This is going to be the biggest project I've ever worked on.. and I hope I can make it amazing for you to be a part of. HUGE THANKS to Lynxi for the ending cinematic, he's a master. Also, if this video got a like for every hour I've put on Rocket League... wait that's actually a lot.
My thoughts exactly… rank rocketed once I could keep up mechanically. I was always a “rotation” dude with a passive 2nd/3rd man play-style. I still stick to the defensive, because you know… teammates… but I do rack up insane points from saves and those moments where I absolutely dust the opposition from a break away.
@@Mediocre_Music yh, dropped from C3 on 1s but I was los C2 on 2s after placements, played a bit and won every Game. Im playing last season Gc2s to some SSLs and when I play 2s Im just faster so I chase
As an SSL player myself, I would say I probably spend around the same amount of time if not more time in freeplay rather than actual matches. It helps a lot for just becoming consistent and practicing awkward situations by just chasing the ball around. You can improve really fast by just going in freeplay whenever you aren’t in game. Make sure you spend enough time training and don’t just queue games whenever you can if you wanna actually get better at the game. It will take time and it’s important for improvement. Hope this helps whoever reads this and good luck with the grind 👍
I saw a guy say you should get points for coaching instead of paying, but I think a more effective thing would be 500 point payment, and at the end of the session, if the coach is happy, you get a 1000 back, but if not, you get 0 back
I thought that too, but I reckon maybe the first coaching is free, but then forcing you to actually practice what you have been told to see them again instead of just getting a get out of jail free card is important. It is supposed to be on cbell. He needs to work.
You should add an option where you provide a game you played and receive a professional analysis on the game of where and when you should have done something different, I think this will help you improve your game sense. Another cool idea would be an option where you could see transparent clips of pros hitting good mechanical shots and you trying to replicate them until you actually hit them, this way you would be able to get up to the standards of SSL players. Also, good luck on the journey!
Perhaps introducing a scoring system that rewards you for executing the specific techniques the training packs have in mind it could enhance the gameplay experience. For instance, successfully executing a double tap could earn additional points, as could accurately hitting a designated spot on the wall with the first touch and achieving precise placement in the goal. This approach prioritizes skill mastery over simply completing tasks within a set timeframe like you get 1000 point pr. 33 minutes at the moment. Furthermore, incentivizing you to learn new mechanics could significantly enhance your skill development. From personal experience, I've found that mastering seemingly useless mechanics for my rank like air dribbling, at a lower rank (gold), can greatly improve overall car control and proficiency. Implementing a system where you earn points or rewards for mastering new mechanics encourages exploration and growth, fostering a more dynamic and rewarding learning environment. Additionally, incorporating achievements or timed challenges within workshop maps could further enrich the gameplay experience. Emphasizing speed and efficiency in executing aerial maneuvers, for instance, could be more rewarding than solely focusing on aesthetic aspects, like spinning or make is so you have to only use air roll right. Also make it show you get points for watching pros play, because rocket league is not just about mechanics but how effect you use them and how easy you make it for yourself. Please lower cost for 1's, must useful game mode for consentience. Edit: Points for analyzing your own games, from for example birds eyes view.
If you do specific touches on the ball, you could include that for defence too. I'm not sure exactly how you'd measure, maybe making saves with less boost or no boost, the exit speed away from the goal, how far into the goal it was before you saved it. I'd help defenders like me too.
I think rewarding your wins with points will be detrimental in the long run. If you encounter people who have similar skills to yours, you'll probably start playing it safe instead of taking risks (by risks, I mean trying things you're not 100% comfortable with). When I was grinding, all I ever heard from coaches was that I needed to play focused on what I wanted to improve, looser, and faster than I usually play.
