Enjoy!
RIP Marin Mazzie. One of the most brilliant performers of musical theatre. She will be missed terribly
came here immediately after hearing the news. rest in peace, marin mazzie. you will be greatly missed. today is a sad day for theatre.
Wat how did she die
Kyle rutherford ovarian cancer in 2018.
Marin has such an interesting take on Diana. Alice was so frail, which I liked, but Marin brings so much strength to the role.
Also some extra humour, which is very interesting
Marin should be on the cast recording. She is absolutely flawless. Her voice was made for this score.
I really like Meghan's 'Natalie'. I love Jenn also, but Meghan brings a sympathetic gentleness to the character. Jenn's 'Natalie' was much angrier, especially towards the character Diana. Meghan shows a nice balance of anger and empathy towards her which is touching.
Yes I loved this about her portrayal as well!
yes she brings a nuance. She sounds singing identical to jenn which is crazy though
"How Could I Ever Forget" is just heartbreaking... Well done. This is definitely one of Marin's hidden gems in the show.
WISH YOU WERE HERE. LOVE YOU MARIN. THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR GIFTS.
How come I never see any praise for Dr. Madden at least? It’s an integral character to the story and given the material and stylistic choices of the songs for him, it works with what he’s given. He’s played a little flat here but overall the compassion he shows for Diana and wanting to help her and her family should be there and played into the performance.
Best cast and play I've ever seen!!!!! Marin and Jason forever!
***** Yes, they were great. I purchased the original CD cast recording from them also and I enjoy it. I prefer Jason & Marin's performance overall.
Rest in Peace Marin Mazzie ❤️
Adam Chanler-Berat is the only Henry. Literally. He's just that awesome.
All three Henrys I saw were amazing. I think Brian Justin Crum might be my favorite though.
Kathleen Parker It seems like having three names is a requirement to playing Henry
Only just discovered the sad news of Marin passing from this realm. Oh how she will be missed!!!!
I saw this cast and they were soooo good. Marin Mazzie was incredible as Diana, it was amazing to watch knowing that she was playing against her real life husband. I probably cried throughout most of the show, definitely all of act two. I'll never forget this performance.
I can’t believe we lost Marin so soon. She was truly a tour de force. I come back to this bootleg so often.
THIS JUST IN: Marin Mazzie just passed away at the age of 57 after a long courageous battle with cancer. What a powerful and emotional talent. She will be missed. RIP Prayers go out to Jason and everyone in Marin's life.
What an amazing talent... RIP.
This Dan is so perfect :-) He shows all the emotions for the character especially through his eyes. It's like he is being the character rather than acting like the character :-)
1:31:03. That moment is a masterclass in acting through the song. Marin was such a treasure.
R.I.P. Marin. A beautiful soul and storyteller.
She effingi sang it. The part was stitched on the vocal tics on Alice Ripley. Who is a sacred monster. Unreal. Jason Daniely is simply the best singer Broadway has seen in decades.
"He's Not Here" gave me the fells so much
I didn't think I'd ever see this one. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this! I've been dying to see Marin in this role and she did not disappoint.
God, they were wonderful. And I saw the original cast--also terrific. Just amazing in a terrific show.
My heart..... I haven't been able to watch this ... now I remember why =(
GUYS! Click to 1:26:09 and look at Adam. He puts the ticket down. Then replay it and look at Kyle! It just shows how much control Gabe really has over the family and it is also magnificent acting from Kyle!
yes i agree!
After seeing Mazzie here being an incredible Diana, I wonder how Audra would do.
I feel like LaChanze would also be a good fit for Diana.
I would give a leg to see LaChanze as Diana with Hailey Kilgore or Celia Gooding as Natalie
I think Marin is a stronger singer, but Alice Ripley WAS Diana-- the vulnerability of her voice fit Diana perfectly, and I think both women (and casts for that matter) are amazing but I'm glad Alice originated.
