i dont think you can use that road unless youve read google maps for 5 min in advance, worn to bits and seems to rely on people guessing what goes where. 2 turn lanes, 1 straight/turn lane, no signs and 5 lanes splitting from 3 and no names of the roads on any of the lanes apart from turning back onto the bridge. its solid example of how not to make a a road. roundabout if you go straight up the hill is shit too, no one indicates since its assumed everyone turns right and you pull out of people if your coming from the other way
it's definitely a confusing road but there's still time coming from any other direction to get into a better lane than the one Darren was in, leaving it very late to try to get across three lanes.

In the clip that starts at 8:15, whilst undertaking is clearly dangerous, the lorry driver is clearly massively frustrated by the camera car hogging the middle lane in contravention of the Highway Code. Middle lane hoggers effectively turn our motorways into dual carriageways.

@@Zoe_t1 That is quite literally the opposite of how these junctions work. The people on the motorway have priority and are supposed to just maintain their speed and lane. The people joining must then either speed up or slow down to join the flow of traffic already on the motorway. The joining car in this case merged perfectly, and the muppet with the camera for no reason whatsoever started to close the gap after the merge was complete.

Quite, allowing the gap to close when a car had already matched speed and was merging. Just back off the throttle a bit. This is a big problem on parts of the A34 near Oxford where the slip roads are often very short and there's no hard shoulder to bail out to if some driver on the left hand lane is acting like a pratt and allowing a gap.

I used to go through there every day for about 18 months, cyclists are not allowed on the roadway, mandatory blue signs at both ends tell cyclists to dismount and use the pedestrian pathway.

On that road about a minute further in the direction the cam car was going there is a roundabout where the lorry should have turned around without blocking the road. I assume he has a Sat Nav or at least Google Maps on his phone, wouldn't have taken many brain cells to check before making his life difficult with that U Turn.
Looks to me to be a layby, if this is the case then HGV should not be attempting to use it to change direction. I drive HGVs myself and I would never do this.
if southwestern trains wasn't so f-ing greedy people wouldn't jump those gates. there are three sets in that area, i am fairly certain they operate at the same time, they can be down for 10 minute up for 30 seconds down for 10 minutes. don't worry there are cameras on those gates that you cannot see in the video. when HS2 is complete they were saying the gates will be down 45 minutes of every hour and the government will not build a bridge or tunnel.

All Colm M had to do was ease off as the lorry already committed to coming out, and if you understand we carnt go at a million hours an hour when we set off. If you look back at the footage, he must be at least 88yards (Assuming it’s a 60mph road & Colm M was doing that or less) until Colm M had to brake at that point the lorry was halfway over to the other carriageway. Ease off the accelerator which could delay your arrival time by 1 second, but no some car drivers are so impatient. Not really. If he was travelling at 60mph, from him saying "don't" to the lorry being clear was about 4 seconds... No way is that 600 yards, not a chance. 60 mph is about 27 meters per second, so this guy could be an absolute maximum of 150 meters away (even adding a load for my napkin maths). And it looks a lot closer than that in any case...

It seems to me that the driver who'd been overtaken had done something to aggravate the (admittedly dangerous) overtaker. Flashed lights? Horn? "Hand signals"? Who knows. Totally agree, although the 2 lane bit after Peterborough up to Grantham is even worse when people don't realise they can pull back in after they have over taken a lorry or caravan.

You should always drive in the left most lane unless you are overtaking. Once the overtake is complete you should pull back in. You should have either been in the middle or inner lane not lane three. Have a look on google maps and you'll see. i dont think you can use that road unless youve read google maps for 5 min in advance, worn to bits and seems to rely on people guessing what goes where. 2 turn lanes, 1 straight/turn lane, no signs and 5 lanes splitting from 3 and no names of the roads on any of the lanes apart from turning back onto the bridge.

@@Zoe_t1 That is quite literally the opposite of how these junctions work. The people on the motorway have priority and are supposed to just maintain their speed and lane. The people joining must then either speed up or slow down to join the flow of traffic already on the motorway. The joining car in this case merged perfectly, and the muppet with the camera for no reason whatsoever started to close the gap after the merge was complete.

Quite, allowing the gap to close when a car had already matched speed and was merging. Just back off the throttle a bit. This is a big problem on parts of the A34 near Oxford where the slip roads are often very short and there's no hard shoulder to bail out to if some driver on the left hand lane is acting like a pratt and allowing a gap.

Filter lights like that don't allow for the speed of a slower vehicle, be it bike or lorry etc. Set near me over a railway line I have gone through on green and seen it go amber after I crossed and not 5 seconds later, before I have finished crossing the bridge, other side has a green light. It's the same with long roadworks, you might as well hop on the pavement if light goes amber once you're through as you won't have time to cross

I used to go through there every day for about 18 months, cyclists are not allowed on the roadway, mandatory blue signs at both ends tell cyclists to dismount and use the pedestrian pathway.

On that road about a minute further in the direction the cam car was going there is a roundabout where the lorry should have turned around without blocking the road. I assume he has a Sat Nav or at least Google Maps on his phone, wouldn't have taken many brain cells to check before making his life difficult with that U Turn.
Looks to me to be a layby, if this is the case then HGV should not be attempting to use it to change direction. I drive HGVs myself and I would never do this.

All Colm M had to do was ease off as the lorry already committed to coming out, and if you understand we carnt go at a million hours an hour when we set off. If you look back at the footage, he must be at least 88yards (Assuming it’s a 60mph road & Colm M was doing that or less) until Colm M had to brake at that point the lorry was halfway over to the other carriageway. Ease off the accelerator which could delay your arrival time by 1 second, but no some car drivers are so impatient. It seems to me that the driver who'd been overtaken had done something to aggravate the (admittedly dangerous) overtaker. Flashed lights? Horn? "Hand signals"? Who knows. Far better to just hang back, and stay out of the way of such drivers rather than get triggered and go out of your way to annoy/aggravate them. They're usually already pretty aggravated long before you meet them!

Sal T Peanuts you had no need to flash your headlights and sound your horn. It was very clear the BMW needed to merge he found a gap and you made it difficult for him to move in and he had to brake as the traffic slowed down. You should have slowed down to let him in.

The point is, the system should not allow entry to the single lane section until it's clear, no matter how slow moving a vehicle is.

@@brian20011988why is the comment dumb? If you are driving in the second, third or fourth lane at 70 while the inside lane is clear then you are breaking the law. You should always drive in the left most lane unless you are overtaking. Once the overtake is complete you should pull back in.
Read highway code rule 264 as I am guessing you are one of the people What Ever is talking about

For sure. At 5:13 "Lumia" pulling into the opposing lane on a blind summit / bend, rather than just slowing down, just to prove a point. Created a worse hazard than the Audi.
Wrong. Most of these clips were caused by idiot drivers and not the person behind the wheel. Sure there's a few expectations, but speed rarely comes into it.
