I love these videos so much. This has got to be one of my favorite videos from the series. All of these songs looks like a lot of fun to play, especially 'I Thought About You' There's something about the bit after the first trill that seems so fun.

All of these videos are killer! If you haven't heard it before, Buddy Rich's recording of Wave has a great trombone soli

Thanks so much for doing one of my suggestions! Another great one by the Stan Kenton Orchestra is their version of "Laura", has a really beautiful trombone soli in there! Amazing work as always

    Nice.
3:10 gave me 'Just Friends - Bill Holman bigband arrangement' vibes.

Oh for sure! Have you seen his funny tiger rag video? It’s sad that that’s his most popular video, but it’s so good despite of the comedic portion of it

Thanks for all these. This is great stuff, eye-popping and fascinating for an ex-trombonist like myself. These players and writers were and are SO good. Here's a few suggestions with great trombone section passages - Thad Jones' Tiptoe; Stan Kenton's Concerto to End All Concertos.; Hank Levy's A Step Beyond, and Willie Maiden's No Harmful Slide Effects. The last 2 were also played by the Stan Kenton Orchestra.

Wow thank you John! Amazing suggestions, will be sure to feature some of these in upcoming episodes.

Tip toe by Thad Jones would be perfect for this!

I don’t know if you’re still taking music requests anymore but could you do “A Precious Love” for trombone. Dave Steinmeyer plays it

Anyone know the bone section of the US army blues jazz ensemble??

    • @jed_mp3
      @jed_mp3  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

1st Bone: Sgt. 1st Class Matt Niess
2nd Bone: Staff Sgt. Harry Watters
3rd Bone: Master Sgt. Bill Holmes
Bass Bone: Sgt. 1st Class Jeff Cortazzo

Hey Jed, the trombone section is actually in the wrong order. The order would be Matt Niess on lead, I believe Harry Watters on 2nd and Holmes and 3rd, and Jeff Cortazzo on bass. I've studied and worked with Matt Niess and Jeff Cortazzo a lot over the last few years, and those guys are beasts!

There's another good one from Teddy the Toad at around 1:17 from Count Basie's Atomic Basie Album.

Love these videos! I’ve got a few trombone moments that I’d love to see in another video if you think they’re appropriate:
    - The soli at 3:02 in Steven Feifke’s arrangement of “I’ve Got the World On a String” (th-cam.com/video/sqG8doMW2pA/w-d-xo.html)
    - The soli bits in Sammy Nestico’s “The Four Of Us” starting at 0:10 and 3:35 (th-cam.com/video/KNJPm3NeD1M/w-d-xo.html)
    - The whole of John Clayton’s arrangement of “On the Sunny Side of the Street” is really a trombone moment (th-cam.com/video/gxu2jzC7GI4/w-d-xo.html)
    - 0:03, 0:55, and 4:30 in Chris Crenshaw’s “Just a-Slidin’” (th-cam.com/video/ScescLcW7cE/w-d-xo.html)
Looking forward to the next one regardless of if any of these go in!
