Yes, very helpful vid! PROTIP for Miata Community: After installation of parts and doing the BLEED job...if you have trouble with getting all air bubbles out of line after numerous repeated attempts -- try removing the Bleed Screw and applying a couple of layers of Teflon Plumbers Tape (don't cover bleed hole, though) on threads. After a lot of frustration, this finally eliminated air leaking back into the Slave cylinder (despite the Bleed Screw being fully tightened), facilitating a vacuum for the air bubble-free flow of brake fluid and completion of the Bleeding. Hope this helps others facing this predicament !!
My girlfriend and I are about to manual swap her '97 M-edition and just scored all the manual parts super cheap, yet haven't found much info on the extended braided lines. Your video answered all my questions THANK YOU!
Useful video. My ‘96 started to not disengage the clutch. No leaks so assumed the master cylinder. I swapped the “slave” cylinder at the same time even though I only have 40k miles on the car. This was a helpful video. Definitely worth getting the proper line wrench for the cables. You will need both deep and shallow sockets to do this job. Bleeding went better than I expected.
Made my day seeing another of your fantastic Miata videos! I've got 208K on my '95, still with the original clutch disk/pressure plate, and clutch master & hardline. The slave cylinder was replaced by the dealership back in the early 2000's due to a leak. All of this is now on my "to-do" list, as my Miata is now my 'project car'... Thanks!
Not trying to brag BUUUUUUUUT, I have a 95 Roadster with 92k mikes on the original engine. This spring marks the LAST emissions inspection ever...😈 P.S. First time seeing this channel and the name you chose is just perfect. 👌
Any new videos? Hard to imagine that this old Miata doesn't need repairs? Enjoyed your video series. I like that you have issued part numbers to help us with upgrading and saves tons of time.
The old Miata is currently dead. At the moment it's covered under a foot of snow, and the battery is dead. Waiting for it to warm up outside before I start working on it again. It will happen though...I appreciate everyone's patience.
I’ve got to get that braided line. I’ve changed the slave cylinder at least 4 times and it still leaks at the slave side hard line nut. The most recent time I even used RTV on the threads and Teflon tape on the inside of the nut...still leaks. At this point I can feel the fluid level through the clutch pressure down to a 1/8” low!
I had a similar problem with me NA drivers side brake hard line, was pre rounded for my enjoyment, had to change the whole line, luckily on the imports the master cylinder is on the drivers side too!
No idea if this vid will be helpful. But I know I'll like it. Good to see you back. Edit 30:46 later. I suspect it will be very helpful. Mia just rolled over 126000, 16000 of which have been done by me in 2 years so I guess I'll searching this video out sometime in 2021! Pity you can only leave 1 like on YT.
Thanks man, yeah I hope it does help you out someday. I'm certainly not making these videos for my health or for money...lol...my channel's not even monetized yet!! I do it to show people that even an idiot like myself can do jobs like this.
@@BecauseMiata It's very encouraging for all us other idiots. Before seeing this I'd never have contemplated attacking this kind of job myself. Now I'm pretty sure I could do it, though I fear the rusty bolt problem will be my lot too. May was a month of cutting, welding, filling and painting my rear sills and wheel arches. Mia is now rust free in those areas but it was a long job. Looking forward to the next one.
same thing happened to me! i replaced the master and slave and still didn’t have any pressure in the clutch. i’m gonna go ahead and replace the hardline and hopefully that does it for me
I need to change the master cylinder and then open that bleeder..(I don't have a bunch of tools so I was trying to find the size) and you are the ONLY ONE who says that this is 8 mm . Thank you! I love the entry and your videos.. even you bought that electric nightmare! hehe just kidding..
Did you eventually have to switch out your clutch and flywheel shortly after this video? Or did your stock clutch and flywheel still last a long time after the clutch hydraulic refresh?
Very helpful video(i just knew you were going to have to replace that old line for new one!)...I have a mx5 mk2.5 with clutch slave I am replacing....I know the frustration of trying to remove rusty bolts too!😉.Hope you still have your Mk1.
Yes sir, they're a 15x8 with a 36 offset. I wrapped them in Yokohama S-Drive summer tires 205/50. They fit perfect, and I did NOT have to roll the fenders. I'm also on coilovers and still didn't have to roll them. You can watch the reveal video with all the specs here: th-cam.com/video/QLiYiz5EYh8/w-d-xo.html
I can see how bouncy the car is in the first part of the video. My new (old) ‘97 is too. Is that because yours has bad shocks or are these cars just like that?
They're just like that, I think. I have an adjustable coilover suspension installed, and I've set the stiffness for somewhere in the middle. Here's that video: th-cam.com/video/9GwofE-qQgo/w-d-xo.html
Oh...at 13:02, you just make a rookie mistake and trying to mans-plain your ass out of it. tip: when it dont give; tighten and reverse, works al the time.... Heat is a last resource, and you were doing it wrong. learn from someone that knows what heat does to metal before you try this "trick...". i just did the exact operation on my mothers Miata, Exactly the same slave-cylinder since 1991(when it was new), piece of cake. took like 4 minutes.
If it works, is it the wrong way? Hmmmm. I do appreciate your input though. You obviously know some things, but sometimes you need to be aware of how you word things. You just criticized my man-splaination with your own man-splaination of how I did it wrong. 🤷🏻♂️ Thanks for watching. I’ll try to do better in the next one.

Man you are then only video showing this SS clutch line! Good info and helped me install mine!

I Find myself having to bleed the clutch every few months on my 90 miata with 212k
As long as you don't have rust, it's a fairly simple job to do yourself. You'll just need help bleeding the clutch.
Not trying to brag BUUUUUUUUT,
I have a 95 Roadster with 92k mikes on the original engine. This spring marks the LAST emissions inspection ever...😈

The key information is presented well but this video could easily be half the length it is and still provide all the necessary information.
hell yeah, probably gonna do this job here soon this week. appreciate it!
same thing happened to me! i replaced the master and slave and still didn’t have any pressure in the clutch. i’m gonna go ahead and replace the hardline and hopefully that does it for me
Did it fix it for you?
I need to change the master cylinder and then open that bleeder..(I don't have a bunch of tools so I was trying to find the size) and you are the ONLY ONE who says that this is 8 mm . Thank you! I love the entry and your videos.. even you bought that electric nightmare! hehe just kidding..
Thanks for watching! I'm glad I was able to help you out. That EV has been an absolute DREAM...no nightmares :)

OMG, OMG! That totally looks like where they filmed Ferris Bueller! Do you know Ferris????
Little known fact...they filmed that movie based on my life story ;)
Best stuf i have to undo old parts
Hey I know this is random but I noticed the creasing from your miata soft top was resolved. Did you fix this manually or did it go away over time?
Great install video very valuable
Those ones always go out, how has yours held up ?
May I ask what are your wheel and tire specs? and did you need to roll the fenders to fit the 6uls?

Because Miata wow that’s great. They look brilliant btw and I’m definitely getting some bronze ones for my silverstone:)
Great content, thanks 👍
Very helpful
Definitely wear gloves my Miata friends
Yeah, or the fluid will ruin your nail-polish for sure, i know...
