For someone who doesn't own a switch, I think this is mostly better value due to the better storage and built in ethernet port which should cost more than $50 unless your in an area where you can find them cheap.

crap, they improve battery life by reducing power draw from 12w the old one to just 7 new one and oled eats more battery than the lcd , this it s a general know not something new ,so the battery improvement it s from the chip itself
I’ve had my OLED since day one, battery 🔋 is definitely great. OLED can allow lower light settings, but still be brighter and more vivid in color/blacks than non OLED. Audio does sound good. It’s like a real portable TV 📺 when watching movies on Hulu now.

Most devices, outside of new phones, dont have enough nitts, or brightness to handle sunlight, my iPhone 12 pro handles anything, but the Switch OLED, gonna say it will fair better indoors. Be awhile before I can test that as winter has set it strong.
Great work with the Kickstand coverage. Downwell looks amazing played this way, dark levels are amazing. It's surprising how stable the system is this way, it's almost like it is intentional.
The 4K functionality of the new dock actually tempts me NOT to buy the OLED switch - as its likely that if it is preparing for a hardware revision with 4K functionality or DLSS I'm better off waiting for that. I think its far more likely that Nintendo have some cloud based games in the works that will support 4K - hence the ethernet connection.
Oled is great but the in game aliasing is further highlighted with the bigger same resolution screen and higher contrast ratio. But if Aliasing does not bother you then it’s great for sure!
You can use any hdmi cable. Just make sure to get one that outputs 1080p-4K since if you get a cable lower than that then you will get the max output of that cable

There is 1 thing nobody had speak about. The fan. I want to know how loud it is because i think maybe mine is broken. On my old switch i can hear the noise everytime but on the oled nothing.
Hey man! So my experience is: I borrowed the switch lite from my friend before buying this oled. The switch lite did. never do any form of noise. I couldn’t here anything that was going on inside the console. However at the oled: I hear that the console is working when I put my ear near the console. Once, playing while charging the console got really loud and I don’t Know if that’s normal but it hasn’t happened since…. What are your thoughts? I Still don’t understand why the lite never does any form of noise
I still have my version 1 Switch. Debating on getting Oled as an upgrade mostly for better battery life (unless it's docked, my switch can't charge while playing games. It just slows down the battery usage)
The fan on the switch is overkill in my opinion. On the oled model, it’s almost never on unless you plug it in and play for a while. Also why would it need to get so fast for a little arm chip that won’t heat up enough unless you overclock the gpu and cpu

People are always talking about a 4K switch. Let me save you some time it’s not coming in the next 5 years. The simple fact is the hardware to play 4K games in a hand held doesn’t exist yet.
With the new dock the Switch can output 4k games since it supports HDMI 2.0. Now the thing is that for mobile hardware like the switch to output at 4K native, the game needs to be relativly simple. Yet, the point is it can output 4K visuals.
Something that a big company need to do is to innovate. No 4K in hand held? Go and damn research something that will allow that. Even dynamic resolution fake 4K.
