Waiting when Jim Morrison sings Alive with Pearl Jam
Jajaja ¿y tenías que poner alive? Jajajaja xD
That’s cold man 😂
Amen
Well played
That sounds actually cool can't wait
I love how Eddie just steps back and lets Robby and Ray have their spotlight.
Eddie? Had the spotlight to begin with. The musicians in this group had the talent not jim
Gotta give the old guard their due....
guy is a legend
Eddie is just 1 class act & person!
@@TheRacboys then you dont understand jim his voice capabilities
Woahh I hear a glimpse of Jim’s voice in 7:45 - 7:50. It’s just amazing👏
absolutely I was like 🤯
Jim sang it live differently many times, this fits right into Jim's voice except Eddie Vedder closes down the lyrics to a slight degree. He does it far more in other songs, listen to Last Kiss as an example. Think Eddie is trying to sound like Jim and he does do a great job. I think if you slipped this in with a lot of live performances only someone very familiar with Eddie Vedder may notice.
Yeah, I felt my skin crawl right at that moment. Jeeez!
the best brother
Respect to Eddy to cover this epic song. There are not many who would even try it in public.
it's not that hard. I am told I sound a lot like Morrison. Jim is baritone with not a lot of range. He is unusual, the rock and roll crooner
@@tylerpace6517 maybe it's not hard for you, but otherwise nobody managed to cover JDM for more than 50 years or came even close.
I was a little girl when I saw The Doors on Ed Sullivan...this is amazing musicianship here! Eddie is perfect for this...
@@markborz7000
Eddie veddee
Scott stipe
Guy from STP
All were rather good covering doors
The guy from the cult in the song
wild flower
Inxs singer would have been interesting
You can find them singing doors on TH-cam
@@tylerpace6517 it’s not about being easy or hard to sing if u know what I mean
He is Manzarek,
He can play with a calculator, if He wants.
Matias Pascual still be funky
fuck yeah
Be honest. The tone is TERRIBLE. That's absolutely no knock to Ray Manzarek. The organ sound isn't even imitating the right kind of organ. Ray played on a Vox Continental or Gibson G-101 which were transistor organs. This sound is a (very) poor imitation of a Hammond organ which sounded NOTHING like a transistor organ. Ray used Hammonds on a few tracks as well, but this was not one of them, and he never used one live.
@@UMAMIMAMU I agree 100%. As my friend said to me when we were talking about it, it's like he is using the "Doors" setting on a cheap Yamaha.
Give that legend the vox!
All those jokes about the synthesizer sound... Their choice wasn't bad at all. It actually works. Of course, once you hear the cheap Yamaha in there, you cannot unhear it.
what a guitar solo
yep!!!!
I'm hearing it.!
Respect to Krieger,very good musician
Y'all realize Robby wrote this song?
Very cool too that he plays a quote from My Favorite Things, because the solo section vamp on the recording was inspired by saxophone immortal John Coltrane's recordings of My Favorite Things.
Robbie Krieger's solo is incredible. I love how he integrates a few bars of My Favorite Things into it. Jazz musicians will sometime quote part of a melody of another song in their improvisation. I think it shows real creativity.
What a genius playing!
Good catch, Cruis! And yes, Robbie's solo here is sensational!
Yep! He’s an underrated guitarist no doubt
This performance of "Light My Fire" is still fire in 2021! 🔥
fukin a and im not even a pearl jam fan
2022 here, still rocking
And will be as Long as Rock and Roll lives .These songs and bands are way better then today's music
2022!
@@israelarguello9770 . Hey hey, my my, rock & roll can never die!
John Densmore said that the only vocalist who could replace Jim would be Eddie Vedder. from seeing this performance I think he was right. Amazing.
Scott Stapp did I think better...
But if not yes...Eddie did great
I think the same Eddie did an amazing job🔥 Wish he does more doors songs, cuz his voice really has that Morrison vibe!
07:08 Ray approves
@@ozkrhills9624 Scott did a great job too but Eddie really nailed, without a doubt
Vedder is good but check out Scott Weiland singing with them. Has more of a raspy Morrison sound.
They found the right singer. Love Jim Morrison. Love Eddie Vedder.
