    An exceptional tutorial on handshake grip, I have been holding an ineffective grip for 4 years. I know I was doing something wrong, just don't know what. I highly recommend to coaches, this is the first thing that should be talked about before coaching a brand new player, and before they develop an inefficient hand grip, as I did for 4 years. Happily, it took me just 4-6 weeks to get used to the new grip and I feel that my skill level has up at least 2 notches. Thank you for the tutorial.

    I was just thinking over this grip points and I analyzed that if index finger had pressure point on little right side of bat and thumb has pressure on left side of bat then automatically it forces wrist to be used with wrapping around motion over the ball.

    Thanks for Great tutorial. I was introduced concept of holding bat with index finger and thumb before but I didn't know that thumb pressure point and index point should match. For me index finger pressure in not pointed but distributed over whole index finger when ball is hit.is that very wrong? Also should thumb pressure point and index pressure point lie one below other exactly on the bat?

    This grip work perfectly once you apply the stroke descriptions also on this channel. The angle of the bat even changes itself on the backhand and forehand with hardly any need for adjustment as long as you have in mind to play backhand first. ❤ Thank you so much…

      isnt it exactly what is shown in the video? :) yes, you have it correct this way. idea is to have it as close as possible for both sides in such way that you feel FH and BH strokes almost the same and bat angle is not changed in your grip.

      What is your advice on HPL for pendulum and reverse pendulum serve?
      Which point would you dot on your thumb and index finger for each, and where would you squeeze on the paddle? Would you squeeze on the same point on the paddle? Or is it a different concept?

    My coach told me you don't have your thumb touch the rubber in forehand strokes. What is your response to this? He played provincial level in China.

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depepnds what your objective is. If you want to improve your feeling and fix your grip form, then we consider it is better to develop it with the tip we presented. Moreover, it is directly leading to easier energy focusing later.
      If your aim is to add power to only FH stroke then you can make your thumb pushing hard on the top cut part of the handle. At that point you will not be touching rubber. This is probably what your coach ment. The point is that is much easier to grip paddle properly once you know our approach then to switch other way around.

    Hi this video.concept is very interesting to me.
    However i am unsure on how you mean to find the two points for thumb and index finger.
    Am i meant to try pushing a button with my thumb to find where i contact the button? How do i find these points

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Cherio, no the "pushing the button" through the rubber when your thumb is pressing against index finger is a way how to play BH shot. actually look at thumbnail of Concept4. Then you will see this pushing like action clearly in the picture. These two points are found naturally if you try to squeeze the two fingers against each other. start with center of inner side of thumb approaching the end of upper line(crease), where index finger exits palm of your hand. This works pretty well for me. Hope it helps :)

    • @cheriojhonson4101
      @cheriojhonson4101 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for the quick reply.
      I believe i am double jointed so i am having trouble applying this concept correctly.
      The inner side of the thumb you refer to. Is that the portion of the thumb that is directly opposite to the upper side with fingernail?
      Or are you referring to the side portion of the thumb?

    what about Timo or Dima? They always change the grip for FH and BH

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I do not see any relevance in the aspect of proper feeling of the paddle in the hand. Sure, you can adjust in some cases (timo for FH recieve, dima for BH, etc), but first you need to know how to extend your hand by the paddle. Also please note that those players are tip of the iceberd. We are trying to unify and generalize proper paddle feeling for everyone. Both timo and dima are very unique in their game strengths. It is effective for them, but I would not recommend any player to copy it.

    I am 59 years old and never trained how to hold the paddle. I used to hit the ball on the same side. Yes it was clumsy to have to turn the wrist but I was pretty good at it. I then switched to a rubber bat and use both sides, but I find my grip has to change and my backhand far inferior. I have never learned correct hand placement apparently. Very frustrated because my game is stuck. Unfortunately, this video wasn't enough for me to understand. Do you have progression or another that discusses further?

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  ปีที่แล้ว

      hello Robert, I do not think that changing grip is good idea at this stage. If there is young player that has no bad habits and can learn how to use proper grip with energy focusing during stroke execution, then this will helpfull for the trainer. If you are used to your grip for so many years, then any change only be worse for you. please note that these lessons and concepts are like points for me to teach other players. it serves as training diary filled with most important factors. it is almost impossible to explain all in the videos. I just share it with others so they have easier path if they want to study it more. it is hard to explain feelings and techniques without actually working with the player. there is many factors that must be considered. But, if you still want to make a change please write what actually you did not understand and I will try to explain it as best as possible.

    Should the thumb touches the forehand rubber while making backhand drives?

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In most cases YES, it touches boundary of the rubber. But it is very dependant on size of your hand.,of course. Just focus to feel the connection of the two fingers through the paddle. This should be sufficient. Whether you touch rubber or not is not that important in the end.

    Do you mean in the video that the variable grip is wrong?

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  ปีที่แล้ว

      What do you mean by variable grip? Video is focusing on teaching proper grip by using of two fingers connection. if you use to it like that, changes on FH or BH will be very subtle, because you are not losing connection with the playing planes. this grip will help players to get rid of bad habits very quickly.

    The grip and the positioning of the fingers is spot on; however, this pressure line thing is completely off in my opinion. By applying pressure to the thumb and index while gently holding the handle with the rest of the fingers might be good for precision or spin shots, but one loses speed and power. Instead, if the 3 fingers or better say ring and small finger have a good grip on the handle and the index and thumb just rest gently on the line described in the video to make the micro adjustments needed in the shot; only then, there is possibility of literally whipping the ball. If the bat is held this way, then the wrist can move freely, if the pressure on the bat is coming mainly from the index and thumb, then some rigidity will be noticed in the wrist. If following as suggested in the video, the player will never be able to generate the maximum amount of power possible. I would encourage players to test both theories and see for themselves which technique is actually the one that gives them the best shots.

    • @DESANGGG
      @DESANGGG  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hello John, of course you lose some power (if you have diferent/european technique). Idea is to learn and remember the feeling of proper holding of the bat. Once you do it habitually then you can make adjustments based of power of your shot and type of shot. You will return to relaxed grip every time.
      For that this rule of thumb was developed (no pun intended :D ). However, if you use energy focusing approach as desribed in other video you can generate and transfer so much power to the ball even when your bat is held only by two fingers. Because during impact energy is going out along direction of your forearm and is not directly perpendicular to the travel path of the ball. I do not want go more into details. Hope it helps.
