This is one book I am most looking forward to this year but I am so very disappointed about the paper, I’m not sure why they would change the paper when it was good the way it was. You’re very lucky to get an early copy of this book, hope you enjoy it and thanks for the flip through ❤😊
It is the book I was most looking forward to as well. Let's hope the paper in the officially released books are the same as always. Hopefully the publisher confirms this soon ☺️💗
Even if (I am most certain ) I cannot finish colouring all the books that I have in this lifetime, I am still going to get this simply because of the beautiful illustrations. Looking at them makes my happy. Thank you for sharing.
Agreed! I love to look at my uncoloured pages too....a hobby in itself looking at all the beautiful artwork out there! And this book and Melpomeni's style is amongst my most favourite ☺️💗
Oh wow, that looks amazing! Definitely a contender for my favorite of hers. I will keep my fingers crossed that the paper is the same as her other books because it was such good paper. Or at least that it will still work with water mediums. Thanks for sharing this!!
The book is definitely stunning!! I am yet to colour in it, but I will find out soon enough with regards to the paper. I still can't seem to pick my first page to colour, I simply love every page! 😂💗
One of the ladies I watch goes over the dark bits on the pictures if there to dark with an electric rubber to lighten it up. Love this book how you do some pages I love your stile of colouring
I love Melpomeni's work, so I'm really looking forward to the UK release date of Enchanted Earth. If the paper is thinner, that's a little disappointing. However, since the pages are single sided it wouldn't stop me from purchasing the book. I love both Circle of Life and Nature Mandalas, so I can't really name a favourite!
Agreed! The paper would still not stop me buying her books - they are amongst the very few artists that are an auto-buy for me. I love all her work and this book is stunning 🤗💗
I’ve just received my copy of this book the paper is the same as your copy very thin paper but beautiful images wish the paper was the same as the other books 💖
Yes I wish they had just stuck to the same paper, not sure why they had to change it! Luckily it worked for me when I coloured a page in it, but if one was to use watercolour paints I am sure the paper may be too thin 💗
Thanks so much for the review, even more excited to get this book, (have it on pre order). Looking like this is going to be my new favorite ❤️ So many amazing pages😊
I am really looking forward to see you color in this book! I love this book. It is definately my favorite of her so far! I hope the paper will be ok in the official release.
Hi Shelly! Oh My Goodness, the New Book is Absolutely Gorgeous. I see a Good Blend of Circle of Life and Nature Mandalas with some New Elements, such as the Fairies, Mermaid, Chess or Checkerboard. I can't hardly wait to get My Copy! I know exactly what I am doing first! Thank You for Sharing the Flip Through 💜💜💜
Hi Sherry! Yes it is such a beautiful book....I definitely love the hints of the new elements in them. Let's hope there will be a future book with more of them 🤗💗
I love her work and pre-ordered this as soon as I heard about it. I have to agree it might be the best yet, and her other two are among my favorites. Thanks for the flip through. Can’t wait to get it.
Ooooh lucky you getting an early copy! Super to see it thanks for showing❤ I’m in mixed minds about this, I might wait till ‘The works” have it and look in real life. I always use watercolour in her books, so if that is how the paper is, I don’t think I’ll get it, as I can’t see that working well. I think it would have be nice to have a few double page spreads as well. Beautiful images, but it does feel very similar to the other books. No doubt I’ll still get it, but it’s not an auto buy for me, thanks for letting us see, x ❤😊
Thank you Wendy, I was definitely happy to receive it as I think this is the book I have been most looking forward to! 😂 Yes, I think I would have always got a copy of this book....for me, Melpomenis' work has been an auto-buy. I love her work and this book is no different. But yes, let's hope the paper is the same as always once it is released 🤗💗
A beautiful book with some major worries for me. As a person who has a pre publish copy I hope you can give the publishers feedback and get answers regarding the paper quality and possible cut off pages. The book is a higher price so those of us placing pre orders will be expecting the same quality paper and no printing errors. I am wondering if I should cancel my pre-order. Please let us know what the publishers tell you regarding these two issues. Thank you so much for the heads up and look at the art.