MarcelaE my first listen with Eddie singing. Pretty good. Jim would be ok with it I think. Just that sound makes me feel good.
He was the perfect choice
But Ian Astbury was more fitting in the end.
Val Kilmer.
He sang all the live songs in "the doors" by Oliver Stone.
But I also like Eddie.
The keyboardsound is terrible, sounds nothing like the 60th original.
Ian Astbury
Krieger's solo. Fantastic playing!
That iconic tone takes you exactly where you need to be.
Heaven!
I loved the "Favorite Things" riff by Robby. Made my day
@@keevanlee215 Such an amazing part of that solo.
The Doors are actually more interesting once you try to play them.. never cared much about the band but I prefer this live version to any studio thing..
@@keevanlee215 Yeah, he does that "favorite things" part in the Robby Krieger Organization live CD also. Tone is killer.
I can hear Jim into that last raspy "FAYOOOO" 7:46
ahh same same 🤩🤩
HELL YEAH i just think that too
You know Ray probably had a stock pile of great vintage keyboards; Wurlitzer's, Rhodes, Hammond's, you name it, yet he decided to go with what sounds like a $50 yamaha from sears!
EXACTLY!!! sounds like a toy.....
At least the guitar of Robby Krieger still sounds awesome. And Eddie Vedder was a great choice by the band to be the singer!
i hear you bro
Agreed. It royally fucked up the song. Thanks Ray.
never mind, robby krieger still got it
Class Act Eddie Vedder! always stand back on stage when performing as guest.
Eddie Vedder is a class act who has a GREAT VOICE too. Humble and excellent!
BS - he should have stood so far back he could not be heard - terribly lame performance and lousy tribute to Jim. He should be humble even attempting this.
Jim M. could barely perform when not drugged out of his mind. Vedder did a BETTER job than JM ever did. BUT, opinions are like assholes, we all got 'em and some are assholes!!
"then Jim ever did?" Are you fucked up or something?
Cj Winger ummm haha ur a funny kid. Have you seen or ever heard one of Jims performances live. His scream and his voice is one of a kind you can't compare that to anyone and this is a Pearl Jam fan speaking
For 8 minutes, it's 1969 again ☮️ Thanks Eddie
I'm a 70-year-old female, and still adore the Doors! I grew up with awesome music...
I liked that, I've seen a lot of doors covers by big names, and Vedder is not trying too much to immitate morrison, or making it a grunge thing, he's being himself
buckingham412 I
A grunge thing? Lol
He always does great covers.
Keyboards a joke
@@kimberlyhardin8034 what?
Totally worth it for Robby Krieger's solo. Dig the homage to Coltrane with the "My favorite things" quote. Vedder fits in.
I've seen Krieger the last 3 years live (including a show with Manzarek shortly before he passed). Krieger loves playing this song. He always plays the "Favorite Things" tease and usually "Eleanor Rigby" tease too around the same section. Look at my videos that I posted. I posted the ones I saw from the last 2 years. I think he actually sounds far better now than he did in this video from 23 years ago.
These are a few of my favorite things. LOL
Rob Bader what’s up with that Xmas bit. “These are my favorite things”
@@jsinitials1488 ABSOLUTELY MINE TOO👍👌✌🎶🎵👏
I love Eddie Vedder as well, however that took guts to cover Jim Morrison on this song. Tremendous talent all the way around.Guitar solo needs to be mentioned. Magnificent.
The Doors and Pearl Jam are two of my favourite bands and seeing Eddie Vedder perform with Ray,Robby and John is just awesome!
I LOVED Robbie Krieger's guitar solo!
Guitar is singing!
Listen closely he throws in a bit of " These are a few of my favorite things".
I can imagine how amazing this must be for him at that moment in time for Eddie since The Doors is one of his favorite bands..you were fantastic Eddie!!!
I like how Robby puts ' These are a few of my favorite things' in his solo.
I was introduced to the Doors via 'top 40' AM radio playing this song in heavy rotation that summer when I was 11 years old. Eddie did a great job channeling Jim on this performance. So many memories of long ago!
07:44 this moment is epic, because the scream of eddi is similar at jim morrison, it's really amazing ...
