The Doors. The very best American band !! 55 years later , and still incredible !! R I P Jim and Ray.
I tend to agree, I'm of that generation. The Doors and The Band are my 2 favorite groups from back then. Both had 2 very good looking front men, Jim and Robbie Robertson.
What a voice, from smooth to feral. What a look. Handsome guy, riveting front man. Long live the doors.
Jim’s dad didn’t even know Jim could sing and was famous until he seen him on tv. Crazy Story
Wow! Didn't know that.
Yeah It's true..part of the legend of Morrison ❤
Jim Morrison had it all, the looks, vocals, edge and just the COOL 😎 factor.
Absolutely!
and the acid
@@WESSERPARAQUAT 🤣😉
Sex on a stick
He was cooler than the other side of your pillow and he wasn’t even trying! 😎. Not to mention that primal scream 💪
When I hear the words "rock star" his face comes to mind.
I realize this is an older video but nobody mentioned in the comments the trouble the Doors got into from Ed Sullivan for Morrison singing "Girl we couldn't get much higher"?? Sole reason they never appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show again.
Yes! 😁
I think Jim said they didn't really care if they appeared again. Been there done that. Too cool.
@@ExpatBear-58 Yes when someone from Ed Sullivan show told them they would not be invited back Jim famously said "We just did the Ed Sullivan show".
This was the biggest brightest talent in the 60's you cannot deny how superb this was.. c'mon
Whenever I think of The Doors, this is the first song that comes to mind. And as I get older, I appreciate this group more and more.
"Wow. Just Wow. I'm blown away for real." very true.
Contrast this with Mick Jagger caving into Ed Sullivan's demand that The Rolling Stones change the lyric to "Let's Spend Some Time Together." MJ just rolled his eyes while singing it.
Well Ray Manzeric also played bass with his left hand on that bass master ,and organ with his right hand...and song for Jim...when he didn't make it on stage!....he was a one man band...solid!!
Absolutely!!
I agree with you 100%. Top 10 group of all time with the most recognizable sound of anyone. Jim Morrison.....great looks, dreamy voice, sexual charisma, dark and mysterious, sensual power. The ultimate front man.
Absolutely!!
Top 5
I so much agree with you, one of the best bands ever ❤️
Its refreshing to find such a nice young respectful gentleman as yourself. Yes an iconic singer, group and song! Fortunate to have grown up in the 60s to hear such great music. I and many many others awaited for the next song to be released.Big fan of theirs but my favorite group was CCR till now. Best of success on yr channel
Thank you very much!!
I still remember watching this the night it first broadcast; I was 4 years old. It was a huge event at that time.
To echo another comment, im only a 47 year old who fell in love with the doors in 1991 as a 15 year old, but wow, its so cool to see great music still affecting young people , especially musicians (of which i am one), because current musicians’ influences, & inspirations, or at least the music they respect, is what ends up getting woven into the tapestry of new music...something like that. Anyway, awesome to see; Im happy to be liked & subbed.
😊🙏
Glad you were aware of the full version.. a sonic masterpiece.. this is a mere snippit of that
greats reacctions bro ssludls from Argentina
Next up for fun,Touch Me!,and next rainy evening got to listen to Riders On The Storm, for a strange vibe...⚡☔💧🎙
Riders On The Storm is great listened to in the dark after a bong rip or two. Follow up with The End - can’t beat it! 😅
Wow. John that's was brilliant love it ♥️ 👍 great song ❤️ great performance 👌 🎶 🎶 really enjoyed this, 👍, 🎶🎶🎶🎸🎤🎧thanks John 👍 awesome much ♥️ godbless from barb 👍 uk 🏴 ❤️ 🎸 🎤 🙏 fantastic the doors, 👍
Thanks a lot Barb 🙏❤️☺️
Did you notice Ray Manzarek yelling C'mon near the end?
Es la perfección Total
Well, lets see... Totally agree w/you, one of the greatest bands ever & differing from the other bands in so many ways. They were offering something more than just a plain performance. Some guys presenting on their concerts say it was far more & different than just a regular show, people leaving the hall were feeling changed, looked thoughtful, many people say this experience changed their lives forever. The more I read about The Doors the more convinced I become Morrison was indeed some kind of shaman, you know. It looks ridiculous when I write about it I just feel this way.
And of course all 4 of them were/are amasing musicians, some more obvious, some more obscured. And all four of them prfectly fit the purpose.
Uh, forgot to mention, this short version of Light My Fire was cut for the AM radio stations, which those days were playing songs not longer than 3.5-4 minutes, for completely commercial reasons.
Great comment! I totally agree with you!
@@johngibsonmusic I apreciate that & also I'm glad you think the same! 👍😀
This was awesome! Man I would love to have seen these guys live. Thanks for posting!
✌🏻❤️✌🏻
Love it and the story behind it
This was on the Ed Sullivan show. They got banned from ever appearing on the show again because they were suppose the change "get much higher" to something bland. Jim refused & went ahead keeping the original words.❤ 😂
Hopefully you know the Ed sullivan story behind this? the doors was asked to eliminate the word "higher" with "better" ...they agreed and Jim tottally dismissed it when they came out (you can the smirk on Robby Kriegers face when he first sings it)...Sullivan was irate and they were banned from the show for good ... the doors didnt care ..they moved on to hipper shows!
Love your Doors knowledge there JG. Great words to describe this cool band 🤴🏻⚡️🎼
Thanks a lot Paul! 😊🙏
@Jonh Gibs...🦋😘🦋Parabéns pelo maravilhoso e lindo vídeo Perfeito ameeei!
Thank You so much
Bjs!🦋❤🦋😘👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Obrigado Elenice! ❤️🙏😊
He was told not to say get higher..but he did..and was banned from this show
You can't tell how High he was?!
If Jim Morrison was not the best front man ever who was? The Doors hated the cut and it was two solos, Ray had one as did Robby. Jim felt he owed more to his fans as the Doors were a band. They split all the money 4 ways.
Great reaction 👍
Thanks so much 😊
Yes.
Jim Morrison.
All time best.
Forever.
Only one coming close not in sound but by originality it
Comes Greta van
Jim Morrinson👋👋👋👋👋👋
Sim!! 🙏❤️
The Doors
Hey John, I recently did a parody/cover of this song and I used about 15 consecutive seconds of this Doors video from the Ed Sullivan show, and their lawyers ordered a takedown and I got a strike. My video had 1.2 million views so it sucks that they took it down. It wasn't allowed to be monetized because I used the footage, but it was allowed up by TH-cam--until the Ed Sullivan Show Archive company ordered the takedown. Have you experienced any of these problems? May I ask if your video is being monetized or not? I'm trying to learn how to avoid getting strikes in the future. Thanks for reading my comment! -Brian
No one touches Morrison
🙏
The lizard king himself the great Jim Morrison and the door
I am the lizard king!
This is the single version.
You know what? You really look like him. I’m sure you’ve heard that before.
Nobody like the doors. Jim was so original and very sensitive. Being a rock star isn't always that great.
