Welcome aboard one of the greatest adventure in fiction!👒 The first 50 or so episodes you see the one piece world through the eyes of Luffy and after that Luffy´s view and understanding of the world gets expanded as does ours. It´s magnificent world building, enjoy!

This show has the best world building in fiction and many great moments, but know that imagination and freedom take precedence over set rules and reason. Also, the pace is pretty dang slow at times
The most important tip for watching One Piece: DO NOT READ THE TITLEs BECUASE THEY WILL 100% SPOIL THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF THE EPISODE.
I love your immediate enjoyment of the fun vibes of the show. It's never afraid to get wacky or deep. I also love how intrigued you are by Luffy right off the bat. He's my favorite character in One Piece by far. I think people have a lot of assumptions as to what he'll be like before they get into the show and I adore how often he surprises people right from the jump. Luffy speaks his mind freely and will throw a punch when it's needed. And though he says that mean stuff to Coby, it's obvious he likes him. He just isn't afraid to point out things he doesn't like about people. And comedic hitting for when people get on your nerves is a running gag in anime and very much in One Piece. Basically, Luffy was annoyed that Coby kept doubting him and his dream/abilities, so he'd really like to teach Coby to shut up on that kind of talk. Like, he wants to hang out with him, but not if he keeps doing that. (Note, I definitely love Coby, too~)
I would say it is accurate to call Luffy very smart, very stupid, free-spirited, uncaring, very caring, and super confident. Things are quite simple for him. Either he likes you or he doesn't. Either he cares or he doesn't. And the best descriptor I've ever heard for him is that he's a force of nature. He almost has an easy-going aura of casually expecting the laws of the universe to bend to his whims.
Also, sailing a full ship by yourself would be pretty impossible. Maybe a good sailor could figure something out with just two people, but Luffy is not a good sailor. XD And I doubt the enemy pirates would be too keen to help or not fight against being stranded at sea/captured by the marines. A small ship is more manageable. And if bad weather ruins their little boat, Luffy's got another barrel onboard. ;D Also, honestly laughing at the idea of Luffy stuffing himself inside a barrel again and Coby hanging onto the outside for dear life during a storm! XD

When i showed to my friend this first episode and saw Zoro in the end: "PUT THE DAMN 2ND EPISODE NOW!!" XD

Been following this for 20+ years, nearly my entire life, but only watched the anime when it was on 4kids and read the rest. Only recently started seeing the rest of the anime vicariously through reactors because you can't pay me to slog through it but it's fun seeing people experience it for the first time

One Piece in Anime mode started in 1999, different from the Manga which started from 1997 and One Piece is very interesting because it often discusses Politics, Human Trafficking, Corruption, Genocide, Racism, Black Markets, Unethical Human Experiments, Political Marriage, Human Slavery, Environmental Issues, Pandemics, Drugs, Absolute Government Power, World History Hidden By World Governments. So if people see One Piece without watching, they'll think that it's just an ordinary kid's anime 😉

It's more like Big 1 - One Piece, and the Other 2 - Bleach and Naruto.

You should watch 2-4 episodes per video. The anime pacing can be...hard compared to the manga.
The first half is pretty good but the second half of the anime's pacing is indeed terrible.
@@honkworld9405 simply because the studios constantly gets close to running out of source material to animate so they have to slow down to avoid introducing a random filler arc (which is something that ruined both naruto and bleach making them almost unwatchable)

I'd advise not reading the titles because of spoilers, and to give it to episode 40-ish if you're still not sure about it. By that time most decide if they're in for the long run or not.

I am currently on episode 899, but have been watching One Piece for years. Im just going slow so that I don't catch up to the anime again. And it is honestly crazy how far everyone and everything has come. You guys have no idea what kind of journey you guys will be taking. But hopefully, one you will enjoy.
Some find One Piece kind of slow at the start, so normally I recommend watching up to ep 45 before deciding if it's for you or not. Some love it from the start, but many truly fall in love and understand One Piece around the 45-episode mark. Some need even longer before falling in love, but if you still do not have any interest in One Piece by that point(45) then it's usually not for you.
But either way, One Piece only builds and builds, and it will truly be a journey worth enjoying.
One thing for sure, if anyone watch the first 100 episode or read the first 100 chapter, they will 100% love One Piece

meh, those spikes on her club werent exactly sharp, not like that of a blade. in any case, Luffy isnt invincible, but he is especially durable. blades, fire and explosions can all hurt/damage him but just like anyone else he can also drown. just putting that out there to make that clear.

Well, Luffy is kind of a goofy idiot as far as his personality goes. The only things Luffy is good at are punching things with his powers, and (surprisingly) being emotionally mature. That last quality is lacking in most Shonen protagonists.
I wouldn't call luffy smart, but he is creative. Luffy is made of rubber but sharp objects do hurt him like normal, as for tue reason why the club and swords didn't work on him i don't know

I was honestly hoping it would be the dub. I wish more people would watch the One Piece dub (among others), since it's got good voice actors and it's a lot easier to oay attention to a show when you don't have to read what everyone's saying.

The dub is mid, with very few VA's that are on the same level as the sub (Robin), as well as MANY voices that do NOT fit the character (Luffy, Zoro, Sanji, Franky) and sound so fucking cringe

@@Bardic_Knowledge it's not though, Sanji is supposed to be a gentleman, the dub sounds closer to a Zoro than Sanji, and while Luffy is 'childish' he is VERY emotionally intelligent, not a fucking child like his Dub VA

Disappointed you guys are starting out doing episodes of some of the longest running anime available. With how new you are you should have chosen some shorter ones. Especially doing naruto and one piece at the same time is just insane. You will take forever and not have time for all of the better short running seasonal anime. One piece and naruto aren't bad and they can definitely be enjoyable to watch and have a fanbase but you guys picking naruto and one piece to start is making me hesitate to join the patreon....

One piece "isn't bad"? It's one of the greatest stories ever told. You're just holding yourself back by not consuming it. One piece should be the highest priority over anything at this point. Naruto is just a mid tier battle anime for kids in comparison..