... and then right after the Morrison "Fire!" peak point , comes back the atari toy keyboard ... :D
Eddie looks extremely happy during this performance. Which is rare from his pissed off era.
That's not his pissed off era yet.
it kinda is...just watch him at award shows in 93
He's rich by now
He’s playing with The Doors, he can’t be pissed
Can we imagine how many times he prolly sang to the album in his room as a kid wishing he was Jim? Now he gets his dream come true.
Eddie originally declined the invitation to sing with the Doors. Thank god he changed his mind. I had chills.
Robby, Ray and Densmore. Great musicians. RIP Jim and Ray
A master instrumentalist can turn a low quality device into a piece of work. Great keyboardist.
+Javier Gonzalez y el Robbyn master of master
Javier Mgtaoism i
disagree. I love the guy, but that keyboard solo is pretty hamfisted, off key and off rhythm. Robbie K is the player!
Mike Powell no it’s ray manzerak
Mike Powell Once you free your mind about a concept of
Harmony and of music being correct
You can do whatever you want
2:39 can we just appreciate Eddie shaking his hair around like that
Ruby Lea : That was such a sweet thing to say. So much like what Jim would do.
so fluffy
Totally Appreciated
No
@Tom Upton It will happen to all of us. Time marches on hair follicles dont.
Honestly, I did not expect such an amazing performance. Love it.
I love this. I was SHOCKED that Eddie had the great honor to take Jim Morrison's place. Don't you know he was in awe of it all. And he really is the only singer who could begin to light a fire to Jim!! Eddie Vedder-you need a FABULOUS job. I love you man
It was real nice of Radio Shack to let him borrow that sweet keyboard.
Gary Johnson edgy
Actually laughed out loud. Well done.
tempo too fast
It's a Roland D50, i highly doubt you'd find that in radio shack.
@@jamdonut7692 The point is it sounds like crap.
Eddie is wearing kurts smells like teen spirit shirt
But, tucked in...must be a Catholic school kid. ; )
Nah It looks more like Zack De La Rocha's shirt from the Pinkpop fest in 1993
okay!
Yup! Haha!
Thanks for sharing this idea. Eddie is a really nice person. He always remembers Kurt.😀😢👍🎸☺
7:45 that scream it's perfect

I heard Jim at the end. I love Jim and Eddie so much. Incredible.
I cannot get over how young Eddie Vedder looks....
Robby Krieger is an Eric Clapton level legend on the guitar.
Vedder truly has that "electric baritone" voice that Jim had. He sounds uncannily similar in some of the instances in this performance.
Concuerdo
Everyone got in the groove to do this performance. Eddie can sing. Robbie phenomenal as usual. They lit my fire😊
90s Eddie is * Chef kiss *
I can't believe I just see this. The Doors and Eddie always such a prodigy.
eddie's voice fits this song so much better than i expected
Goosebumps. This simple songs is actually hard to sing. Few singers try. Eddie did it.
Amo Eddie Vedder cantando The Doors!
Eddie Vedder did a fantastic job singing with the Doors, I am a big fan of The Doors and Jim Morrison, had all their albums. I know theirs Eddie Vedder haters out there, I think it's because he's still alive and still Rock & A Rolling with Pearl Jam and solo career and with other wonderful musicians, can't denied what a freakin cool life and career he's had!! Yeaaaaaa Eddie Vedder ❤️🤘
I love your comment. Eddie is one of the most talented men on the planet. I've always thought he was like Jim in some ways. Voice, songwriting very poetic, his own person with passionate ideas and both are gorgeous with similar hair and body type. Both LOVE the beach, etc, etc. Thank you for reading I am just rambling. Love seeing Eddie with the remaining DOORS, It was special.🎼🎸🎤🌈❤

Lol, agree
In heaven I want to be a doors groupie ❤️

The most talented, versatile and humble vocalist on earth - Eddie. What a beautiful soul.
My favorite rock band, The Doors!!! And one of my favorite singers of grunge rock Eddie Vedder. This is Epic!!!!
As far I can see this is their best performance since Jim is gone.
Amazing.
Watch the Doors with Scott Weiland. Way better energy.