I got into rocket league in 2022, and I think this is like the first video I happened to passively see that wasn't just me feeling like the rocket league community is over, everything is dead, watched a video from Rizzo about how RL has been abandoned recently I just didn't know how to feel about this game. And like MAN it's REALLY NICE to just see some of the content creators just working on playing the game still and what not and having faith it FEELS LIKE from my perspective as someone so new to all of this community and being afraid to really expand deeper and really give it my all for a while but just getting back to trying to get my fundamentals down and still struggling with what most would consider basic mechanics after a thousand hours (my current time in the game) I like to look up videos on how to begin learning mechanics of the game but YT Algorithm and how it works with me being an seo professional of over a decade, I keep running into the issue of seeing all the negativity and me being afraid that "This new game that I want to experience the joys of failure" is now a game where I'm just not sure if it's going to be alive long enough for me to get fulfilment out of my time investment into the game with wanting to be decent at the game in general. I think seeing this specific video from specifically you CBell has single handedly restored my faith in the future of what I wanna do with my time in rocket league so I guess thank you for doing what you do and putting the time, effort, patience and faith in something that you want to continue with.
Man.. I am so happy that you are here and wrote this! This is exactly what I was hoping to accomplish with this big goal. Rocket league is a beautiful game and I truly want to reach SSL and if that inspires people along the way, perfect. I agree, RL has been negative for some time now, but this series is one I've been aiming to take on for a long time now, so buckle in :)
My advice is to stop playing casual at all, just act like ranked is the only queue there is, so when you play jumping into ranked will just be automatic.
Honestly the MMR matchups in Casual are insane sometimes. I’m high plat/low diamond currently and sometimes I’ll get matched with high champ or GC lol I’ll play a round or two of casual as a warmup after warming up in training then queue up in ranked. More often than not Ranked feels more balanced than Casual. At the end of the day, it’s only a video game and I’m 99% certain your livelihood does not depend on your performance in ranked RL, so just run it up and play :)
I've been watching your videos here and there but this one in particular had me invested and earned my subscription. Can't wait to see how much better you can get!
Love this video, and series idea!! I just hope you will share the mod eventually for those of us that want to use it to improve as well! I do think that the cost for a 1's game should be lower than the rest though since it helps you improve your overall gameplay way more than just queueing 2's and 3's though. Other than that, I can't wait for the next episode!
He mentioned in a community post that they're still working on stuff in the background. Things are a lot tougher with how all the ranks got compressed in the past couple seasons, so he's finding it hard making progress videos when, despite Emmie's improvements, her rank isn't actually improving faster than the speed of rank compression. With how hard it is to reach GC in general, it's put the series somewhat on hiatus until things calm down, but there's still plans to move forward. I've followed some of her streams recently, and mechanically she has been improving!
this is genuinely such a sick idea, I feel like I haven't seen an RL video this neat in a long ass time also, Lynxi did sooo great on those visuals at the end!!
I think you should try implementing some of Wayton recommendations to rank up and improve. One that would be really useful is to make 1vs1 free or have a lower cost so that you can use them as a training and a warmup after doing so much training and get used to playing the game, I think Wayton recommends playing it just to practice mechanics even if you lose, and also it would be helpful to play some gamemode after the training before queueing ranked as you need to adapt to play the game again and not have the training brain in you when starting to play
As a GC3 one of the things I think would really boost your rank is working on boost pad routes. It seems like you are a little slow grabbing the small pads and often have to turn off ball cam to do them. Hopefully, that helps ya :)
Definitely should reward yourself for individual performance. Saves, assists, goals, MVP's, demos. If you wanted to fine tune them, you could weigh them differently in an approach to emphasize some over others. If you want to work on defense, a 1.25x-1.5x multiplier on saves and savior. Demos and assists if you want to focus on more team play. Goals and hattricks to focus more on bettering your attack.
This reminds me a lot of settled's Runescape series, and I absolutely love it! Carry on with this. The ability something like this has to make a SINGLE ranked game of RL feel so special is amazing, and so much fun to experience together with you. If you haven't watched it, go watch settled's different Runescape series (for example the tile challenge series), and I truly hope you see what I mean about the resemblance. If you can capture some of the same expectation, reward, and high stakes feeling in this series, that would be awesome
@@CBellRLOkay, that makes me very excited. Hell yeah, good luck on this series, can't wait! And that said, for me, you captured that feeling perfectly in this video already

The most naive implementation would be a simple toggle option to activate it, or you could rank packs by priority/importance for your specific lacks/weaknesses, and gain bonuses from prioritising optimal trining time

You mentioned after the first day that sleep helped you improve and nail down that movement. ive noticed that in rocket league but also in life weather it be a part im learning on guitar or my Spanish class, for some reason deep sleep helps that. (for the smarter people that see this, yes i know theres a study somewhere showing that but im to lazy to find it.)
