  • This morning this rolled across the scales. And Im pretty excited because we havent had a four wheel drive field car in a very long time. The Honda Passport is 2wd and while it may do a good job. The durango is going to take us deep into the woods where our older trails are! Stay tuned as we fix up this durango for a junkyard beat down!

Well, its either a 318 or a 360 ..Those started as a 273 in the 1960's then the L.A series 318 came in 67(318 wide block from the 1950's-1966 wasnt the same as the 318 small block, confusing I know) And the Mighty 340 small block !
      Cuda's,Challenger's,Darts,Dusters,Demons, and 1971 - later Charger's,Road Runners,Super Bee's came with 340's !!!
I had a 70 Cuda AAR witht he 340 6 barrel,it ran high 12's once you could get radial tires and wider tread ,still 60 foot was spinning badly..I did run Hogh 12's easily ,all 100% stock, stock points, stock carbs, stock exhaust..Only tires were changed..80,000 mile car, sold it in 1982 with 140,000 I seen the car in 1995 for sale saying it had 42,000 original miles lol...B.S like all those cars as they only went to 99,999 then to 00,000 again ! Or if they showed the 6 digits it was 1/10th of a mile at the end,so 99,999.9 then 00,000.0 ! So they b.s about all old cars they all have high mileage ..My car I then seen just 8 years ago with 43,000 original miles !!LOL thats 143,000 ! I kept the vin number,so I know...Car was imaculate in/out and I kept it like that too, even fixed minor chips andat 120,000 the seats seem to com aprt in some seams,so I repaired them too (drivers).Car looked/drove like new even at 140,000 miles ! I sold it but own a 71 440 6bbl Cuda and a 68 Charger RT and others..A couple more Mopars and a few GM/.Ford's..
So it would sound like a Muscle Car,as its the same engine...
360 was used in Cuda's and Challengers ,Charger's Road Runners from 74-79..Yes,the 79 Road Runner was Volare but had a 360 4bbl ,my buddy removed the lean burn and swapped the carb he ran high 13's for a bone stock car,low compression..Carb and distributor isnt a huge modification it just advanced the retarding of the engine and lets it have full power that it was built with.

From awhile ago but like this. Family bought one of these new. Kept it and took care of it. Became the wife's car. Hemi Ram for the husband got paid off. Thought about replacing the Durango. Right one wasn't in stock so had the old stand by detailed. Turned out sweet.

I have an 02 and I've owned that fucking thing since it had 14 miles , hauled close to 100 cars with it , totaled it and put it back together and I'm still driving it , 50 series single in dual out starting to rust everywhere only one window works , front drive shaft splines torn out and I'm gonna keep on beating on it till she dies

It's amazing a Dodge got that far, must be a miracle. I bought a $200 Explorer earlier, 2000 with the V8, $8 relay and it's driving perfectly, minor rust too, no big deal, came from NY down to SC. That 318 with no exhaust reminds me of a cargo van my dad had years ago with no exhaust, bitch was so sweet until it shit itself.

They did..The 727 was the most reliable, durable and quick shifting..Problem was in the 90's and early 00's they used the 904 trans and added an overdrive and the issues are with those..
I never had a Dodge Transmission fail when I had the 727 even with my 650 hp 440 Charger !

my first car was a 1999 5.9l Dodge Durango SLT.
it was that stupid purple. i HATED that thing, regretted buying it...
then i sold it to my stepdad and saw what these things can do offroad, with a chord of wood on the trailer, haulin a full family and cargo bay full of tools and equipment.
5 years later that little pos still runs (mostly) fine and still hauls wood. These days i find myself missing that stupid purple paint. after fresh wash in a bright summer day, that dumb purple paint does look pretty nice

I started kinda wanting one of those.. Just like "I fkn need one of those damn it"
BUT i live in finland, and if you don't know what that means, it basicly means that we didnt get almost any big cool american cars, becouse of depression and fuel prices. I mean its 1,37 euro OR MORE per litre. Not cool.

Yep, my buddies 180K mile Dakota transmission shit the bed and I asked him the last time he serviced it and he said "never". Well? How about that.

About 180k is typically what they last. The main deal that makes a 46RE a bad tranny is, it has a cooling problem. And over time your fluid gets burnt and loses its lubricity. Put a bigger trans cooler on it from the beginning and who knows how long it'd last. Also when you change you fluid and filter (every 60-80k) miles, change your valve body solenoid spring. It's super easy once the pan is off.

They not bad transmission maintenance them right and it will last forever 201k on my 98 Dodge Ram 1500 with original engine transmission still going strong