To be honest, I personally love her artwork so much that I would still have bought the book if the paper was slightly different. Although I do hope that the official books are the same as her others and it is just the pre-release that has this paper. I have contacted the publisher, but I haven't heard back yet - probably because I received the book on Friday evening. So lets hope we get some clarification next week ☺️💗
THe moment you flicked the paper with your hand i could hear the thinness of it! Lol, which is such a shame ! , but still i have to say that the images are beautiful , no doubt her best work yet !! I love all her books

It is definitely beautiful artwork! The paper is thinner but I have been working in it and it is not too bad....unless of course you work with water colour paints, then it may be a problem with the thinner paper. Hope you enjoy it if you decide to get it 🤗💗
Since you got an advanced copy is it like when a publisher sends a novel and you get to review it and and feed back? Can you mention the paper and the cut off of pictures on some pages? They may have time to fix it.
Let's hope so! I contacted the publisher straightaway, so let's see what they come back with. Didn't expect an immediate response as it is the weekend 🤗💗
The images are very pretty indeed. However, I am unsure about how to treat the thick line work, which seems quite dominant to me. Do you have any tips or tricks? How do you deal with it?
Yes beautiful work, and you are right the lines are quite dark/thick in some areas. I don't always worry about he lifework, but sometimes for certain elements on the page I will use paint pens to cover up the black lines - you can use coloured ones if you have them or if you don't then a white or ivory paint pen would work and if you need to colour over them, you can always do that with the shades you need. Hope this helps! 🤗💗
Okay. I just went to Book Depository and checked on this book. Not only the UK edition sells at a significantly higher price vis-à-vis the US edition (HKD208.68 vs HKD117.67), their weights are "tons" apart (470g vs 159g) also. I suppose paper quality dictates the price? For comparison, my UK edition NATURE MANDALAS weighs 470g, according to BD anyway.
I'm surprised the dates of realeasing the book are so different. It's been in the shops for many months here in Norway. (The Norwegian edition)I think it was late autumn last year.. Anyways the book is just stunning, but I haven't coloured in it yet. Too many books, and so little time 🥰I'm looking forward to start colouring in it though. Thanks for all the Nice colourings you've shared on your channel, you're such an amazing colourist. I love all your beautiful pages and your colour alongs 🥰I'm looking forward to see you colour in this book 🥰Happy colouring 🥰
Yes, it was actually a very large gap between the Norway release and UK release. It happens with a lot of books though I think, but usually the gap is not as long! It is a very beautiful book....not sure how long it will take me to get started in it too, as I am finding all the pages so stunning I can't pick a single one to start with 😂
This is a beautiful book I really like it a lot !!! I can’t wait to see what you choose to color first ❤ you will be flipping through it and doing a lot of studying before you choose wow it would be a hard decision 😂
Wow this is unreal. So far I've only covered one page in Circle of Life. I got Nature Mandalas for Christmas but haven't got to it yet. I want this one now too though 🤣 so many books, so little time!!
I am totally with you there, too many pages I want to colour and too little time. But I love looking through uncoloured pages too, especially when they look like the ones in this book 😂💗
In Germany, two editions of the book will appear on Amazon. The first will be released on February 16, 2023 and was probably created in collaboration with someone else. The second will be released on April 04, 2023 and is by her alone. Both have 96 pages and both are English editions. I don't know what difference there will be between the two books. Except the price. The first book is cheaper than the second book.
@@shelscolouringjourney The first book will be published through O Mara Books Ltd. The second book on Thunder Bay Press. But I don't know where these publishers have their headquarters.
I love her illustrations but am weary about buying this one since the paper is of a lesser quality. I enjoy at least using Inktense and I don’t think that will be a viable option with this book’s thin paper. I hope this won’t be the final paper choice. I’m fine with the illustrations being cut off at the edge, not as big of a deal breaker as the bad paper. Thanks for the flip through!
Hopefully the paper will still work with inktense and limited water.....I will give it a try soon I hope....I use Albrecht Dürers so hopefully they will work well too!! ☺️💗
Yey! You got the book 😁I'm currently working on the icy penguin page, but I can't tell what the item around is 🤔What is the "box" they are inside? Let me know if you have any idea! For now I believe its a kettle of some sort
I still haven't found the courage to start off in the book 😂 flipped through it like 5 times now! Hmm is that the page with like a galaxy background? It is a bit confusing....but maybe something like a tent lol 🤔😂
I prefer circle of life, this is beautiful but too intricate for me .I'm disappointed with this one but I'm absolutey sure that you will do wonders with it.
