my UK Membercard and my Dutch card. I like to have some fun and give a new employee my UK card and so when it doesn't work they start to freak out a bit, also because I given them 40 games to find, box and scan. and now think its the computer fault and switch registers to scan it all over again. Then i 'find' my Dutch card. The older employees know me and are in on the joke. Like a first big test on the job.

Cex in Sutton Coldfield is prone for there high prices. my guess the town center is charging a lot of rent on the premises as most shops there are shut or shutting down.

I usually use the CEX app to look ahead for stock on store but think they won't differentiate between essentials and non essentials unfortunately. Have you visited the Cex in Leicester, Gallowtree? Haven't been in a while but the store is huge compared to other CEXs. There is also the retro gamer shack just around the back. They have some decent stuff also. WINNING IS ESSENTIAL.

When I use to work for GAME I remember that we kept ps3 essentials for backups to replace disks then throw the cover away. 🤣

I assume somewhere, somehow you catalog your games, be interested to know what app, etc you use assuming you do. My collection is small relatively (360) and I forget what I have / don't have on occasion.

Manual from CEX yes.... but rare games priced accordingly / cheap.... ill happily have a deal if I can get one

I also had a terrible experience with CEX selling fakes - ordered some Skyward Sword Joy Cons that turned out to be fakes, clearly bought from AliExpress or something, then sold as legit. Paid 40 something for each one, only to be sorely disappointed when they arrived. It was clear even from just holding them they were fakes, but the dead giveaways were the HD rumble wasn't right, the printing of the Nintendo logo was wrong, the inability to update them and the zero Amiibo support. CEX really needs to have a dedicated training process for staff to inform them to do proper checks on whether or not things are legit or fake. Nicely done for calling them out, if everyone does the same, hopefully some day we will have eliminated all fakes / repros from the CEX chains.

Your videos have started dropping at the perfect times for me hitting the gym after work so thank you for making my bike sessions more fun 😂 only found the channel at the start of the year but enjoying going back through the hunts it's revived my love of physical games and started me on collecting games I'd previously traded when I was a teen and had to do so to get newer consoles and games. Just got the dark souls 2 black armour edition off ebay for a decent price after seeing it in one of your videos and getting hit with the need to add it to my steelbook collection

Went to Ireland on a vacation and never before visited CeX in dublin. Honestly had a decent experience, got Gamecube Resident Evils for 20 bucks less than in my home country of Finland.

CEX near me has been caught selling games with reproduction sleeves and even labels on some of the games. Usually they mark them that its reproduction buts theres a bunch which have made it through.

I used to work at the Burton on Trent store. Since the new franchise came in aroudn October 2018, the staff turnover has been extreme. I even had a falling out with the area manager after he tried to scam a customer out of their warranty on an £800+ phone. Terrible culture there
Edit: There was also a HMV around the corner, and they had a regular thief who would steal boxsets etc and come to our CEX store to sell it. Under order of the boss, ask no questions and buy it in. Can't comment on how the store is now or if they have new owners, but 2018-2019 it was essentially operating illegally.

Great video, can't believe that Kirby is still there! An old nemesis I wouldn't have thought would return to the show 😅 I've seen it a few times unfortunately and it definitely affects my trust when buying so I inspect everything when buying in person.

Around the Amsterdam area in Holland, we don't have the retro stuff at our CEX's. Still hoping that will come. CEX helped me starting collecting about 8 years ago. I first bought all the cheap 1,- /1,50 stuff, even the printed covers for ALL consoles on a weekly round to the stores. I still do, but now bundle it to make a little profit to buy the more expensive stuff. I skipped collection for the PS4, but now since I have a PS5, the 4 & 5 is my main collection focus and sometimes pickup a cheap game for the PS1, 2 & 3 collection.

Btw, funny thing I like to do at CEX NL. I got my UK Membercard and my Dutch card. I like to have some fun and give a new employee my UK card and so when it doesn't work they start to freak out a bit, also because I given them 40 games to find, box and scan. and now think its the computer fault and switch registers to scan it all over again. Then i 'find' my Dutch card. The older employees know me and are in on the joke. Like a first big test on the job.

Cex in Sutton Coldfield is prone for there high prices. my guess the town center is charging a lot of rent on the premises as most shops there are shut or shutting down.

I usually use the CEX app to look ahead for stock on store but think they won't differentiate between essentials and non essentials unfortunately. Have you visited the Cex in Leicester, Gallowtree? Haven't been in a while but the store is huge compared to other CEXs. There is also the retro gamer shack just around the back. They have some decent stuff also. WINNING IS ESSENTIAL.