When you sleep your brain analyzes everything you did on a day, starting at the thing you did most recently. So if u went to bed right after that pack your brain analyses how it went and how to improve it, thats why u became better
Hey CBell I saw ur videos come up on my recommended and came back to rocket league because of them. I really enjoy ur content and noticed u have helped a lot of players get better at rl in the past. I've been hard stuck plat for months and hope u could help me get to champ
this would be such a cool training mode in RL itself. like have a separate tab called something like "training season" where you can only play ranked after completing a training pack.
I saw a comment saying lower the 1s points to force yourself to play more and I completely agree you’re lacking a lot of defense which will help you improve massively since you have no one to rely on but yourself.
12:32 if you go up the wall the hitbox collides a tiny bit with the corner and the quick upwards momentum direction change also slows you down. You went from 100% supersonic to 60-70% on the way to there
I managed to reach gc in about 500 hours from scratch ( even though it isn't ssl) but I would say to absolutely perfect your car control you should do lots of ring maps and dribble maps, since they force you to not make mistakes in tight areas, that way, when your in a comp match you will have it built into u so your muscle memory will win the games for you 👍
I usually dont comment on videos but i think this is a great idea for a challenge/series, i have much faith and im very interested in how this series pans out!!
Hit GC for the first time a couple months ago with around 650 hours, and have kinda stopped playing since then, this makes me wanna play again and keep grinding, especially considering how fast ive ranked up through my hours, earned urself a sub my man, you got this.
I think the cost to queue ranked could reflect on your winrate overall. If you are below 50% then it would end up costing extra allowing you to get extra training time. Once all the time pays off it would also be cheaper to keep queuing once your winrate goes up, I could see how that is bad to balance with the winstreak refund thing though.
i feel like showing your shortcomings on defense would better help this series rather than the several times your offense worked out, not a jab at your overall play, but if your defense is what needs work, that should be shown
This is amazing, I feel like it could be tweaked and then also used as an anti rage derank plugin. Like you gain 1000 points for a win so it rewards you for winning when you’re playing well, so you go back to training after a few losses, lmao I commented before watching
You have to get a bonus for replay reviews! Not only your own but also reviewing SSL/higher-than-your-rank replays :) You’re smart enough to coach yourself so I think you have to put in some incentive for the analyses!
Maybe add an option to play some games with your coach as well. I like what 1 guy said about lowering the points for 1's to like 500. Also maybe give a free game of the extras modes: rumble dropshot hoops You could also maybe work alongside some RL coaches to get their discord info loaded into this mod as well for other players that would want to contact coaches(this one i dont see being as plausible but i thought it could be interesting)
For your defense, you should work on shadow defense, particularly when the balls in the air (for example its above you or infront and its about to hit the wall above your goal) work on intercepting the ball before the opponents can get it
For 8k you should get a option called a pro coach basically the coaches that teach pros and they can teach you the routine of the pros and that would help a lot
This series may take years, the difference between where you are now (1400) and SSL(1880) is the biggest jump in skill in the entire game. The moment you get to 1750 the game becomes extremely mechanical, fast, and harder in general and it takes some players YEARS to go from 1700-1800
practice hours can only do so much if you cant apply it to gameplay while trying to make good decisions/pos 2s and 1s is training imo and 6mans or 3v3 scrims is also training with your team. Im still yet to finish the vid but this is my assumption from personal experience This sort of plan is really good tho as long as someone can manage it well, good way to force yourself to train in fp or packs if you struggle at that (its very common)

A powerup: i have litterly no idea! "1000 points"
Hell yeah CBell! I know you got this. Looking forward to this series.
this would be such a cool training mode in RL itself. like have a separate tab called something like "training season" where you can only play ranked after completing a training pack.
I saw a comment saying lower the 1s points to force yourself to play more and I completely agree you’re lacking a lot of defense which will help you improve massively since you have no one to rely on but yourself.
