Good review. Lately LG has really dropped the ball on their lower end TVs. Especially when it comes to black levels. Lately have appeared washed out and grayish. This might be an excellent TV for my gaming needs. Ty!
Depends on what you want as a viewer. Either better black/white levels or color reproduction. There will always be a trade-offs on which ips or va benefits most. Va is better at contrast ratios/better whites and deeper blacks but suffers from viewing angles and images are not color accurate; while ips has better color reproduction, sharper/nicer image/video and viewing angles but suffers from backlight bleeds and contrast ratio.

This is the first new TV I’ve purchased in a decade, and I was very grateful for your review! I bought it mostly for watching movies and wonder if I made the right choice. The motion smoothing is very disconcerting to me, but when I put it into Filmmaker Mode, the screen seems yellow and dark. I can’t seem to find a way to just turn off the motion thing, which makes everything look like video. Did I make the wrong choice?
Thanks for your video review. I am buying one Lg 43” 7000 and I am glad I found your video. Buying it for $70 not bad right? I will used mostly for regular tv movies and to monitor my surveillance system around the house. Thanks again -Jorge in Sprubg Hill, FL.

Wow, awesome review. Someone gave us the 50 inch version of this. We have been with Samsung TV’s since 2008. We have a Samsung 4k tv but we have to buy the updated one connect box to make it a true 4k tv.
LG is now confessing that it cannot confirm whether the particular tv set of this model is IPS panel or a VA panel as they have mixed stock of it. So basically we'll be playing lottery with the panel. 🤷🏻♂️
Excellent review! All the information I was looking for. It's so smart not reviewing giant 70 or 85in. televisions. Anyone who thinks you should, might want to try lifting and transporting one of those behemoths. Lol The smaller TVs have the same functions as the larger; it's just a smaller screen, and one person can pop that in the backseat or trunk Thanks for the review
Steve, I'm trying to decide between the Vizio m55q6-j01 and the LG 55up7000. In your opinion, which one has the best image quality? I'm not a gamer. Thanks
Just purchased the 50"7000. I wish there was a more complete technical manual that described more in detail as to what this TV can do. It's kind of confusing, I find, coming from my 50" Vizio which was fully documented and well labeled with many types of ends and outs. I find on this LG where the optic and hard wire internet connections are located is not in a very accessible place when using a rear mounting bracket. I loaded my OTA TV inputs and it found my channels and when I view them the TV opens up 800 more which I have assumed is coming from the Pluto feed. Overall seems to have a very good pict. Thanks for the review.
What type of panel did the Samsung have? Does Samsung tend to over brighten the colors? What is quite eye opening is how much the 43" 4K monitors have come down in price! Thanks for the great review! On the LG, you have to use the included remote, or an App? Thanks!
I’m not a gamer nor do I watch sports. I only need 1 hdmi port, and I’m a fan of shadows and blackness. I think the UP7000 is what I’ll need. Most certainly the UP8000 has better picture quality, but I only spend a few hours watching TV most days. As for turning it into a computer monitor, yes, looking forward to that for work-related stuff. I hope my analysis pays off.

So I need you to do a video on top 5 best tvs in different budget ranges. I've been trying to find a really good tv for under 6-$700 and anything between 50"-65".
I had an expensive Sony for years which was marketed for its superb black levels - it simply meant that in dark scenes you did not see any detail at all. I remember watching a film - Elisabeth - on the Sony and the wooden sailing warships had black hulls with no detail. I watched the same scene on a Samsung and I could see that the hulls were made from individual planks, could see the wood grain and nails in each plank. For years I watched the Sony where scenes just went black - Sci Fi films where dark seens showed only blackness but on other makes of TV there were actual things going on. I mention this as I was reminded of it when I saw your side by side comparission of the LG and the Samsung. No detail in the black hair of the woman. Thanks for this review. The LG is on sale today in the UK for £329 - but I will give it a miss.
You have to look at native contrast ratios to know what it's going to actually look like. VA is nearly twice that of IPS but they all have their limitations. VA also has a problem with dark smearing in motion

So I have an Amazon Echo Dot. Would I be able to turn on and turn off this TV with it?
I will work if you setup the LG ThinQ app and use your credentials in the Amazon Skills

Hello. I bought the lg 55up77. I'm wondering if the hands free voice control is really not available? . Or only push to talk method? Will Amazon alexa helps to have hands free voice control?
Nope only features like off and on
