The men of our assembly have been blessed by Ligonier Connect. The amount of history that we don’t receive in the “government camps” growing up has just been astounding in more ways then I imagined going into it. For eight years, I studied the Book of the Revelation of Jesus Christ. I find it full of His love and compassion for us. Why are there so few Christian wanting to study it?
Dee, I agree. I think the reason may be two fold: There's a lot of imagery that needs to be rightly interpreted and sometimes it can be a bit overwhelming because you want to know what is right. Also, there are so many differing views (many that use scripture) sometimes it can make it more of a battle to get it "right" than to be blessed by it. But you are 100% correct; Revelation 1:3 says blessed are those that read the words in that book to hear it and keep the things written in it. And my wife said the same thing when she studied it as well, it's all about Jesus Christ and His love.
I think its also important to say, while studying theology, be careful that you are not simply studying a certain doctrinal position. If you do, your confirmation bias, which we are all susceptible to, will confirm your misunderstanding of scripture.
Studying the Bible doesn't seem to make much of a difference when life is going well. But when life gets difficult, a good biblical theology is essential.