W series I’m excited pls keep uploading yhis
If you put so much effort into the series it will be for me number one
GREAT idea for a series! I think that after 12k hours of playing it's necessary to gamify the game again
Will look forward for the next episodes :}
Thanks for being such a great creator Cbell. Love watching your videos
♥😄
Great is the art of beginning, but greater is the art of ending.
Serious osrs vibes with this plugin. It’s like a new game mode. Love it haha. You are rocket leagues settled.
12:32 if you go up the wall the hitbox collides a tiny bit with the corner and the quick upwards momentum direction change also slows you down. You went from 100% supersonic to 60-70% on the way to there
this concept is insanely cool for a series, will be fun to see how quickly someone with 12k hours will improve
One of the power ups should be a VOD review, unless that goes under the coaching thing, it would be around 5-75k points.
I managed to reach gc in about 500 hours from scratch ( even though it isn't ssl) but I would say to absolutely perfect your car control you should do lots of ring maps and dribble maps, since they force you to not make mistakes in tight areas, that way, when your in a comp match you will have it built into u so your muscle memory will win the games for you 👍
Ngl insane edit at the end lol. Great vid as always though CBell!
Been loving the channel since the odd man out rank vids !
650 hours and GC? Did you do a lot of training? Or do I just suck 😂 700 hours and stuck at D3
Ain’t no way you hit gc with 650 hours ur lying
@@mrchickenball260 not hard so did I. I just played an insane amount in a short amount of time
I think the cost to queue ranked could reflect on your winrate overall. If you are below 50% then it would end up costing extra allowing you to get extra training time. Once all the time pays off it would also be cheaper to keep queuing once your winrate goes up, I could see how that is bad to balance with the winstreak refund thing though.
This Was A Great Video!
what an outro, thats the one thing i loved in that video
This is such a cool video idea hahaha
Love it 🔥🙌
Yooooo this series is gonna be sick
i feel like showing your shortcomings on defense would better help this series rather than the several times your offense worked out, not a jab at your overall play, but if your defense is what needs work, that should be shown
I'm here for the ride to SSL 🔥 Even though I never played but, really enjoy the chill vibes 🙂✨
I love this. I’m loving your mindset. Hope you get it
This is amazing, I feel like it could be tweaked and then also used as an anti rage derank plugin. Like you gain 1000 points for a win so it rewards you for winning when you’re playing well, so you go back to training after a few losses, lmao I commented before watching
Love to see people struggle with rl as much as I do :)
my official prediction is you will peak at GC3 Div1, get stuck in GC2, and give up on SSL
Idea for punishment - Punish ballcam use above 20 seconds each match, pros use ballcam extremely heavily, and never turn it off to get pads.
You have to get a bonus for replay reviews! Not only your own but also reviewing SSL/higher-than-your-rank replays :)
You’re smart enough to coach yourself so I think you have to put in some incentive for the analyses!
Work out before you play. Helps with focus and mental calm.
Maybe add an option to play some games with your coach as well.
I like what 1 guy said about lowering the points for 1's to like 500.
Also maybe give a free game of the extras modes: rumble dropshot hoops
You could also maybe work alongside some RL coaches to get their discord info loaded into this mod as well for other players that would want to contact coaches(this one i dont see being as plausible but i thought it could be interesting)
For your defense, you should work on shadow defense, particularly when the balls in the air (for example its above you or infront and its about to hit the wall above your goal) work on intercepting the ball before the opponents can get it
cbell in sll is actually terrifying to think about
You should do more workshop maps, and try e challenge ones too. Like the hardest dribbling course, or just workshop maps to begin with.
For 8k you should get a option called a pro coach basically the coaches that teach pros and they can teach you the routine of the pros and that would help a lot
This series may take years, the difference between where you are now (1400) and SSL(1880) is the biggest jump in skill in the entire game. The moment you get to 1750 the game becomes extremely mechanical, fast, and harder in general and it takes some players YEARS to go from 1700-1800
This is gonna be sooo good i cant wait for other episodes :)
practice hours can only do so much if you cant apply it to gameplay while trying to make good decisions/pos
2s and 1s is training imo and 6mans or 3v3 scrims is also training with your team.
Im still yet to finish the vid but this is my assumption from personal experience
This sort of plan is really good tho as long as someone can manage it well, good way to force yourself to train in fp or packs if you struggle at that (its very common)
