Finally somebody gets it, i got 4472 hours in terraria, and 320 hours in core keeper, so when i say i cant decide i between which i like more, you *know* it means something. ive only got that much time sunk into terraria because ive had the game for 8 years, and if i had 8 years with core keeper, im certain it would be more than 4000.
Regarding the replayability of games like terraria and core keeper, I believe terraria dealt with it pretty well, although it’s had quite some time in development. Terraria has an overwhelming amount of items and weapons to a point where it got divided into a bunch of different classes, allowing for different runs and play styles. Overall, I think core keeper will gradually reach that point as well, it’ll just take time. Who knows, modding might even be a thing.
50+ hours so far, its such a fantastic game. I have auto farms, scarlet base walls and floors and octarine garden area. The amount of content in this "early access" sucks me in each day, whether it be base design, exploration (even tho its getting dry after have discovered most everything, but whats not) or fighting bosses with friends. My friends were hesitant at first, but equally share my opinion. Cant wait for the future of this game
Before even watching the video I'm gonna say... I can't play this over Terraria, mainly because it needs 16GB of RAM!!!! I don't have a gaming pc or laptop, I mostly play on console but I've played some things on my laptop as well. but 16GB is just way over what I can handle and it seems to me a pixelated top down game shouldn't recommend 16GB of memory... Path of Exile recommends 8!!! You can't be asking more than Path of Exile for a pixelated game XO!
creator of the game here - we have toooons of optimizations coming in for 1.0 so hopefully this should be a non issue soon :) we are working very hard to get everything to as great as we can
The game is insanely polished for its development state. I grabbed some friends and we easily sunk 50hours into it. I agree with you that the bosses are the weakest point in the game. While the slime boss is easy the lategame bosses are just spamming too much stuff. You have more work with their spam than with actually fighting the boss and the fights don't offer anything else. They are just mega bulletsponges that spam high damage attacks. Sadly the only way to progress in lategame is to grind your stats as the highest tier equip won't be enough.
I think Core Keeper definitely has the potential to get huge. I started playing a couple weeks after the beta had launched, and it's actually a lot of fun. It just needs to some to grow and earn a name for itself
I do not like games like terraria and typically Core Keeper would of been a hard pass for me... But I got the Steam Deck and core keeper was deck verified so I thought I'd give it a shot and man. I sunk in 50+ hours in only a week. which for me is way more than I was expecting. My wife and I both play
Maybe you didn´t get quite far enough for it to make a difference, but I think the hunger bar actually serves a decent purpose in the game beyond just skills in the tree. It encourages you to eat food with different buffs and it sort of caps you on buffs. When I don't need to use my buffs in a game (i.e every bethesda RPG) they just sit in my inventory forever. However with Core Keeper hunger ties into farming, fishing, and combat and it encourages you to experiment with different recipes to find helpful buffs and then stay on top of them. Like for early game exploring I almost always had the glow buff going as well as the movement speed. If it was completely optional I'd probably ignore that stuff for a while, but the hunger bar focuses you into interacting with a good chunk of the game and rewards you for it.
My last few videos have been underperforming, so if you're able to put some wind at my back by liking and subscribing to the channel if you enjoyed what you saw, it'd be much appreciatd! I know your pain... I've been trying to promote iSaT lately since I absolutely love it and I think people who like Omori would like it, but I lose subscribers whenever I do, lol
I love how you pointed out what you see as a flaw in that the Hunger Mechanic does not introduce tense situations, or seem to affect other game elements. It's interesting to me, because it helps me understand why a Game Element is important or adds to the mix, because it makes the game more fun. Like how in a Sneak Game, an enemy hearing where you are helps them to find you, so that helps the game be more complex. But for me it's just a helpful detail that I didn't feel like I really understood before. Maybe a little, but I appreciate your perspective. Thank you for sharing.
I got selected for early alpha versions of the game before the main release and when I first opened up the game I was shocked by how good and fun it was with friends, I feel very lucky to have played it in alpha.
I've started playing this game recently and i don't know if it's just me but i feel like what this game lacks is getting the minigames to work with the core game. I feel like i have to go out of my way and "nerf" substantially my progression to farm crops and go fishing. It often feels like i only need those 2 things when i'm capped out on things that help me and want to minmax my builds. I don't want these things to be required but i feel like i can just go mining and kill some mobs and i'll be fine and if i go farming or fishing i'm wasting my time since they don't affect on how you play the game as much. I got to the bird boss and don't know if it's like this for the rest of the game but to be there and feel like i've wasted my time on all things but mining and fighting makes me feel bad.
I did play around 150 hours of core keeper and without those last two biomes i would totally agree core keeper would be an absolut banger of a game. I liked everything so far the combat is a bit clunky but managebale the farms you can build are just awesome. But the point where i would disagree are those last two biomes especially the last one. The desert biome is in my opinion totally empty its massive has two enemys and nearly nothing what you need. The new ore does not give you somethinh as awesome as those drills. Not even new flowers or something like that. I hope they change this. Otherwise its a damn good game with soo much Potential.
how does this compare to necesse? I saw that you clipped it in your video and I loved that game a LOT. also, do you know how it compares to keplearth? I havent played that one yet but it and CK are both on my wishlist
Core Keeper has so much potential. Yes, bosses are either repetitive or too boring to fight. I think multiple stages would spice things up (like in terraria). The team is always hard at work. Constant quality of life improvements, seasonal events and just think about the possibilities with modding in the long run.
Core Keeper grabbed my attention as well. VRising is AMAZING but has the same enemy-leashing problem you described. Honestly makes the game unplayable at times but hopefully it'll be fixed before the full release. Can't wait to give it a shot! Would love to play with you as well. -Corvus (rebranded channel)

The hunger bar isn't really a hunger bar like in typical survival games. It just gives you a stat bonus if you maintain it or gives you a small stat penalty if you don't use food at all. You don't die from hunger or anything.

It's a great game but it's not quite at the level of Terraria
Ok
weapons seem boring AF, they just seem like stronger versions of each other
It's Terraria and Stardew valley but you are forced to be underground the entire time which makes it dark, gloomy, claustrophobic and missing half the charm of the games it borrows from.