@@joshua.snyder yes, for the keyboard part
The song still gives me chills in 2021.The musicianship & solos of Manzarek & Krieger, the back beat of Densmore. Eddie Vedder fit in perfectly.
Honestly, Densmore has got to be the coolest drummer of all. The guy is so original.
bro he was such a badass drummer like he so slept on
It's lovely how the bass is so good and consistent that it allows him to be his unique self whilst the music never loses structure and composure
What a delicious nugget of music to stumble across! Two of my favorite generations of musicians rolled up in one.
At the end when Eddie is smiling is a beautiful thing
You can tell how much Eddie appreciated and enjoyed their muisc!
Eddie always appreciates playing with the masters
Dude what a guitar solo. He's so underrated.
Despite the sound of the key board, Ray was amazing on that.
+A Study in Floyd Ray could make even a K mart keyboard sound great hahaha.
It is Ray though! He introduces himself at the end.
+A Study in Floyd Playing was good, but the sound was like a calliope almost. Not anywhere close to the original sound. Sorry, but I think it sounded cheap, and not just because the vocalist couldn't pull it off completely; I know they're hard shoes to fill, but he at least does a 5/8 decent job filling Jim Morrison's shoes.
+A Study in Floyd I don't know. He doesn't seem to quite nail the head the first time through.
I agree
I love Eddie's vocal. HIs voice is so different. But I saw the Doors in 1968. The band and performance were unforgetable. And Jim, well there was just one Jim Morrison and he broke all of the rules and that was what was so awesome about him. Saw them perform this song.
Louise, I truly envy you. You got to see one of my favorite bands, The Doors.
I was introduced to them in 1994 when I was 14 going on 15 from a guy in my class who had an older brother and HE was introduced to The Doors by his father. I am in awe of Ray Manzarek who played the keyboard and doubled as the bass player too.
You were very lucky to have seen them live. I'd love to know what Jim Morrison was like live on stage.
You should upload a video about your experience. Not many people these days could say they saw jim Morrison and you would have been a young gal at the time too seeing all the groupies going crazy! LoL! = )
All the best, Louise.
Amazing!!
Oh you are so lucky. The Doors is my favorite band. I was born a few years after Jim Morrison's death, but me and my mom just love the Doors. I wish I was a live at that time to see them. Hats off to you, you lucky gal!
"I love Ray's keyboard sound. It's so different"
Different does not equal good.
Ow I love the doors how luck you are oh god,The Doors are legends, period!!!
Love Eddie’s eye roll!
Love how the guitarist always plays a snippet from a classic song on his solo!
Woah wasn't expecting young eddie
+PCMasterRace "The Doors and Eddie Vedder perform "Light My Fire" at the 1993 Hall of Fame Inductions."
Still say he’s the best vocalist to come from that generation
To be honest Christ Cornell is the real monster, and after him by sure mr.Eddie Vedder.
Any way my favourite band is by far Pearl Jam, and Sound Garden is maybe among my 20 others favourites hahaha.

How surreal must’ve been for Eddie to sing with the doors wow
7:18 the shaman spirit enter in Eddie Vedder
The Doors (their first album) is one of the best debut releases of all time. Ray's keyboard does sound a bit goofy here but this is nostalgia, not cutting edge 1967 music.
+OroborusFMA Its up there with Pearl Jam's Ten, Led Zeppelin, Boston, Black Sabbath and other amazing debut albums.
Not to mention the incredible feat that Strange Days came out in the same year
Damn, Eddie nails this iconic song! Ray M. and the boys still have it, seemingly not losing a step. Wonderful guitar solo. Great job!
Heroic performance by Eddie. The guys still had their great chops here. RIP Jim and Ray....

I've always wondered what a Michael Hutchence of INXS cover of a Doors song would have been like. Never thought of Eddie, but he's awesome AS ALWAYS.
Eddie could sing a phone book (an old time book issued B4 cell phones 4 you younger fans) and it would be a classic.

@@kingryanidas17 LOL good chuckle on your reply!
Boy, that made my day!
Holy shit that was Jim screaming 7:45. Amazing performance John, Ray, Robbie and Eddie!
