Well everyone, here it is! Sooner than expected. On March 11th, Southwest Airlines became the last US operator, to return the Boeing 737 Max to active service, following the nearly two year grounding. With service from Denver to Chicago, Southwest flight 6001 took to the skies above the United States with perfect weather and stunning views. As always, I recorded the entire flight, in crystal clear 4K, so you too can fly on this historic flight! Join me on Southwest's Boeing 737-8 Max, reintroduction flight. A couple of notes. This is the first flight filmed with my new iPhone 12 Pro in 4K at 60fps, and this is tomorrow's upload, so there will be no video at 4:00pm central tomorrow. Enjoy!
I would rather have my left leg amputated than fly anything Boeing, especially this POS 737 MAX!
Seems to be very quiet compared to older airplanes. Safe travels max 8.
Welcome back to the skies, Southwest B-737 MAXes. My last four flights were *all* on Southwest 737s - coming back Philadelphia to Reagan National (earlier flight to Las Vegas was also via Philly), and my last flights of any sort - nonstop BWI to McCarran - followed by McCarran to Midway and Midway to Reagan National four days later in 2015. (One year later, I was recovering from surgery - and I have not flown since.) My FIRST flight on Southwest was a nonstop on a 737 - Denver One to be precise - BWI to KCI. I never had a complaint about eiither Southwest or any of their 737s.
Ur a dummy the 737 max 8 can't land at Midway airport on the 737-700 and 737-800 can land there nothing over the 737-800

Im Part of the MAX assembly process, wonderful to see these machines flying again!
I've flown for many years on all the different aircraft over the years, and I have to say, this plane makes a lot of noise.
Me too I work in zone 2 alpha making the sphincters for the aerator bays.
@@brkitdwn although the engines are quieter and more efficient. Remember that they are built higher up into the wing and would probably reverberate more noise into the cabin.

@@LeDerpLegend I dont mind the hum of those engines..especially during the last 30 minutes of the flight lol..

I think they have less style. Definitely a fan of the NG winglets!
@@jmantravels the only thing that the MAX winglet is missing is the scimitar tip, which was a very simple add-on in the case of the NG. Hopefully sometime soon, Aviation Partners or Boeing could make scimitar tip extensions for MAX winglets.
These winglets were developed in-house by Boeing for this aircraft and there won’t be any modifications to it. Aviation Partners Boeing is not involved with these winglets and won’t be making the winglets for the MAX.
@@leeraymer166 I know of course that Boeing will not modify the winglets amytime soon. However, could we still see Boeing start to develop scimitar extensions in the later future, probably when the MAX is no longer associated with controversy at all?

Good view of Downtown Chicago. It's amazing how little their skyline's changed in the past 40 years, whereas in New York, it's changed dramatically.
It's changed drastically. It just looks like it has't from this angle and distance because the main towers are so dominating.
This is now your 4th flight on the MAX I believe? Still an incredible aircraft, always love the wing view along with your videos and also now landing at my home airport, the perfect combo! Hope you enjoyed stopping on a dime at MDW 😉
This was my first time flying into MDW, and it was fun! This was actually my 5th flight on a Max. I flew one before they were grounded. But yes, 4th flight since they returned to service.
The thing that scares me about the 737 Max is the faulty computer and hydraulic systems, plus poor design, that resulted in two 737 Max planes crashing. And the scary and terrifying thing is, when the big jet crashes, everybody on board dies, no questions asked.
@@triton115 Hydraulics? There hasn't been a problem with them on the MAX, the only thing was the AOA System.
Was it faulty? Yes
But the thing is it seems some pilots knew how to shut if off as well, (mainly American and European Pilots) so it is hard to fully determine as well if training (or the lack thereof) was also an issue. With everything that has happened to update the system as well as pilots receiving the training some American and European pilots seem to have gotten beforehand you should feel safe on one of these aircraft!
@@sla31 We fly exclusively in and out of Midway, and I still clench my knuckles on landing. Looking forward to seeing and flying on the Max.

What is all that static noise you hear during taxing, sitting on the tarmac, takeoff and in flight? Boeing's quality engineering no doubt. Reminds me of a scrambling sound. Thought this plane was supposed to be a lot quieter? It's loud and annoying.

I may be the only person to do so! There were a lot of aviation enthusiasts on several of the flights, but I don't know that I saw anyone else on all four. Thanks for watching man!

Fun fact: On april 9th, i was on the 737 max on american. the flight was from MIA to LGA. Also it was an evening in MIA and night when we got to LGA.

Loved that Chicago area scenery. I was a bit surprised just how empty that MAX was. You almost had the plane all to yourself...which I certainly would have enjoyed. :)
Yeah, there were only about 45 people on the flight. Very light, especially considering how busy the airports were. My next flight to Orlando was PACKED.

Where are the MAX haters now? In December I was literally ATTACKED by the haters when I said that I believed the issues (which didn't cause any fatalities in the USA) were repaired.. I was called crazy...asked if the deaths meant nothing to me...yada....yada...yada... Welcome back MAX!!!!

Flew the max about 2-3 weeks ago on one of my 2 flights home. It was only an hour flight sadly but I'm glad I got to fly on one. It was so darn quiet and smooth it was unbelievable lol. Very comfy. I'm glad they're finally back in the air.
I’ve only flown in the 737 max 8 once, on a flight from Las Vegas to Tucson. Even though the landing was kinda rough, i have made it safely to Tucson. Nice vid!

Thanks for the video...taking this flight soon. Unfortunately, the 737-Max started off with a terrible set of tragedies, but this is probably the safest airplane to fly in now. Hoping Boeing and the FAA get their act together...
Favorite part of Flying is being able to go into one of the small stores and get a drink and a snack there instead of doing the food service on the airplane cause I wouldn’t be able to do just water and a small snack

I almost always sit in the front of the plane, way ahead of the wings so I never get a good view (especially because they're sweptback) so thanks for typically sitting in the back half of the plane which provides a much better view of the wings!

My family is going to Florida for spring break. My mom is flying from DSM- Saint Louis and from there to Fort Myers. On Southwest then later the same day me my dad myself my brother who's afraid of heights and my brother's girlfriend is flying from DSM-ORD and from ORD- Fort Myers. But on United. And I've always wanted to ride Southwest but not this time😢😭

@@JoshuasPHXAviation Even with the slightest bit of snow or ice on the wings they have to de-ice, could potentially cause early air seperation on the wing leading to a stall. Hope that helps 😊😁

Ah MDW. yeah this airport and BWI pretty much the main hub airport connection from Albany NY when I fly anywhere with Southwest. :)
Very used to that fly in and quiet different not coming from the East where normally you just cruise right in. Hey SP, make a trip to Albany International sometime. :) They been completely remodeling the airport and it looks great now and have some interesting airline options and routes now. :)

I flew a Max 8 from MIA to LAX before the grounding, and I can 100% confirm that the cabin is very quiet even with those huge engines. An engineering marvel GE pulled off.