I agree here. Although voice is the most important feature, Alice is the better actress. I saw a production with Kendra Kassebaum as Diana and Kendra is not only gorgeous but she can REALLY sing. However, she didn't move the audience the way Alice Ripley did as Alice had the audience in tears at a few points.
emeraldEvi To me Jessica Phillips was the best Diana
This cast needs to do a film adaptation
Samiar Nefzi i agree
Dulcechicayoutuber I mean... not really possible now, sadly
Epic Remarc rip ;-;
I watched them live and it was amazing. I have no words to describe my feelings during and after the play. My favourite cast! Thanks for posting the video!
i wish i knew more bout this show when i went to new york city the first time. i would have seen this. but this works too
Both of them are 50 in this show. 50!!!! Amazing
Marin was 50, Jason was 40
RIP Marin ❤️ Your brilliance was unmatched.
I felt the other cast kind of made the whole thing like more of a metaphor, where as with this cast I felt the story was kind of easier to follow, anybody else?
Also I have a strong preference for Marin. I loved the way she performed Alice.
I think you mean Diana.. Alice was the (utterly incomparable) singer who originated the role of Diana.
Nathan Sullins might as well call her Alice, since she's the queen of that role anyway.
Kaitlyn Rose I particularly liked Jessica Phillips' portrayal seeing as her voice is less grating, she showed how someone so broken could seem normal on the outside, and her I Miss the Mountains and You Don't Know/I Am the One performances were sensational. Alice Ripley though was absolutely necessary to showcase the vulnerability of Diana's fragile mind.
+Nathan Sullins Alice was the utterly incomparable ACTRESS who originated Diana. Her singing leaves a lot to be desired.
There's nothing wrong with Alice's voice. She's the perfect Diana. She has all the nuance of the character. Marin, though, also great lacks the layers Alice have brought to this role.
I love this cast so much! Kyle, Meghann, Marin! Oh! I can't say it's my favorite, biased towards Aaron, Alice, Bobby, Adam, Jennifer.... Hehe... Love this show. Love this music. Love this cast. :)
I saw this production with marin - SO AMAZING!!!!
My fave musical since 2013 ❤️
God, I love Jason Daniely. And Marin.
Maghann sounds a lot like Jennifer!
And they look so similar.
I've watched this show with a few different casts, the original is the best.
i know it's been a while but i miss her
This video is why bootlegs are important.
Thank you so much for this!
The superior cast.
Ummm this is amazing!! Thanks for catching this :-)
YAY! I was looking at the comments and hoping someone else was thinking the same thing. This is my first time seeing him, and I'm really impressed with him too :)
The video and sound quality of this cast of NTN is way better than the recording of the Original Broadway cast. I like both casts. But I really like Aaron Tveit as Gabe more than Kyle, Jason as Dan, and Meghann as Natalie.
So... you like Marin.
I really really like this cast!
Holy crap What on earth I just heard Marin died. She was the one I saw on broadway when I first saw Next to Normal. I never knew of her before the show and loved her interpretation. Truly shocked. I even got a broken musicbox prop from the show that breaks. She and Jason signed it for some AIDS or some other awareness thing back in November 2011 I believe. Wow this is surreal.
rip marin mazzie, so talented and gone far too soon 💔
Marin's voice is much stronger than Alice's which technically might make this version better but Alice Ripley IS Dianna and brought that roll to life so while I think that the vocals in this are stronger I still think the original cast is better
I Am The One reprise doesn't get enough love
Hey all, a new download link has been added to the description under this video (click "show more"). I'm also in the process of setting up links for the other videos. (You will not need any account to access these links.) I'm hoping that the server will be able to handle the demand, and that this will be more convenient for you guys. As always, feel free to message me with any questions.
anyone else notice that when Jason starts singing Light, he says "light after light" instead of "night after night"?
Meghann and Adam are both awesome actors, but somehow I feel Adam doesn't share the chemistry with her like he did with Jenn.
Rest in Peace
This show really messes up my emotions.😭
Okay Meghann Fahy sound SO MUCH like Jennifer it's scary
Seeing Adam kiss another girl that's not Jennifer low-key upsets me, but Meghann was awesome!
Does anyone know of any other later performances of this cast later on in their run pls? closing night?
That's Saton Brandy right there
Meghann as Natalie!! 😍😍😍❤❤
i can't believe she died RIP
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I've just managed to upload a download link for this video; it is now included in the video description. Feel free to let me know if you have any further questions.
I noticed you have links to download some of these in the description to some of your other videos...is this one available to be downloaded? If not, having it here is wonderful, and you're amazing for uploading it, but was just curious.
