The first time I heard Little Big Town, I knew they needed to play the Tiny Desk. This was eight years ago, when the country foursome made a splash with the playful hit "Pontoon." The easy fun these friends projected won me over, but I stayed for the crazy powerful harmonies. I soon discovered that Little Big Town had been perfecting its vocal blend for more than a decade - and the group just got better, and more adventurous, as its star rose. In 2014 came the spine-tingling ballad "Girl Crush," in 2017 the Taylor Swift collaboration "Better Man." Both songs won Grammys. This year Little Big Town topped itself with its ninth album, Nightfall, a perfect balance of meditative moments and bangers that extends its reign as country's greatest contemporary quartet.
Little Big Town was making plans to appear at the Desk before the pandemic descended; instead, the members woodshedded separately, with married couple Jimi Westbrook and Karen Fairchild taking some beach time and Kimberly Schlapman and Phillip Sweet focusing on their own families. Returning to Nashville as the school year began, they gathered their expert band together (including a surprise guest trumpeter) for a career-spanning session in Fairchild and Wesbrook's living room. Early on, Fairchild notes that this is the longest the singers have spent apart in 25 years. You wouldn't know it. From the lush balladry of "Nightfall" to the party fun of "Wine, Beer, Whiskey" - and onward through absolutely chills-inducing versions of two of their biggest hits - Little Big Town shows how four voices can become one, and so much more than the sum of the parts.

Yes, thank you NPR for highlighting one of my favorite country artists! So much country music right now is not the greatest. Little big town are one of the exceptions. This version of Boondocks gives me chills! I also recommend ‘Lost in California’, ‘Better Man’, and so many others. The former song has amazing Fleetwood Mac vibes.

Was lucky enough to see them in concert years ago opening for Carrie Underwood. When they performed Stay, just sitring on stools with acoustic guitars, literally got goosebumps for the first time ever at a live show

They have 8 ACM awards and 9 CMA awards as well as many others. Their TH-cam channel has almost 7K followers. They've been going at it for 22 years. How are they underrated?

My favorite song from them is ‘Sober’. Check it out; the 4-part harmonies are unreal.
Nightfall performed live is killer! Like others have commented, I am not typically a country fan but have always enjoyed Little Big Town and this performance is such a treat.

Listened to their first album CONSTANTLY when I was younger. I haven't listened to country music in 10+ years and this reminds me how much I loved Little Big Town. I need to catch up with what I missed!

I discovered them this year in Liverpool when they supported the Eagles while they were on their euro tour! little big town are apsolutely brilliant 🤩, I love their catchy tunes, on point harmonies and great songwriting, way to go!

Stumbled on them in college when they were on the True Blood soundtrack and I fell in love, which was new for me, because I usually don't listen to country. I started thinking differently about the genre as a whole since then.
