  • #nebulaphotography #arcticastrophotography #astrophotographyinthecold Astrophotography of the Elephant's trunk nebula from Raktenjávrre in Ultevis Mountain Forest Reserve at 67°N in the Arctic Part of Swedish Lapland. The Elephant's Trunk Nebula is an exciting target in the constellation Cepheus.
    This is probably the most adventurous astrophoto channel on TH-cam! Follow me out to wonderful remote dark locations near the Arctic Circle in Swedish Lapland.
    The polar winter is harsh and extremely cold, but the dark skies are among the best globally, and nature is spectacular. But most of all, this is my home, where I do this wonderful hobby!
    If you like my videos, please subscribe and join me out in the harsh polar night!

      Thank you for watching! I drive a BMW 320D. Not the best car to drive in snow.. but this trip I tried the first 50m of the road, and it was never close to the limit, so I continued. I have good studded tires, and use to have snow chains with me. In worst case I can call some friend, but it has never happened. Yet.. 😀

    Wonderful videos and images! I presume all the reindeer (we call them caribou in Canada) are part of managed herds owned by Saami? I sometimes photograph from Grasslands National Park in Saskatchewan where there are bison roaming, though all within a fenced park. Clear skies!

      Tnank you! Yes, there are no wild reindeer here, they are all owned by Sámi. Jokkmokk is actually one of the centras for the Sámi culture. Would love to visit Canada, it looks very beautiful! Clear skies!

    You really have a disadvantage at guiding having to lower the south leg of the tripod. This and the cold makes everything even more difficult. Combining with nature video makes it very interesting and also the preparation of location, temperatures. Bortle one location must be fantastic. You don’t need any filter, as the asi 2600 has the IR filter built in. You sorted your gear out well for your approach. Looking forward for your next adventure!

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, last year I was close to "throw in the towel", but everything got a lot more easy with the asiair and the EAF. And I have to learn from experience how the gear handle the cold and learn routines for how I run everything! Problem solving gets a lot more tough in the cold! And yes bortle 1 is fantastic. I could shoot more close to the town at bortle 3-4, but I like to get out and for me it's also a nature experience. Maybe it's a new genre.. "adventure astrophotography" :)

    Another great video David...the landscape is absolutely stunning! Quick question, if you drop the south leg of your EQ6 mount (making it not level), doesn't it affect your tracking?

    • @NorthernPanorama
      @NorthernPanorama  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Thank you (again) :) It was a fear I had before I bought the mount. I asked at cloudynight and became calmer, and my experience is that it does not affect. However, I have not really used it south of the arctic circle, so I can not compare.. The total error in phd2 use to vary between 0.7-1.2 and most important; I got round stars. No problem with 5 min subs.
