Kind of true. .. But looking at pros side , with right studio to animate this anime , we'd have super cool fighting animation and a big plus to Gargoyle animation
He does in this case. He wasn't okay with Girom or Rapunzel killing members of their team. Phantom might be cruel but only to traitors or deserters. The chess pieces killed were all loyal and them getting killed senselessly angered him

That moment, when even the bad guys have morals. Can't blame Phantom for being mad tho. Having members of Chess killed off needlessly like that only makes it much easier for Team MaR to win this match. A foolish oversight on Giromu's part.

If you were to call Giromu a son of a bitch, you would be right on the mark. That's LITERALLY what he is since his mother became abusive to him and Rapunzel after their father died, starving them and whipping them on a daily basis.
This anime is the most "anime" of them all, it is weird but i always think that it was a parody, i mean, you have absolutely all the stereotypes of classic anime in one. The screaming guys, the darkest lord / funny villains, the edgy side character, the cool senseis, the cute girl, the edgy cute girl, the broken/dumb protagonist, the convenient powerups, the bad humor EVERYTHING. Not saying is baad, but it doesn't excell in anything really.
