I’m not a saxophon-ist?, musician, or even artistic but you're so likable and entertaining and this sax bromance hype one another thing is the most heartwarming thing I've seen all month.
Agree👍 On occasions during my brief practice-sessions, I do discover different fingerings for the same altissimo note; it's sometimes by accident - courtesy of Jamie, an expert saxist as well as an honest and skillful motivator who encourages meaningful experimentation. How I do ❤️ all of Nathan's videos! Let's 👍 up Nathan on his Masters Achievement!
Glad to hear about the course. The one thing keeping me from learning how to actually improvise (as opposed to pressing keys and hoping it sounds good) is because I've never learned HOW to practice improv. You'll get a different answer from anyone you ask. Edit: Oh. It's $497. 😐
Both you and Pollack are so original and funny, and both such phenomenal players! A saxophone player giving a breakdown of the odd-ball humor of another saxophone player only happens, well, not often!
5:50-6:12 I still don’t sound that good and my inner monologue as I play sounds like the cheer from the crowd. No joke! 😅 When Dave threw that tenor I was hooked!
Howdy! Your favorite sax student here..... I made it to Incredible morning." Great video and great lesson offer........... can't wait to catch up soon. BTW, yes that harness scratched my sax, mostly the clear coat, but yes it does scratch, even with the fancy sock I made. I also use the Boston Sax harness. It's great.
Your thumbnails are fine, no need to be worried. Still waiting on that classical snob vs jazz snob crossover. I wonder if you'll record yourself twice and do a dual thing, or just have a friend play the second snob part.
“I wish I had that when I was in high school” It’s true, but holy moly do I hear people say this SO MUCH 😂😭. It’s kind of like how at family gatherings there is always that one person who says “man kids grow up so fast!” 😂 Great video though 🧵🎖👁️🥽💛
Hey man big fan of your videos ever since I was a junior in high school (graduated in 2019). Was wondering if you were ever gonna make reaction videos to high school jazz bands for instance in SC Wando High School
I’m not even going to lie, when you reacted to yourself at the jazz audition thing, you didn’t even sound that bad. It was pretty good. You had a good sound, and you played altissimo pretty well too. 👍
Just a tip please don’t play sax when your ill because you can just catch it again from using the same mouthpiece(so use you’re sick mouthpiece when your sick)
I really like this video☺🙏🔥💥🔥 as a saxophonist of over 20 years, I can honestly say that I've never really been a fan of all the dissonance in jazz although some of it can teach you a lot!!☺ I've always preferred music from Kenny G or Dave Koz or the like because I admire the vibrato, the passion, and the overall quality of the playing.☺ to me music is More Than Just spewing random notes, but about beauty, passion, quality, dexterity and sometimes Beauty is found in simplicity not in complexity. Anyway I'm learning a lot from your channel and thank you for sharing !! ☺I love your great sense of humor and you are sounding really brilliant on that saxophone!! 🌞☀🌞☺ Much much Love❤🎆🎇🎆
Prolly won’t read this but I seen you have have normal jazz labs shoulder strap I use the jazz labs pro and it dose not scratch my alto or my tenor you might wanna try that one
Noooo....! I missed it! Here it is the week before thanksgiving and I just now watched this vid and missed getting this course.. T_T;; Sad Sax learner is Sad... But on the plus side, I'll check out his channel (read as 'Stalk him') and get what I hope to be a ton of new inspiration..!
@Saxologic I would rather fall into a trench. A trench is a long, narrow ditch. Since the main purpose of trenches in the military is to protect soldiers from shrapnel and bullets, they are not usually very deep. A trench might be around 8 feet deep. An abyss on the other hand is a deep or seemingly bottomless chasm. If I were to fall into a bottomless chasm, I would fall forever, and die of thirst. If the chasm was only seemingly bottomless, it would have to be deep enough for the bottom to not be visible. If I fell into this, I would die from the impact of hitting the bottom. If I were to fall into a trench, I could easily land upright on my feet. Also since trenches are narrow, I could extend my hands and use the walls of the trench to slow my fall, and even slowly lower myself to the bottom. If the trench were oceanic, I wouldn't even fall down into it, I could just swim up to the surface. So I would rather fall into a trench.
For some reason I thought Dave and Scott Paddock we're the same person so I didn't click his videos. It was only when Jamie put out his Caravan video that I realized they were different people. Ok maybe my eye sight isn't that great, but they have very different sounds.
Hey Saxologic i'm a really big fan and i'm looking for some advice. I'm a senior in high school and I wanna make playing saxophone my career and life. I am almost completely self taught besides youtube videos. My school band is very, very, very bad and after going to 3 honors band events I have learned that my band director is a nice guy but not a good band director. I was wondering how do I get good in a band where i'm one of the 3 people taking it seriously. Please not that this is my second year in high school because i'm home schooled (I joined half way though last school year) and lastly I spent alot of time working because of my family is not the most well off. Thank you for reading this if you do you are my favorite youtuber!! :)
I was wondering if you could review the BetterSax Alto Sax? I’d love to get some more opinions on it so I can see for myself if I should buy it. Love the videos!
Is there a collection of fun opening licks out there like Andrew Gould's opening line on cherokee in Chad LBs virtual band? Maybe you could make one for us :)
This is an amazing video. Please correct me if I am wrong and I realise there are many different ways of teaching/learning/playing an instrument, but isn't the first thing you learn when you are learning the saxophone is to not puff your cheeks out? (7:00)
Wow - I am incredibly honored that you made this!! Thank you so much for this and for everything you do for the saxophone community!
You're the man!!
That’s crazy I was actually @Dave Pollack like 30th subscriber
I love you, Ryan Reynolds
Y’all are both gangster as hell!
Love you bro!

Dave is def a beast and his "Smooth Jazz" stuff is hialrious!
thank you!
I remember watching the smooth jazz series when I was younger and thinking it was hilarious, the first episode definitely caught me by surprise!
Austin Zhang's tenor audition was insane to me back then!! And still now
If you can, PLEASE post more often. Your videos are amazing. I need more.
7:45 "There's a million fingers for altissimo notes" To truly expand your RANGE, you have to invent, YOUR OWN FINGERINGS! *OPEN YOUR THIRD EYE!*

Wow! My mind has been blown! Big congrats on your subscriber numbers, though.
I’m a long-time Pollack enjoyer as well! I got so excited until I realized I can very much not afford the course pack 😓

An incredibly insightful answer. My neurons have been equipped with the nutrition of knowledge. Thank you for your service, brother Bhatt.
My heart stopped when I saw him throw that Conn Tenor in the first video
why? it's an inferior instrument to the soprano
@@DavePollack Me personally I think the Bass is better, less screeching and alot more Testosterone

Doesn't really matter, they mean don't puff out your cheeks like dizzy Gillespie. It's very minimal and if it mattered that much you would hear it.