oh dear, so sorry this did not live up to your style. I really do like it, but then again I love busy pages generally, so maybe that's why I love it the intricate artwork ☺️💗
Sounds like thinner paper is one way the publishers are saving themselves some money. Does not make me happy, would rather pay more $ for quality paper. Thanks for the flip through
Totally agree! For artwork like that I would definitely prefer they kept the same quality paper as the previous books and charged slightly more. Although, I have tested out the paper and it works well, although I don't think drenching the paper with water would be a great idea! 🤗💗
Hi Shel! I pre-order this book and i like the artwork, but…..i am affraid now about the paper. I think this is the paper you get in this book. Why print with a diverent paper, because you are going to show it to us? When people hear about the thinner paper maybe they don’t want to buy it. That’s why i love the Rita Berman and Johanna Basford books. The paper is always fantastic! (In Europe).
Hi Linda, I am not sure why the publishers chose to go for thinner paper. But fortunately the texture is the same as the previous books and I have been testing it out, and it works good. Maybe those who enjoy using watercolour paints will probably not be happy though 🤗💗
Yes, I was actually surprised. But I keep my fingers crossed that it is because the book I have received is a pre-release copy. I have contacted the publishers, so hopefully it will be clarified soon ☺️💗
The artwork in this book is beautiful. I ordered the book but sadly I had to return it. Why would you publish a coloring book with such dark thick lines? I feel to make a good realistic picture the lines need to be as light and fine as possible.
That's so sad to hear, sorry you didn't like the line art. I love her work so much that I think I have just learnt to work with her style of dark lines. There is one page (peacock) in this book I am sure I will struggle with the amount of black in it. But I love the rest of it. 🤗💗
I gave away the first two during a recent book declutter. I love her art and it looks great in black and white, but she uses very heavy line work, and once color is added my work in them always comes out extremely dark and murky. I think since you use a lot a paint pen things may come out better, because it's able to cover most of it...but it's not my typical style, I generally use transparent medium and I was just frustrated with the results. I held on to her first two books for a long time even though I never worked in them anymore because I think the cover to her first book is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen (the Koi with the foil accents), however I decided to make some serious decisions to keep only my most favorite books, and they didn't make the cut. It's a similar situation to the earlier Mythographic books with excessive "hidden objects" which I also passed on. I've kept only the later J. Catambang ones with fewer and more well placed objects, and the new ones with none. I've also started spiral binding my books, so I have to love them enough to justify that expense. It's a shame about the paper, I noticed the covers look less expensive too. I guess it's the times with everything being more expensive to make, but it's also true that I see this happen too often with superior quality being used until they become popular then a drop.. because fans will buy it regardless. Johanna Bassford had similar issues, and still does with her paper in the US far inferior to that in other countries. I've decluttered most of hers as well keeping only Wonder, Flowers, and Ivy.. I haven't purchased Rooms and may not since I only like about half of it and have PLENTY of other books I love waiting. Trying to get real about how much I can actually color and what I want to be a priority.
Yes, there is definitely not enough time for all the books we all tend to collect. But I also like to flip through books that are uncoloured and just admire the artwork from all this artists out there, so that in itself is a hobby for me 😂 I guess everyone has different tastes - for me Melpomenis are work is an auto-buy from her first book and I love her artwork. And I genuinely enjoy the mythographic books too!! They are amongst my favourite books to colour 🤗💗
It is disappointing to have thinner paper, but I have tried colouring on it and it works fine, just like the previous books. But won't be able to use too much water if someone wishes to do watercolour painting 💗
I love the phrase “coloring time” vs “busy/intricate to describe pages that have a lot of detail.
😂 I love intricate pages, so I tend to look at them from a more positive angle...more colouring time for the same cost 😂😂💗

I have her mandala book. I had a bit of an epiphany with her illustrations. To me, her pages are crying out for Inktense!
They would work wonderfully!! ☺️💗
@@shelscolouringjourney Thank you Shel! Luckely i am the one who not work with watermediums (yet). I co
I wanted to say: my order comes a little bit later, but i am not in a hurry!
We got this book in Norway (November)
That's amazing! ☺️💗
Kind of sad regarding the quality of the paper. I use watercolour so I will wait for more reviews before getting the book,
Yes, I was actually surprised.
Yes, the bad paper, I am very disappointed!!!!
It is disappointing to have thinner paper, but I have tried colouring on it and it works fine, just like the previous books. But won't be able to use too much water if someone wishes to do watercolour painting 💗
I love it. I love detailed pages.
Same here! Beautiful book ☺️💗