Is it just me, or does Meghann sound almost EXACTLY like Jenn?
It's uncanny!!!!
exactly!!!
I love this musical!! But I have some issues with it. One thing that seriously annoys me is for some songs they move a lot and it's great to watch, but for others they just don't move.
Does anyone have Jessica Phillips preformance?
RIP Marin Mazzie
7:06 Everything Else (Natalie)
thats the camera! hahaha, if that actually happened during the show, that would be some great broadway news, hahaha.
33:27 SuperBoy & The Invisible Girl
This is probably my favorite cast for the show.
But damn, this guy needs to do better camera work, this is terrible.
I really like Mazzie as Diana but not a huge fan of Dan
Nothing beats OBC Aaron and Alice are perfection.
that's not true
40:06 I'm Alive
Men, Marin is fantastic, but she doesn't have what it takes to pull off this rock part.
What a shame Mazzie did not originate the role. She's twice as talented as her predecessor.
So is Gabriel just a hallucination or is he also a ghost??? Because near the end at 1:55:17 the father knew that he was there. And also does he finally stop bothering them or does he follow his mom?
He is their grief. He's not a ghost. He doesn't exist. When Diana accepts it Gabe's gone. Notice he is now wearing the Dad's color. Notice Diana doesn't acknowledge him, At the end the Gabe left, is his dad's grief that he was not able to grieve because he was too busy taking care of his wife.
Ohhhhhhh. ok. thanx. =)
He is also, in a way, the personification of Diana's illness, like an extension of what's going on her mind.
I can't stand Alice Ripley's performance (unrelated to her scandal). Marin's is finally a Diana I can watch.
Alice is innocent and a amazing person and performer. I miss Marin though so much we all do.
Ok is the camera making the lighting change or was the light technician drunk or something lol...they change so abruptly and randomly. It's especially noticeable during Song Of Forgetting
Andor it is the cameraman changing exposure to adjust to the bright lighting washing out the characters. Then in dark scenes it is too dark so he changes the setting so you can see the action and so on. A lot of bootlegs have these adjustments. if you watch enough of them youll notice it quite a bit.
The son just needs to MOVE ON
Joseph Sireno you say like he had a choice. It was always my interpretation that it was Dianne and and in the end Dan as well that couldn't let go. He wasn't so much a ghost that couldn't move on, but a piece of his parents that they couldn't let go of. He was a part of them and they couldn't let themselves move on from the tragedy of his death.
And Kyle's voice is too nasally...
I might just be biast because I'm so used to the OBC, but does anyone else think Kyle sound a bit nasally?
I feel like this dan's singing was really choppy, and he didn't have the breath control that the original did, he was good, but nowhere near the original
I know the person who posted this didn't record this, but damn this is the worst recording I've ever seen. Focus on the characters that are singing, dammit, not on random parts of the set. >:(
Dude, how many bootlegs have you watched? This is actually pretty quality compared to other bootlegs I've seen.
be grateful one exists instead
I prefer the original actors besides dan/natalie
Ok?
27:34
Worst camera ever
I love Marin, but there were some very odd vocal choices here.
It's like she's headvoicing half the songs, which is weird because Marin Mazzie is no stranger to a strong belt. The songs need a bit more edge and power to them but she comes across too frail.
I don't really like this cast :/ I love Alice and Jessica as Diana, to me Aaron is the only Gabe and Jen is the only Natalie but Meghann was good. She sounds so similar. Not into Marin as Diana though or Bobby as Dan :/
No. This is the reason this show closed after the cast change. They can sing but they really missed the point of the show. Vocally it is so weak. And, sorry, but this Dianne is a great vocalist. But she doesn't in the least capture the mannic of Diane. She is the lead character and pushes the whole emotion of the show. She never reached that point for me. Sure, she is finally perfect. And Alice had a few vocal train wreck but at least she was totally in character 1000% of the time. This was lackluster.
no you are wrong
This was her and Jason (Dan)'s first performance after three weeks of rehearsal. It is unfair to compare it to Ripley as she (and the rest of her costars) had been fine tuning their performances over the time spent at Second Stage, in DC, and on Broadway.
Main's Diana found her mania. Her darkness. But it didn't happen over night. It never does
