Hey from Sydney, Australia. Great videos so far mate. I'm really intrigued and can't wait to follow your astro journey in the north, I've subscribed. I also astro with the same camera and really love it, it seems you already do too. I was so jealous when I saw the camera idling at -16 without even needing the cooling on, you're so lucky with that in mind. With 25+ at night here, sometimes it's a struggle to get it below -5 on max, hahaha. And much respect to you for braving the harsh conditions outside, but with a result like your North American Nebula, that would make it so worthwhile. Kudos to you and I look forward to some more vlogs. Cheers.
Thanks mate! It was new moon yesterday and the weather forecast looks promising for the weekend so I plan to go out. A little bit cold right now.. -38°C not far from here, but I hope it will get a little warmer this weekend! There will be an upload next week! Cheers!
I really loved your video! I too also own and use the ASI 2600 MC. I was moaning the other day about going out and shooting here in Maine (-17C). Your video definitely inspired me to get right out there and enjoy the nice cool crisp dark sky night! Really looking forward to your next video. New subscriber.
I'm not a astro photographer but you made it interesting! Nice that you mix with some reindeers, bike talk and then the details about equipment. /Matti
Wow! Nice astrophotography and TH-cam channel production! I have the ZWO ASI2600 MC Pro and luckily found your channel. Looking forward to many more videos. Admiration from class 6 Bortle skys in the suburb of Los Angeles, California, USA.
Thank you! A great camera! There will be more videos. It's very nice to read comments from all of the world. I'm a little bit surprised, but it encourage me to do more videos. :)
Bortle 2.. it's been a long time I haven't seen better than a bortle 4 and routinely have to image from bortle 7/8. The sky must be beautiful there ! Question: why do you have a wifi router with your ASLAIR pro ? It already emits wifi.. but was the signal too weak ?
Very beautiful! There are large areas with bortle 1 near too! The asiair is knowned to have bad wifi signal, but with this I can extend the range to about 40-50 meter!
@@NorthernPanorama I do use a pc stick with the TP-link AC750 to stream on my phone/ipad. I have been wondering about the ASLAIR pro; seems really nice but i do have all the PC software on the pc stick.. albeit a bit slow (solving = 50-90s !). Would you recommend the ASLAIR pro for the integrated user experience ? Anyhow.. Bortle 2, Bortle 1.. I can't begin to imagine how that looks like, especially for the milky way. I imagine you could see Orion, Andromeda and even the Veil nebula to the naked eye.. I believe the best I could get was Bortle 3 far in the Alps a few years ago. Splendid crystal clean view
@@astrodysseus I have tried with a laptop, but it does not work well in the cold. With the asiair pro I can use a tablet and wear gloves almost all the time, and it's a lot easier to power and keep warm during extend shooting in extreme temperatures! For me the asiair pro has made it a lot easier to shoot in cold! Bortle 1 is fantastic when it's new moon and good seeing without haze. You can see a lot of objects - Andromeda is clearly visible and the Milky Way stretches as a clearly white band over the sky. I had also very good sky in the alps a couple of years ago in Grindelwald, but not really as good as a bortle 1 could be.
Alaska would be great to visit some day! Looks awesome! I use (or used.. damn-covid) to the Norwegian coast quite often. It's only a couple of hours to drive. Lovely as you say!
This deserves virtual reality processing so I can live vicariously. Immersive as presented but VR would take it to the next level. Or at least IMAX!! Wonderful. Thank you
Not sure if you can with the asiair pro. I have only used 0 and 100 - 100 is a sweet spot with low read noise and very good DR. For very dynamic objects I have used gain 0, but not sure if I have noticed any big differences.
Cool Arctic astrophotography! Just came across your channel, and clicked subscribe as newbie Arctic astrophotographer up in Tromsø. I guess there was not a lot of auroral activity while you were shooting, or is that not a common "problem" for you shooting astroimages near Jokkmokk? For me I have had to resort to narrowband filters with DSLR to cut through the auroral green and red emission.
Thank you! I use to visit Tromsö quite often actually. At least before the pandemic.. Aurora is quite common here also, I had to quit shooting a couple of times this winter. But when I see that there are aurora activity I use to choose a more southern oriented object.
Hopefully, things can get back to normal again this Autumn. I sometimes go across to Kilpisjarvi, Finland for better 'seeing' and Bortle 2 skies, but have only been able to cross once this winters dark period. Seeing your excellent results with a one-shot colour astrocam is an inspiration, making me reconsider my plans for going the mono-route and filters for dedicated astrocam above the Arctic Circle.
I highly praise you. You're my hero. -20 °C outside, you really love astronomy. I don't have words to describe your incredible work. I gonna follow your chanel from now on. Best wishes from Spain!!!
Hello from Cleveland, ...If I'm not mistaken isn't Superman's Fortress of Solitude around the corner from there? Absolutely beautiful!! You are using practically the exact setup as I use. I was wondering what if any post processing do you do. Keep the adventures coming. Thanks
Have you ever consider a super fast lens... F2.8 or even a Zeiss F2 lens.... that would give incredible wide shot with a lot of data before your batteries get out of power... thanks for share your incredible living place
Yes, in my last videos I use a Tamron f/1.8. However, batterys are not a big deal for astrophotography. The biggest problem is to keep my ordinary camera going when I film these videos. :) Thank you for watchin!
Greetings from Canada. I share the feeling of being out there in the cold. It is much better than being in an area infested with mosquitoes!! Bonus: you don't need to cool the camera!
This is pretty motivational! I mean, the other night I didn't want to set up my gear on the terrace, because it was -8... love the image! What power source are you using?
Thank you for watching Balazs! It's nice to inspire you to get out! :) I use a 73 hA marine battery, it works great and I can run for many hours even in extreme cold. Have not had any issues with it so far. Take a look at my video "Astrophotography at the Arctic Circle", there I describe how I power the gear!
@@NorthernPanorama Härligt. :D För mig blev det en Kina variant med samma sensor och mono. Tog en risk men sparade ca 15tusen på detta så kändes värt :D
Thank you! I use SW evostar 80 ED Ds-pro, 2600MC, EQ6-R pro, Asiair pro. I'm a mac user and do the stacking in astropixelprocessor, and processing in Startools. For this object also Starnet++. Minor adjustments in photoshop!
I will never complain about dragging my gear out into the backyard again. 😆
😀 What could I do else, when living near such great skies! Just get out! Thank you for watching!
🙂
It warms my heart to meet an astrophotographer near the arctic circle. With all my admiration from Oregon, USA.
Thank you! So fun to read comments from people all over the globe! Oregon seems to be wonderful!
Ah, the squeak of cold dry snow! Greetings from Canada 🇨🇦 Envious of your clear skies.
Thank you! Love that sound! Yes, there are great skies quite near! Greetings from Swedish Lapland
Greetings from India.. you need our weather, and we need your bortle 2 skies, pls.. stay warm mate! 😉
Thank you! Yeah, it would be great with some warmth sometimes! :)