I miss Jim Morrison so much. He should've been the one here singing this song but on the other hand, Eddie is my favourite grunge singer ever and the way he's a perfect replacement and so humble to take a step back to let them shine makes my heart warm :')
Soy Fanático de The Doors , me encantó como la canto Eddie Vedder
Eddie has a baritone voice. Jim had a baritone voice too. Perfect.
Exactly
As a longtime musician myself who was raised on The Doors since early childhood (when Jim Morrison was actively still alive) with this particular song being part of the inspiration for me to become a keyboard player....let me jump in with other commentators that I NEVER EVER thought I'd hear this legendary iconic song that was responsible for psychedelic Rock in 1967 be played on the cheapest sounding child's toy of a keyboard reminiscent of watching CHARLIE BROWN!!lol Did all their instruments get lost or stolen?!lol This literally hurts my ears hearing "Light my Fire" played on a tinker toy. This would have even sounded 100x better on an antique 1700's era harpsichord!lol I can't believe I heard this!
I guess Ray's keyboard didn't arrive in time. Luckily, there must have been a Toys R Us nearby.
thespotlightkid lmfao
Right. Sounds like the beginning of a new Mario world level.
did Ray ever play a Hammond with the Doors? He usually used a Vox Continental and a Fender Rhodes piano bass...
What have you done? The answer is probably not much. You are a keyboard warrior and not the kind that Ray was
he is also standing!
7:10 eddie nailed it
Don Was lurking back there on bass, always so unobtrusive yet magically noticeable!! What a gentle giant in the music industry
This would have been one hell of a tour! Eddie Vedder with The Doors!
What I love from Eddie is his attitude ❤
I imagine the band for a brief moment might zone out and feel that fuzzy feeling like they're right back on stage with Jim. Not saying it sounds just like or as good as Jim but there is a roar in the belly of guys like Jim and Eddie that are few and far between. I got chills at the end...just amazing.
Amazing musicians, best band ever, Jim was the perfect mach for these 3 guys and the sound they can make. Impressive. Missing The Doors!
1:28, Eddie Vedder is hard-coring out to Manzarek blasting away on those keys..Godly!
The instrumental on this is food for thy soul. Thank you 😊 so much ✌️💕🤘💡
Eddie Vedder just sang Jim Morrison's "Light My Fire"!
And the negative comments
are for one reason only. It's
because, YOU DON'T KNOW
EDDIE VEDDER! He is the #1
man in modern Rock who's voice is unmistakable. As the
hot Lead Vocal of PEARL JAM and a Voice that's near perfect!

Epic performance, Loved it🎤
The only thing I see people complaining about is the dumb sounding keyboard, otherwise it's awesome
Eddie Vedder steps back and moves The Doors forward 🙂 great Jam and solo 👌👍
Beautiful performance. I"m not going to lie though, Scott Weiland displayed near perfection when he performed Break on Through and 5 to 1. He was practically channeling Jim Morrison, it was truly incredible. Both he and Eddie were/are great vocalists. R.I.P. Jim, Ray, and Scott. Your priceless contributions will never be forgotten.
+Sam Ace Rothstein Scott Weiland definitely did it more justice. Knocked it out the park.
agree of course I'm a big doors fan
+ReeseMac haven't seen that version yet bet it's good
Are you kidding me, if this isn't a 100% performance then I don't know what is ... Scot gave his own touch to it but Eddie purely reminded us of Jim Morrison, the aggressive tone, pitch everything was on point
In any Eddie vs Scott weiland debate... Eddie is pure raw power and talent and personality and FEEL, weiland just happens to have perfect pitch
You can tell Ray really likes Eddies voice
O Eddie realmente soube fazer uma baita de uma homenagem e esse cover ficou sensacional, fez bom e fez direito! Excelente!
This was as close to the original as they ever got live...Loved it!
+JORGEPSOUSA911 honestly IDK if he still could (and more than just Jim has passed away now), but had they toured with Vedder it would have been both uncanny in vocal sound in many ways and sorta wonderful. Though where the heck is Eddie Vedder now anyway?
+Julia Williams pretty sure pearl jam are just cruising along doing regular 3hr sets
+Julia Williams think Val Kilmer
+Julian Song I wish I had sung that song with the 3 remaining Doors. Shit, I would even have fallen all over the stage like Jim did.
