I think to make it deeper, they should have a hard code for saying a single "whew" if they score 2 goals in 30 seconds or something.

Ultrawide needs to reward the bots for double taps into net, and pinches into net.
Imagine seer just ceiling pinching it into the net from anywhere
Supposedly, he should only reward the bots for a goal, and give a penalty for when they get scored on. Everything else is not theoretically correct. The problem is that it self learns so it is not practical to just do this
That would be cool but if you've ever tried to make a Rocket League AI it's not quite that simple
@@aneraxxmusic2343 As Johnny was saying the creator seems to be able to make secondary objectives such as "get a flip reset" so I don't see why he wouldn't be able to with other fairly basic mechanics
@FM1234 you can reward 2 goals for double taps or pinches and train it for a bit to get the model into a hopefully better place area of optimization space, then remove the rewards and train normally until convergence. My thought is that the model might be in bad local min, but training on double taps for a bit can shift it somewhere new
Also, it's not theoretically correct to say that rewarding for a goal and penalizing for getting scored on will lead to the best possible bot. Because of local minimums

This goes to show what a god tier 2v2 team Rezears and IVN are because they 7-3'd the same bots that took KC to game 5 and beat Oxygen
The bots still don't use so many mechanics, they will be completely unstoppable when they figure out wave dash, chain dash, multiple flip resets, etc...

seer is the coolest thing in rocket league in a very hot minute cant wait for more players to go up against it
A note on seer’s proclivity for acquiring flip resets: the same motif was evident in chess engines with its overvaluation of material advantages. Top thinkers couldn’t argue against the play style empirically due to the engines raw power in calculation, but alpha zero evidenced the superiority of human conceptions of best methodology when backed by technique (mechanics in rl terms).
I thought Alpha Zero went quite the other way, often making very counterintuitive moves for long-term positional advantage?
@@thenayancat8802the sacrificial play was counterintuitive to both stockfish and mortals, sure, but the spirit of it was very human.
In early engines, especially, material was very heavily weighted. You would see the engines go to enormous lengths to defend positions with shattered pawn structures against gambit lines. This was the basis of Kasparov’s accusations against IBM of having GM’s working with deep blue after its knight sacrifice in game 6.
Modern engines are much better at understanding the value of activity and initiative of course, but there was major strides made in that after alpha zeros public demolition of stockfish. Apparently with good hardware you can replay those games and stockfish 8 finds a lot of alpha zeros moves pretty quickly
@@thenayancat8802yes, but it basically did so by following "human"-like intuition of the game, unlike classic, purely calculation-based engines. It just so happened to find patterns that humans weren't able to find.

I'm surprised we haven't seen any new mechanics from the bots. Usually these ai training things find ways to exploit the limits of the engine

so johnny there is a way to have ballcam on regardless the players you are pov on you just have to enable the ball cam in the camera setings in the game menue when spectating

These games especially the last one were so intense. The bots actually were trying to keep up with the aerial play and it was kinda insane what the ball was doing. You don't see that in human games lmao. Just the way seer goes for everything correctly is wild. It just needs better recovery, boost priority, and still some demo dodging and its unbeatable. Also my input on the flip resets being so seemingly random, I think that it's actually a genuinely good strat against itself because imagine a bot trying to read a hit and you have a flip, it has to take that into account so I'm sure it has offensive pressure on its own line of thinking with that.

The name change at the end happens in standard and private matches, I've noticed it recently alot more. Not sure what causes it but its RL bugging somewhere, could be the spectate bugging / it seems to happen randomly after replays or sometimes during replays and then it sticks. Saw it watching Squishy live with Justin and someone else in 3s standard

It's interesting how people always think that any evolution related to AI is an exponential growth. Like Jhonny thinks that the boot will be able to hit everything perfect in short term just because it improved a lot over the last years.
Well that's not true, one important lesson that you guys need to learn is that doesn't matter how good the bot improved in the last month, nothing can prove it will improve the same amount in the next month. That's a reality when you apply statistics in the real world. Maybe to be able to do simple double reset and goals it may take 3 years or even more. Maybe not.

the bots' synergy and passing plays were much weaker here than in the KC series. i wonder if the demo-avoidance behaviour means it doesn't take as many risks. it might perform overall better because it's not vulnerable to demos, but its passing plays are much less dangerous.
I don’t think AI will ever need to master flashy triple tap double resets, just like in chess the simplest solution is often the most boring. Humans cling to the idea of flash because of our desire to be more than we are not. AI doesn’t have this issue.