Greetings from Kansas city! I love your video. I am waiting for my ASI 2600mm camera. Stay worm.
Thank you for watching! I'm eager to try the mm version too! :)
Wow. This guy is a beast! Clear skies from the desert in Arizona! 🔭
Thanks! Last week I got a bike bag that I ordered from Flagstaff! 😀 Clear skies!
Bortle 1 😱😱 Amazing!
Look at all those stars!!
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you! Yes I feel very privileged to have such great areas in the vicinity! Just a hour drive or so! 😀
It's absolute beauty, your hard work paid off
Thank you! Yes, and it's very rewarding to shoot from such dark places!
Great!
Thank you!
You can sure tell how far north you are. Your OTA is almost pointing straight up. ;o)
😀 Yes it feels that it points straight up in sky. You have to be a gymnast to do a visual polar alignment, so I'm happy to have the asiair 😅
Another awesome video. So envious of your dark skies so close (relatively) to your home (but not quite so envious of your cold temps though 😁).

Astrophotography with Reindeers how cool is that !! Hello from Canada
Hello David! Yes, it's pretty cool! There will be more from Swedish Lapland soon! :)
Your drone shots were magnificent! Showing off the isolation really brings us in. Be careful out there, don't fall asleep!

Yes! :) It's very nice to be able to shoot calibrations frames when I come home and not on location.
